Angel

Me, Sunny, and Star have been talking on the phone every day since I met them a few months ago at Chauncey's funeral.

And so far, I'm loving them so much. They're like the little sisters I've never had. We're alike in so many ways.

And the fact that I was connected to my family in some way was refreshing. I never really had any family...

It was just me, my mom, and my father.

My grandmother kicked my mom out after finding out she was pregnant with me at just 15 years old. She ran away with my dad and cut off all contact with her.

But after a few years, my mom wanted to go back home and rekindle things with my grandmother, but as soon as my father found out, he put a end to that quickly.

She ran away with a man she barely knew. Just like I did...

Something in me wants to go and search for my grandmother... But the fear of her maybe being dead always stopped me.

Our plans to meet up and hang out always fell through because of my busy schedule. With me being a nurse, sometimes I would have to stay hours after my shift was supposed to end.

But tonight, they were going to come over to my house and meet Stephanie, Jd, and Dave. Since I did plan on having Sunny and Star in my life, it's only right that I introduce them to people I call my family.

I plan on telling them about my father and how we are related.

Now wait... I know what you're thinking: "Damn Angel you haven't told them yet?!"

Well, no I haven't. I don't want to lose them... As the days went on, the more I fell in love with them. They've brung so much joy into my life. That's another reason on why I haven't seen them again in person yet. This isn't something you tell someone over the phone.

I explained the entire situation to Stephanie and JD. Surprisingly, their goody asses took it very seriously and was very excited to meet the both of them.

Steph was mainly excited because she knew everything I've been through with my family.

David has been very supportive of me and the baby in every way that he can and he's been spending as much time with me as he can. He's at every appointment and lamaze class. Even with Mya on his back.

Ugh. The thought of her made me cringe. The bitch is so aggy. I don't know what David sees in her. I don't know how he deals with her.

Whenever we're together, her insecure ass blows up his phone. Like damn sis, there's nothing to worry about.

I've come to terms with knowing that him and I may never be together. Now don't get me wrong, we still love each other to death. But it may be best if we just coparent and forget about the relationship all together.

All I know is that if she plans on being in David's life, she was going to have to be in my child's life. And she better get it the fuck together if she wants to do that.

I looked down at my round belly. I am now 6 months pregnant and I'm enjoying every second of it. To my back pains, my swollen feet, crazy cravings, the smelly gas that came out at any time, and the ridiculous mood swings.

I'm loving this. And just watching my baby grow gave me butterflies. I was in love with my little bump and so was everyone else. I loved the way my body took to it.

He or she was making me gain a lot of weight though... That's right: We don't know the gender of the baby yet. No one knows except Dr. Armstrong. Me and David both wanted to keep it a secret and have a gender reveal. He swears it's a girl, but I think it's a boy.

After me quickly getting frustrated planning for it, Stephanie and Jd took over. I hope they don't have my shit looking crazy. They seem like they have everything under control though.

As far as David? He just threw me stacks of money saying get whatever I want.

I smiled rubbing my belly.

I can't wait to meet you little butt. As David would say.

My thoughts were cut off as I heard my refrigerator opening. I furrowed my brows and looked at Jd deep in the fridge.

"Jd get your ass out my refrigerator! You didn't even speak to me when you walked in." I said frowning.

"Damn, my bad sis... I'm just hungry as fuck. Where the fuck Dave at with the food?" He whined, shutting the fridge. "Me too... I don't know he should be here any second."

He walked over to me and grabbed my stomach. "Heyyyyy Uncle fat girllllll." He cooed to my stomach. He also thought it was a girl.

I pushed his hands off my stomach. "How are y'all so sure it's a girl."

He shrugged. "Niggas just know." I rolled my eyes. "Bull. Shit." I said waving him off.

"No forreal! See!" He our one hand on my stomach and closed his eyes.

"It's a girl." He opened them back up. "She told me."

I bucked my eyes. "Who told you?!"

"Uhh... Mother nature..." He said in a duh manner.

"You need to stop smoking all that fucking shit Jd." Stephanie said as she came in the house with Wal-mart bags with Dave behind her.

"Ooo! There go my baby mama!" She ran up to Steph and kissed her face. He took the bags out her hands. "Nigga get your old ass off me!" She wiped her face.

"Shut yo fat ass up. You love my old ass." He said walking away. "Mhm whatever."

Dave came up to me wrapped his arms around me. "Hey beautiful how you doing?" He smiled at me as he sat the boxes of pizza on the island.

"I'm good. What about you?" I asked burying my head in his chest, smelling his smell that I loved.

"I'm good." He smiled looking down at me. He crouched down and pulled my cami up revealing my protruding belly.

He laid his hands on it and placed sweet kisses all over it. "Heyyy Daddy little butt!" I smiled watching him. He was so excited about being a dad.

