Chapter 3: No More Father

An hour inside marquess Elex office-

"Aurora" (Marquess Elex, said)

Marquess Elex called Aurora's name as he scribbled with his black feather fountain pen with a golden tip.

'Still so indifferent' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

'Like always, he's always considered me below everyone else. Not enough for him to give me a proper greeting... he can't even bother to look up.' (Aurora's inner thought)

She watched her father sit in his black leather chair and his tall long rectangular black desk with stacks of paperwork on his left and on his right.

He was wearing the same outfit he wore at the dining table. The big wide window with the black tied curtains, formed some sort of shade that covered his face.

'He looks even colder than before. Each time I come to his office I get chills, I guess he likes the darkness.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Aurora gazed at the black wallpaper with light golden borders. Even the paintings were a black color sprinkled with a golden color for full effect.

The only color this office had was the marquess's hair, eyes, and the two red couches that faced each other in the center of his office.

'Perhaps even his brown wooden door.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

'Scribble'

Aurora turned her gaze at her father again.

'Well what does it matter, I no longer want his love' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

"Yes, marquess Elex." (Aurora, said)

'Halt'

Marquess fountain halted. He finally raised his head and looked at the calm Aurora.

"Aurora" (Marquess, said)

He looked at Aurora strictly.

"This is the first time you address me in such way." (Marquess Elex, said)

Marquess soon frowned.

'You lost the right to be called father.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

"I only followed your advice, you told me many times to call you marquess Elex since you disliked the other title, or would you like marquess Elex Lepiliondel with your last name? I shall change it for you." (Aurora, asked)

She looked at him without regret.

"..." (Marquess Elex)

'I did say that..but why does it feel so distant' (Marquess Elex's inner thoughts)

'Throb'

'No, she's right..a child like her, could never be worthy of being called daughter.' (Marquess Elex, said)

Marquess Elex pushed away his throbbing feeling.

"Your right, you still have not proven your worth in the Lepeliondel family." (Marquess Elex, said)

'Those words no longer hurt me, I've heard worse' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

"I have taken your words into consideration that is why I have accepted the marriage in hopes to help even if it's a little to raise your honor." (Aurora, said)

"The great esteemed marquess Elex considered his children to be the talk of many. Adelina the great saintess beauty and Arian a great heir and captain of the Lepiliondel knights. They both have brought great honor to the family, it is time I do my part." (Aurora, said)

"It's good that you have finally realized how important the Lepiliondel family name is. I was surprised when you accepted the marriage but since you put it that way it's the least you could do as a child who is painted to be a mistake in existence." (Marquess Elex, said)

Marquess Elex continued to speak nonchalantly with his cruel words.

"I'm sure you'll get along, both are from the same caliber so there should be no problem there.'" (Marquess Elex, said)

"So in any moment the emp-" (Marquess Elex, said)

Marquess Elex was interrupted by a knock.

'Knock'

"Ah it must be him." (Marquess Elex, said)

'Creak'

Marquess lifted himself from his chair.

"Come in" (Marquess Elex, said)

'Creak'

Door opens.

Two men step inside marquess Elex office.

One was the Lepiliondel family's butler and the other was the emperor's aide.

"I have brought him" (Butler Estefano, said)

Estefano was quite old. He was sixty years old and had grey old hair with light brown eyes.

He always wore his black butler's uniform with a black ruffled-up tie and a attached golden Lepiliondel family crest near his right pocket.

While the emperor's aide, Count Ian Saxos was much younger. He was forty-five years old with black eyes and long dirty blonde hair tied up with a beige color ribbon. He wore a beige suit that matched the end of his beige glasses.

"I greet marquess Elex Lepiliondel." (Count Ian, Saxos)

Ian took a slight bow.

"Ah, count Ian you came five minutes earlier than expected." (Marquess Elex, said)

"Well of course, isn't it better to arrive early rather than late shouldn't you say?" (Ian, asked)

Ian asked with a cheerful voice.

