Jeffrey was dumbfounded by his statement.
Was he⦠actually communicating with a little kid?
âYou intercepted the number?â
âYup! Waiting for you guys to rescue me was taking too long Langstonâs response was remarkably
nonchalant, devoid of any boastful sentiment.
I was as though he was discussing something as mundane as the weather.
This made Jeffrey a country bumpkin!
âThen you should give me the number*
Langston glanced at him and suddenly shook his head, âI cant just give it to you. You couldnât even find
me. I had to come out myselfâ
Jeffrey was left speechless.
âWe can make a trade.â Langston squinted, grinning in a way that was a mimor image of Everett. The
only difference was that Everett hardly ever smiled. âI want to use your work computer, is that okay?â
Jeffrey didnât understand what Langston intended to do, but considering his extraordinary abilities, he
decided to stay on guard.
âThere are a lot of important things on my computer; itâs not a toy.â
âIâm not asking for it. Weâre trading! You want the number, and I want your computer.â
Jeffrey was shocked by the proposition.
There seemed to be some logic in the boyâs argument!
Then tell me, what are you planning to do with my computer?â
âWhat can I do? Of course, I want to contact my family.â Langston knew that Jeffrey was not easily
fooled, so he decided to play his trump card. He blinked innocently, posing a question in a naive voice,
âWhat did you think I was going to do? Did you think I would steal your computer?â
âNo, no, the computer isnât worth much. I could even give it to your
âReally? Well, thank you. Mi. Tumer!â
Jeffrey rolled his eyes, sensing that something was off about the conversation, but he couldnât quite put
his finger on it.
Just as they were talking Everettâs car pulled up.
After receiving the call he had immediately set off towards them.
Langstons gaze shifted towards the vehicle, his eyes widening unconsciously as he watched the man
stepping out
No wonder Langstonâs mom had been hesitant to let him return home country. They really did look
alike!
Upon laying eyes on Langston, Everett felt as though he was dreaming
Could there really be a child that looked just like him?
He stood there stunned for a while until Jeffrey broke the silence. He then walked over, contemplating
what his first words to the boy should be. Unexpectedly, Langston beat him to it.
âYou re Everett?â
Langston scrutinized him from head to toe, then furrowed his brows. âMy mentor told the truth that all
the good for nothing guys are handsome.â
Everett, who had no experience dealing with children, stood frozen, unsure of how to respond.
Jeffrey, on the other hand, burst into laughter.
âEverett, now you know the power of your son! I was literally left speechless!â
Everett stared at the little man before him, scrutinizing him intensely.
He attempted to discern something from Langstonâs face.
Perhaps, a trace of someone else.
But Langston resembled Everett so closely. Perhaps due to his youth, Everett couldnât see any traces
of Dorothy.
âDid your mom ever tell you that Iâm your father? Everett asked cautiously.
Langston snorted, âNoâ
âWhatâs your momâs name?â
Again, the same question.
Langston scrunched up his face in annoyance, âDoes it matter? All you need to know is that Iâm your
son and you need to take me back to your place
