“What do you mean they’re gone?”

“They left. They haven’t been there for days.”

“I told you what you needed to do, and you failed.” The man pulled out a gun and aimed it at the guys that failed him.

“Give me some time; I’m sure I can find them.”

“Cannin, put the gun down.”

“No, he had one job, and he fucked up.” Cannon didn’t give any warning and pulled the trigger, killing the man with one shot to the head.

“What has gotten into you? I told you to put the gun down.”

“You’d better shut your mouth, Beth.”

“You’re getting too worked up over this child.”

Cannin walked over to Beth. “You know nothing, so shut the fuck up.”

Cannon let go of her and left the room. He was beyond angry; he was so close, and it was all ripped away because of the stupidity of the people he hired.

The night he was shot, Kyle changed everything. He’d spent the past few months planning how to get his child back. He needed that child.

The child would inherit everything if anything happened to him.

“It’s so beautiful here. Why did you ever leave?” Kyle asked Max.

She had been taking turns going on dates with Max and Dimitri, and tonight it was Max’s turn. She wanted some alone time with each brother before the baby came.

“Our father moved us to the States after our mother died. He wanted to expand the business and a change of scenery.”

“What was your mother’s name?”

“Evelina.”

“I bet she was a lovely person.”

“She was the best, and after all these years, I still miss her.”

“I know how you feel. Before I found out my mother was alive, I missed her a lot. I miss my father too—the guy who raised me, not Viktor.

“Now I’m just furious at my mother. How could she just leave us?”

“Maybe she had a reason. Let’s not dwell on that and enjoy our time today.”

Kyle knew Max was right: she shouldn’t be wasting time on things that didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was her family, and that included Max and Dimitri.

“Are you okay?” Anatoli asked Kyle, and she shifted for the millionth time in the last twenty minutes.

“Yeah, I just have a lot of pressure in the pelvic area today.”

“Do I need to go get a doctor?”

“No... ahh.”

Anatoli got out his phone and didn’t wait for Kyle to say anything.

“Hey, I think your girl is getting ready to have the baby; you guys need to get back here... okay... all right, call me when you get there.” He hung up the phone and placed it in his pocket.

“We’re going to the hospital. Max and Dimitri will meet us there.”

Anatoli grabbed Kyle’s arm and helped her up. “Do you have a to-go bag?”

“Yes. It’s in my room.”

“I’ll help you to the car, and then I’ll go get it.”

Anatoli made sure she was situated in the car before quickly running back inside for her bag. It took a few minutes to locate, but as soon as he did, he ran back to the car.

Kyle let out another groan as another contraction went through her.

“How far are we from the hospital?”

“Just five minutes, so we’ll be there shortly.”

Anatoli drove as fast as he could; he was secretly freaking out. He didn’t know what to do, and so when they reached the hospital, he got out and got a nurse to help bring Kyle in.

“Can you come with me until Max and Dimitri get here?”

He was a bit freaked out, but he knew it was important to her. “Yeah.”

“Thank you.”

Fifteen minutes later, Kyle was in a room with nurses going in and out, checking on her and the baby.

“Max just texted and said they were a few minutes away.”

“Thank you for staying with me.”

“Is everything all right?” Dimitri asked as he walked through the door.

“Everything is fine,” Kyle assured him.

“But you’re not due for another few weeks.”

“The doctor said everything looks okay.”

Kyle clutched the side of the bed as a contraction hit her.

“I’m not sure I can handle much more of this.”

“Come on, ~myshka~; you can do it. One more push.”

Kyle had been pushing for the past forty-five minutes, and she was exhausted. She took a deep breath and pushed as hard as she could.

“Good job,” Max said, kissing her on the head.

“You have a baby girl,” the doctor announced.

Kyle let out a sob at the sound of her daughter crying.

They cleaned up the little girl and gave her to Kyle. Both Max and Dimitri were in awe of their daughter and the woman who gave them this gift.

“How long have I been out?”

“Just a few hours,” Max responded without taking his eyes off their daughter.

“Dimitri went to get food. Once he gets back, we’ll need to discuss names.”

“I have one in mind, but we will wait for Dimitri to discuss it.”

Kyle watched Max as he gently walked around the room with the baby. She loved seeing the gentle side of him. She also knew that their daughter would have both men wrapped around her finger.

“I didn’t know what you wanted, ~myshka~, so I got Chinese and some salads.”

“Thank you,” she said with a smile.

“Since you’re back, how about we discuss names for our little girl?” Max stated.

“I told Max that I had a name picked out, but it’s different ones that I’ve been thinking about.

“I want our child to carry a family name, and since she’s a girl, we could go with Dimitria Maxwell, or I was thinking Evelina Ryanne. You know, after your mother and my brother.”

Both men looked at her, and she noticed Dimitri had tears in his eyes. He took the baby from Max and kissed her head.

“She feels like an Evelina Ryanne. We can call her Evie for short.”

“The name does fit her,” Max agreed.

“Then it’s settled. Evelina Ryanne Volkov is what we’ll call her.”

Kyle couldn’t believe she was blessed with so much love and couldn’t wait to see what the future would bring for their little one.