"Yes, Count Ian seems to be right." (Marquess Elix, said)

'The emperor should send someone different instead' (Marquess Elex's inner thoughts)

Marquess turned to look at Estefano.

"Estefano you may take your leave, thank you for guiding Count Ian." (Marquess Elex, said)

'Nod' (Estefano)

Estefano bowed and soon left.

'Clack'

Door closed.

Aurora, marquess Elex, and Ian stared at the closed door.

Ian turned to Aurora.

'For the bad prophesy child I heard she was an ugly rag, but I must say as soon as I entered the room I couldn't help but keep glancing at her.' (Ian's inner thoughts)

'Shame she's quite a beauty..a real sin is that she is ten times prettier than saintess Adelina.' (Ian's inner thoughts)

Ian had now turned to look at marquess Elex.

"So this is her?" (Ian, asked)

"Yes, that's her." (Marquess Elex, said)

He said indifferently.

"I see" (Ian, said)

Ian's gaze returned to Aurora.

'I guess he didn't get the title of pervert for anything, he's been staring at me with drool on his mouth.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

"I greet count Ian Saxons" (Aurora, said)

Auror flawlessly greeted Ian.

'Mmmm..' (Ian's inner thoughts)

"It seems you educated her very well I found no flaw in her greetings." (Ian, said)

Ian said as he looked at marquess Elex.

"Ah, well even though she's a useless child I couldn't have her drag the families name more than her reputation." (Marquess Elex, said)

'Thank god I made her take those classes, I would have been embarrassed if she made a mistake.' (Marquess Elex, said)

'You made me take more classes than Adelina and Arian combined. I was never allowed outside the mansion nor was I allowed to take a walk in the gardens. My life was just the room.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Aurora remembered herself sitting down at her wooden circular table studying the countless stacks of books before her lessons and after her lessons.

'Ha, even books on how to eat..I never got to eat them.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

She remembers opening an etiquette book on silverware and food. She flipped page by page looking through the food that she'd never eat again.

'It was quite hard studying how to eat foods that I would never get to eat in real life.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

'Especially, since there's new variety's now' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

'He made me do all the hard work and gave no credit. I'm the reason why his business was especially successful but a fool like him will come too late to realize it.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

'Even so, I guess at least I'm thankful that he let me keep my original room.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Marquess Elex turned to look at Aurora who was already staring at him.

"Count Ian is in charge of the paperwork for your marriage so sit." (Marquess Elex, said)

Aurora and marquess Elex now sat on the red couch across Ian.

"All you have to do is a sign it" (Ian, said)

Aurora grabbed the fountain pen and looked at the script.

"Marriage Treaty" (Script)

"Duke Dorion Raniers and Aurora Lepiliondel" (Script)

"..." (Aurora)

'Didn't even bother to put young marchioness or lady' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Aurora put the script down.

Aurora signed

As soon as she lifted her pen Ian snatched the script and rolled it. He looked at marquess Elex.

"There is one more thing I like to discuss in private." (Ian, said)

Ian took a glance at Aurora.

"I see, then Aurora you are dismissed." (Marquess Elex, said)

"Yes, marquess." (Aurora, said)

Aurora said her goodbyes and left.

'Clack'

Aurora came out of her father's office and walked straight forward with her eyes closed to think straight but she couldn't. She had a lot in mind so when she opened her eyes she found herself locking eyes with another pair of similar dark blue eyes.

Adelina stood in the middle of the hall with furious eyes.

It was only Aurora and Adelina alone standing on the red carpet with widows the length of a wall.

Sunlight hit their faces as they stared at each other.

Soon Adelina spoke.

"Sister" (Adelina, said)

'Step'

Adelina walked towards Aurora as she spoke.

"Not only did father ignore my words." (Adelina, said)

'Step'

"But you agreed to marry that monster." (Adelina, said)

'Step'

Adelina had now arrived in front of Aurora.