"Daddy big girl." He cooed into my stomach, placed one last kiss on it, and stood up.

"How are y'all so sure it's a girl?!" Me and Steph both yelled. They both shrugged.

"Niggas just know." They said in unison. I pointed at him as I walked over to the grocery bags.

"I'm disappointed in you." I said unpacking them. "What? Why?" He held his hands up.

"I thought you were smarter than that." He laughed and continued to help.

We all stepped back and admired the dinner we put together for tonight.

My mouth watered looking at all the junk food. Dave doesn't let me eat junk food anymore, but "he's going to allow it for tonight".

I rolled my eyes at that thought.

"Yo, we really did a good job..." Jd said. "Yeah we did..." Me, Steph, and David said.

Dave sat down in a stool that was under the island. "Hey bro. I love you." Jd said.

"I love you to." Dave said back to him, sizing him up.

"Naw like foreal. You like my real life brother." He said walking up to him. Dave stood up and they started tussling.

"No! Wait!" Jd said. He punched Dave in the shoulder and Dave slapped the back of his head. "Bitch!"

"Oh my god! YALL STOP!" Me and Stephanie yelled. Just as we said that, the doorbell rang.

"Go get the door!" I yelled as I pushed Dave off of Jd. "Y'all to fucking old to be playing like that!"

"You better be lucky she holding me back bitch." He pointed as Jd as he walked to get the door.

Soon, Sunny and Star walked in. I instantly got happy seeing them.

"Hi everyone!" They both yelled. "Heyyy!" Everyone said back with a smile. "Oh my goodness it smells so good in here!"

Sunny came up to me and hugged me while Star introduced herself to everyone. "Oh my gosh! You're so big now!" She said rubbing my belly.

I smiled big and we laughed. "I know I know!" She pulled me into another hug. "I missed you so much!" She whispered to me. "I missed you too..." I said on the verge of tears.

She pulled back and Star came up to me and hugged me while Sunny went around introducing herself.

"Bitccccchhhhh who is that fine ass man that answered the door? I-is that baby daddy?..." She whispered to me. I couldn't help but laugh at her. "Yes!"

She smirked at me. "Girrrll shit!" She fanned herself. "Mya who? Shidd... If I was you, I'd have my pussy in his mouth all night... And say my name! Louder! Harder!" She joked.

"OOP!" I laughed with my mouth open.

"Okurr..." Steph said to her and they high fived each other. "If you know what I'm saying." Star mumbled to Steph.

"No I feel you, I feel you."

"Okay you guys, um there's food and games!" I spoke over everyone's chatter. "What y'all wanna do first: eat or play?"

"Eat." Everyone said in unison.

"Well alright. Let's eat." I smiled.

"Nigga give me my money!!!" Dave yelled at Jd. We were currently Monopoly and this shit was hilarious.

"You know what? I'm not giving you a damn thing." He crosses his arms and sat back on the couch.

"Shitting me." Dave said as he chuckled.

"I'm tired of y'all asses taking my money!" Jd yelled. "WHO?!" We said in unison.

"YALL! EVERYBODY!" He pointed his finger at everyone. "Y'all asses cheating... And I know you helping her cheat!" He yelled at Dave as he pointed to me. He was right. We were all cheating hell. Jd was just to slow to catch on.

"Nigga ain't nobody cheating! You just don't know how to play!" Star yelled defending me and Dave. We all started snickering.

"Oh so y'all think it's funny. Y'all think it's funny?" He sat up and wiped the board game off the table. All the pieces went flying everywhere and we all burst into laughter.

"Now nobody can cheat." He sat back.

"Wowwww Jd!" "That's really how you feel?" We said laughing. "Ain't shit funny." He smirked.

We all got up and started picking up the pieces to the board game. Putting them in the box, Steph spoke up.

"Um excuse us you guys. We're going to let you have some alone time with Angel." She gave me the eye. I knew what that meant.

Fuck.

I was putting off telling them all night.

Dave got up and Steph followed behind him to the stairs. But Jd didn't. He sat there with his arms folded.

"JD." Steph said sternly. "Ion have to get nowhere. I don't have to do shit she say." He mumbled under his breath.

"Jd. I have to come down these sta-" Jd hopped up. "Yes ma'am!" He ran up the stairs behind her.

Me, Sunny, and Star snickered. "They're so crazy." Sunny said. I sighed. "Yeah they are."

"But Ang, why have you been avoiding seeing us?" Star frowned. "Yeah, we noticed it. You didn't want to hang out with us?" Sunny said sadly. My head shot up.

"No no no! I love hanging out with you guys! Really I do!" I exclaimed. "It's just..." I paused.

"What Angel?" Sunny scooted in. I stayed quiet. "I just don't wanna lose you guys..." I said in the verge of tears.

