Beta Brent's POV
After discussing with Olivia during the day, I couldn't return home. Somewhere I kept having this feeling that she had been caught. I knew what kind of trouble she would enter if she was caught with me. Not just that, she could lose any form of trust which Devon had developed for her.
That was going to jeopardize our plans. Nevertheless, I returned to the pack house. The Alpha summoned me immediately after he heard I had returned.
"Brent, tell me you succeeded." He said. "I don't think it would be that hard to convince that girl. She is too gullible and naive."
"It was kind of hard," I confessed. "The girl has formed a deep-seated hatred in her heart for me, she refused to even let me touch her."
"I did tell you then to be careful about how you treated her. I told you there would be used for her one day but you never listened to me." He accused. "Now you can see? We need her but she is keeping a grudge."
"Well, what do you expect me to do? How did you expect me to go on with it?" I demanded.
"Don't you dare to raise your voice at me, Brent? She is your daughter and if you can't coerce or cajole her, it tells a lot about you in general." He snapped.
I calmed instantly. I knew I couldn't raise my voice at him. Rodrigo was almost as cruel as Devon and the only thing that separated them was that Rodrigo used extreme means so which made him more hated than Devon.
"I understand," I said. "But I cannot force her. If I do, chances are that she might feel too pressured and Devon can easily get word from her."
Rodrigo calmed as he heard what I said. "Then you have to return to her tonight."
"I fear that someone has already seen me with her," I exclaimed.
"That's better. It means she will be punished. Use that to form a hatred in her heart against Devon as well." Rodrigo said.
I thought about it, and of course, that was true. If I listed the things which Devon could do to her if he found us together, she could hate him.
"If so, I will be on my way then," I said. Rodrigo nodded and I left. I found myself back at Devon's pack house. I watched how hard Olivia trained. She looked too serious and I knew it had to do with the things Devon was telling her.
I didn't hear them, but from her expression, they were not nice. I smirked. Everything just seemed to be going out well.
I watched the entire scene from when she passed out to when Devon emptied the bucket of water on her. Somewhere I felt angry because he had just done that to my daughter.
It's not that I cared about her. I was angry because it was Devon who did that and not someone else. Even I as her father have done worse than that to her. But who gave Devon the right to do such a wicked thing to her?
I waited until she returned to her room then I made my way to her room. All the while I was extra careful to not be spotted. It was how she closed the door in my face and even bolted it.
I knocked again. She didn't respond.
"Olivia, if you won't open the door, I might just miss my way to Devon's room and tell him I am looking for my daughter." I threatened.
Within a few seconds, she opened the door, pulled me inside, and slammed it shut.
"What do you want?" She gestured. I smiled.
"Olivia, that is not a way to greet your father," I said. "I can't believe you would welcome me in such a manner when I came to see you."
She scoffed. Her expression showed disbelief and I smiled more.
"How are you?" I asked. She looked at me in surprise. She opened her mouth to speak and then she closed it. I wanted to laugh out at that point but I knew it would spoil all of my plans so I withheld the laughter.
"Are you fine?" I tried to touch her and she moved back quickly. "Please allow me, I'm sorry for what I did to you."
"Sorry is not enough." She gestured. How I was able to understand her, I didn't know. I guess it had to do with the blood we shared.
"Devon doesn't love you, Olivia," I repeated. She stared away from me and I knew right then that I had gotten her.
"Look at what he did to you, he found you unconscious, and rather than helping you inside, he emptied a bucket of cold water on you," I said.
How did you know? She gestured to me.
"I overheard him brag about it to his subordinates as I was coming. That was why I had to come in to check up on you. Olivia, why not end this torture for yourself permanently?"
What do you mean?
"Listen, you can lock up his wolf first. Later you can kill him off. That way, you will be free from this torture, and you will be accepted back in our pack and celebrated as the hero who killed Alpha Devon."
"Think about it, my darling daughter."
Telling her all this was easy but pretending to care about her was so hard as I felt disgusted by my words.
I don't want to think about it.
"You should. We will accept you back and you can have another mate who will respect you." I proposed. "Even if you won't accept it now, I shall leave them with you."
"I will come in to check in on you next time, make sure you make the choice that will make us proud of you," I said.
I knew my words had gotten to her. I dropped the bottles on the drawer and kissed her forehead. It was my first time doing it since after her birth. I left. I hoped she wasn't pretending just like I was, and that she would do what I have instructed.