Aurora was 5'5 and Adelina was 5'4 which meant Adelina still had to look up at Aurora.

"Do you have any idea how much you ruined things for me?" (Adelina, asked)

Adelina's furious eyes scrunched up at Aurora.

"You have never spoken up, why now?" (Adelina, asked)

".." (Aurora)

"You will go back and tell father you have changed your mind." (Adelina, said)

Adelina lean in as she commanded Aurora with an arrogant tone.

"And you will continue living like a rat under my shadow." (Adelina, said)

Adelina glared at Aurora as she continued.

"Your purpose here is to make me look better, you have no other value and you know it. Why? Because your nothing like me and could never be like me" (Adelina, said)

'If I slap her know it will just ruin my plans since she's been called by father...let's not' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Aurora leaned toward Adelina and looked down at her causing Adelina to take a step back from her intimidating aura.

'In the past I let Adelina speak to me as she pleased because I hoped if I stayed quiet she might change her mind towards me. I thought she would like me like a sister...I only fooled myself.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Aurora leaned closer to Adelina.

"Today is the end of it. You will never get to step on me ever again and you know why?" (Aurora, asked)

Aurora snickered as she asked Adelina with cold eyes.

"Because you could never be half of what I am." (Aurora, said)

"What did you say?" (Adelina, asked)

Adelina greeted her teeth.

'She's never behaved like this before, ever since dinner, she's been different. I figured the marriage proposal made her go irrational. I was surprised when she accepted the marriage but I thought it was to make herself look good in front of father so I decided to give her some time by the end of the day and she would revert to her old quiet self but what with this!' (Adelina's inner thoughts)

Aurora placed her hands on Adelina's shoulders.

'Grip'

Aurora now gripped Adelina's shoulders.

'I-I can't move! How is she so strong?!' (Adelina's inner thoughts)

Adelina shivered in anger.

A smirk formed across Aurora's lips.

'Look at that. I let myself be killed by a weak insignificant person like her? Ha, how funny just looking at her raging face.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

"Rember this very well Adelina, everything that you have done to me I shall pay it back tenfold. Everything you took away from me including to the last spec of dust you craved will be taken away by me." (Aurora, said)

'N-No calm down Adelina,  she's probably talking about family love and attention she couldn't..' (Adelina's inner thoughts)

Aurora's smile was now a wicked crescent moon.

It was as if her raging eyes stared into Adelina's soul.

"And you know why?" (Aurora, asked)

Aurora leaned closer now whispering into Adelina's ear.

"Because it belonged to me from the very start." (Aurora, said)

"!" (Adelina)

'Since when has she known?!' (Adelina's inner thoughts)

Adelina's eyes widen as countless chills run down her spine.

Aurora took a side glance at the presence she felt before.

It was one of Adelina's maids. The maid of the needles, Luciana.

Luciana was hiding in the corner trying to hear the conversation dumb enough to hide with a half-showing arm.

Luciana always wore a black thin bracelet with brown polished rocks her lover have given her.

'Another person who I need to deal with.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Aurora let Adelina go and looked at her coldly and said loudly enough for Luciana to hear.

"You will pay back everything including every needle you poke me with." (Aurora, said)

Adelina continued to shiver with her clutched fists.

Aurora took a peek at Luciana who had soon disappeared.

Her eyes fell upon Adelina's fists.

"You shouldn't clutch your hands like that, you might bleed since you can't self heal it will probably leave a mark." (Aurora, said)

'Dam it!  How does she know? Does she know everything already?!' (Adelina's inner thoughts)

'In fact, funny thing Adelina could never self heal even with her used power. It seemed it could only heal others unless she ran from power and heal others halfways.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

'I don't know how I didn't add things up. Every time she said she felt weak she would poke me. She made it a routine to poke me certain days in a month.' (Aurora's inner thoughts)

Aurora looked up and saw Adelina's bowing face.

Aurora now had passed Adelina as her crescent moon smile faded only leaving her cold dark blue eyes.
