He was bound to figure out what was wrong with his business in Everettâs home!
Just as Everett was about to speak, Jeffrey, anxious to avoid a clash between father and son at their
first meeting, quickly intervened, âUmâ¦. Everett, itâs your first meeting. Of course, heâs going to be a bit
wary! Take him home and ask him step by step later! Lefâs go eat now Iâm starving. and he must be
too!â
With that, Jeffrey gave Langston an intentional look.
Upon receiving the hint, Langston reluctantly nodded, âYeah, Iâm hungry
âAlrightâ Everett, faced with this sudden son, felt somewhat helpless.
Luckily, Jeffrey was there to ease the awkwardness.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Everett ordered a table full of dishes, not knowing what the kid
liked to eat
Watching Langston eat in silence, Jeffrey leaned over to Everett and whispered, âI tell you your son is a
whiz kid
Everett cast him a glance, âIâve noticedâ
âThe software collapse at Lopez Corporation was probably his doingâ
Only then did Jeffrey connect the dots. I wouldnât have guessed if you hadnât mentioned it! Well, you
have some good genes.
Everett shot him a look. âIf you want a kid, go have your ownâ
âTsk! My son might not be so smart Jeffrey chuckled, âYour son is too cute, like a little adult. You have
no experience with kids, why not give him to me?â
Jeffrey wanted to take back his previous statement about disliking kids!
He loved kids! Loved them to pieces!
âNo.â Everettâs refusal was simple and direct
âWhy
not? You donât know how to take care of a kid and youâre busy with work! But I have plenty of time to
spare.â
Everett softened his gaze as he looked at Langston carefully chewing his food. Their bond seemed to
be suddenly connected.
âIâll learn how to get along well with the kidâ
âYou donât even know who his mother is. Are you willing to devote time to him?â
âHeâs my son. Itâs my duty.â Everett was solemn and serious in histone
Failing his plan, Jeffrey felt deflated
âI wish I hadnât told you! I should we secretly taken him in!â
He nudged Langston, âKid, I agree to your deal. Give me that number.â
Langston made an OK sign, âGive me your laptop, and Ill send it to you.â
Everett was confused, âWhat deal?â
âThats our secret!
Everett watched them chattering away with a strange sensation,
Upon reflection, was he a tad jealous?
âLangston, if you want a computer, I can get you the most advanced one in the world.â Everettâs offer
was as casual as buying a toy for a kid.
Sure enough, Langstonâs eyes sparkled at the offer.
âReally?
âOf courseâ
Upon hearing this, Jeffrey was immediately indignant, âEverett, thatâs not fair! You canât bribe a kid with
money!â
âMy son just wants a computerâ
âYou havent done a DNA test yet! What if heâs not? Jelheyâs only hope was this.
Everett imply raised an eyebrow, âYou think thereâs any doubt?â
