Olivia's POV
My gaze remained on the vials that stood in my drawer. Was I supposed to listen to a man who had made my life hell? Or protect a man who was bound to make my life another hell?
Would I ever experience something like freedom in my life? I picked them up. One was red and the other was green. I knew that the red one was poison. That meant that the green one was the one that would lock up his wolf forever.
I took the green one and placed it in my dress. I the red one, I hid it properly. Even if I wasn't going to accept yet, I wasn't also going to allow myself to be jeopardized by it.
It was time for me to begin my service to Devon for the day. I quickly made my way to his chamber. He was seated in his bed with his back to the backrest of the bed. His eyes were on me from the time I entered the room, almost as if he had been expecting me.
I bowed in greeting, putting my hands in a pleading manner before me. His gaze suddenly turned hard, seeing me gesture my greeting. I think I finally understood why he was so angry. He hated being reminded that I was his mate and I was a mute.
Maybe if I was one of the two, he wouldn't be so angry at me. I tried to smile but it kept faltering so I left it altogether.
"Prepare my bath water." He ordered. I bowed and turned to the room by the left. I mixed his water to the perfect degree, took out his body washing kit, and hung his towel close by.
I went back out. I pointed to the bathroom and bowed lightly again.
"For once, can't you just try to say something?" He suddenly snapped.
"M..m.. ah." I stammered. He raised his hand for me to stop and I did. Sighing in frustration, he left.
"Prepare me something to eat." He ordered. I nodded and left. I went to the kitchen and I remembered the vial in my dress. Would he also ask me to taste the food? If he did what was I supposed to do? Was there going to be an antidote for this?
Thinking about it, I didn't bother slipping it into his meal anymore. When I finished cooking, I served him in the dining. He stared at me as I stood beside him.
"What are you waiting for?" He demanded. "Taste the food."
"I could never poison you." I gestured.
"I don't care, taste the food." He repeated. I took two spoons like before. "Drink the water."
I sipped the water from his glass. I don't think he would want to drink from the same glass as me.
"Get me another glass. Get me my bottle of wine." He said.
I left, feeling angry. So he asked me to taste the food because he was afraid I would poison him and also asked me to drink the water huh? Now he was disgusted by me?
I think he needs to lose a little bit of his pride. I got the wine bottle and I took the vial. I opened it and emptied it into the wine bottle then I shut it tight again.
I took it to him.
"What took you so long?" He asked icily.
I didn't know what you would like. I gestured to him. He waved his hand for me to leave.
I did. The moment I left, I began to feel guilty. Perhaps I shouldn't have done it. Not perhaps, I should not have done it.
I wanted to run and hide. I couldn't understand why I allowed my father to instigate me to do such evil to someone else.
I got to my room, pacing to and fro, hoping that nothing bad would happen to him. I hope he doesn't feel any pain or doesn't pass out.
After waiting a few minutes, I went back to check on him. He had finished the meal and was sipping his wine. I tried to stay discreet but he found me immediately.
"Olivia." He called. "don't hide, come and take the dishes away."
I quickly went and carried the plates. I wanted to ask if he enjoyed the meal.
"Did... You... L..ike... the... f... good?" I managed to ask.
He turned to stare at me and he smiled. A genuine smile, not the one that showed his mockery.
"You just spoke." He stated.
It happens once in a while. I gestured to him. I saw the smile falter and eventually, it left his face.
"Have you trained today?" He asked.
I shook my head. I was waiting for you to finish eating.
He nodded. "When you're done with keeping that, you can go and begin your training."
I nodded and then I left. He took more of the wine. It wasn't even remaining that much but I guess he finished it.
He came out to where I was training and he noticed how hard I went. He smiled a little.
Did my father give me a love potion to serve him? Why was he smiling at me?
I disregarded his presence and focused on my training. He walked over to where I stood and gave me a few tips.
I noticed he was drowsy.
Are you okay?
"Yes, I just feel a little drowsy. I think I drank too much." He said.
I nodded. You should go and rest.
He turned and left me. I watched him walk steadily back into the house. I don't know what I would have done if he developed any kind of pain. He would know it was me and that I had done something.
I resumed my training. The feeling of guilt was so much on me, I had to get rid of it. The best thing to do was to sweat it all away.
While I was busy and focused, I felt a presence behind me and before I could turn to check it out, the person spoke.
"I know what you did."
What? My eyes widened in fear and unpleasant surprise.