"Awww, you won't... It's okay you can tell us." Star said and she grabbed my hand.

I let out a deep breath. "Damion is my father."

"W-what?" They both said. I nodded my head. "B-But how is that possible?" Star said. "Yeah how? We never known about him having any kids... We haven't seen him in years... After our family disowned him, we would see him every once and a while, but all over a sudden he stopped coming around..." Star said.

"I didn't know about you guys either! He never talked about his family or brought me or mom around. I didn't know until you called him 'Uncle Damion'. It had all made since at that point: Chauncey having the same last name as me, me feeling like I knew him even though I had never met him in my life, everything." I said softly. Tears were now falling down my face.

"The reason why I ran out the church that day is because I saw him and I haven't seen my father in years. He went to prison a long time ago for raping and sexually abusing me for most of my childhood. That explains why he stopped coming around. But he's out now, I guess..." I said looking down.

"Oh my gosh Angel... We're so sorry..." Sunny said as she held on to me. I cried into her chest.

"We're so sorry that that happened to you Angel..." Star said hugging me.

"I-it's okay... I just-" I sighed. "I don't want you guys to be mad at me. I've been really enjoying your company and you guys are really the only thing I have as far as blood family that I know of. My mother is dead. I never met my grandmother. And my father went to prison."

"Angel why would we be mad at you? Thats not your fault that that happened to you... We love you Angel. And we're so happy that you came into our lives. And at the right time too. I mean we're a little upset that you know we didn't get to meet you earlier in life but we're here now." Sunny said rubbing my back.

"Yeah. We love you Angel. We couldn't have wished for anything better. You did the right thing by telling someone about Damion. I'm not surprised by what he did to you." Star said.

My head shot up. "What do you mean?"

"Well when we were younger, we weren't allowed to be around him alone. We never understood why though. And we remember asking him one day why and Daddy told us that he went to jail for doing something bad to little girls up the street." She said.

"Yeah. But when we asked him how'd he get out he said some lady named 'Caroline' got him out." Sunny said.

Caroline. Caroline.

Caroline was my mother's name... Did my mom know about him being sick before he started to touch me and still let him be around me? How could you stay with someone that's that ill? How could you allow them to be around your child knowing that they could easily be his next victim...

I stayed quiet. I didn't know what to say. They were telling me something I didn't know before...

"But Angel we love you okay? We're so glad you told us..." Sunny said. I nodded my head and smiled. "Okay." They both hugged me.

"So this means we like cousins now right? Like real blood cousins?" Star spoke up.

I nodded my head and laughed. "Yeah."

She screamed. "Oh my gosh! Sunny I'm so glad we found someone in our family we actually like! We can go go to family reunions together! A-and go take family photos!" We all laughed.

"Yeah! We can..." I nodded my head. I was so happy that I finally found that void in my heart I was always trying to fill: family. A real one. I'll be complete as soon as my little butt gets here...

Jd

As I walked up to kiss Stephanie she just pushed me back. We were in Angel's guest room and I was trying to give Steph some of my love. It's been a while since we seen each other and I missed her...

"Yo Steph, what's up witchu?" I asked confused.

"Fuck you mean 'what's up with me'?" She retorted.

"I've been trying to kiss you and hold you all night and you've just been pushing me away." She smacked her lips and waved me off.

"No I'm serious. Even when we text. You've been mean as fuck lately. Almost as if you don't wanna talk to me..." I whispered. "I don't." I felt my heart break.

"Damn..." I said looking down. It was quiet for a minute.

"You been feeling somebody else?" I spoke up.

"Why would it matter if I was Jd? We not together. You run around with other bitches but I don't say shit."

She was right. We weren't together. Even after all these months. It's just been me and her running around and fucking. The sex is great, but I want more from her. I mean I fuck with other girls from time to time, but that's only because I thought Steph wasn't ready for anything serious. I love Stephanie. But I just never told her, but I always made sure I showed her. She's different... Something about her made me want more...

I walked up to her and looked into her eyes. I gently grabbed both sides of her face. "Stephanie I love you. Okay? I do."

"You don't love me Jaceyon. You love being able to fuck me whenever you want and still have your bitches to go play with. I'm tired of that." She whispered. I sat down on the bed.

"Steph you and I both know that you weren't ready for anything serious. Hell the way you acted I didn't even know if you wanted me around..."

"But you never asked Jaceyon!" She yelled.

"I didn't have to. Your actions showed me everything." I got up.

"Steph I love you. I always did and I always will. I just want you to be happy... And if you feel like moving on will make you happy then..." I sighed. I walked back up to her and kissed her lips one last time. Tears fell out of her eyes.

As I was pecking her soft lips, I felt my heart breaking... I've never felt this feeling before.

"I hope he gives you everything I couldn't..."

I let her go and walked out of the room.
