âSo youâre telling me those bite marks are from another woman?â
Dorothy frowned, fighting the urge to roll her eyes at him. âDonât even try to spin a yarn about it being a
guyâs doing. Iâm not buying
that tale.â
âNo, they really were from a woman.â Everett teased, watching her cheeks flush with anger, a smirk
creeping up his face.
Her jealousy was a dead giveaway that she had feelings for him!
Seeing Dorothy like this made Everett happier than anything else.
âAnd you say you havenât been dating anyone else?â Dorothyâs eyes widened like a wife interrogating
her husband, almost ready to jump out of her wheelchair. âShe must have been pretty close to leave a
bite on your shoulder. You obviously slept with her!â
Everett nodded, âYouâre spot on. Not just once, but quite a few times. She was drunk that night, and I
intended just to escort her to her hotel room. But then she got handsy and wouldnât let go of me!â
Dorothy covered her ears and turned away, âSpare me the sordid details! So she touched you and you
just surrendered? Where have your morality gone to?â
âGone when it came to her. I found it hard to stand my ground.â Everett saw she was genuinely upset,
and knew it was time to reveal the truth before she actually took off and he couldnât chase after her.
âDidnât it ever occur to you that this woman might be you?â
âHow could Iâ¦â
Dorothy stopped before finishing the sentence, frozen.
âVerity Holdings Limited collapsed overnight. Did you think about who might have had a hand in that?â
She was still trying to make sense of it all.
She remembered that Lane suddenly showed up in Havenbrook City, and she had asked him about
Verity Holdings Limited. Lane claimed it was him behind the companyâs collapse!
âSo you were in Havenbrook City the night I got drunk?â
âHow else would the bite marks be there?â
âThe driver from Everglow City who came to my rescue, was he sent by you?!â
Everett thought for a moment and then nodded. âYou could say that.â
âAnd you made Verity Holdings Limited crash?â
âYes.â
âEverett, donât you think that was too contemptible? You saw me alone in the hotel, and then youâ¦.â
He cut her off quickly, âHold on! I didnât take advantage of anyone. Like I said, you started it.â
âImpossible!â She always just lay down and slept when she was drunk. It wasnât her first time drinking.
How could she possibly end up fondling a man!
âThe folks at Verity Holdings Limited roofied you that night, so you were⦠quite eagerâ¦â Everett
paused for effect. His eyes narrowed and lips curved into a sly smile. âIâve never seen you so intense
before. I admit. I did let you have your way with me that. night.â
And he seemed to relish it, pulling her back for more even after she waved him off.
Dorothyâs brain couldnât keep up. She couldnât imagine what exactly had gone down that night!
Everett said that Verity Holdings Limited had roofied her; who knows what couldâve happened if it
wasnât for his staffâs protection! âThose bite marks⦠were all from me?â
âYes.â Everett nodded, âYou kept asking me to be gentle, but I couldnât. So you bit me.â
âEnough, enough!â
Dorothy felt her face blushed as if on fire.
The details of that night were just too much!
