Setting Me On Fire1,674 words~9 min read

Devoured

When I got home, I changed into a red sleeveless high-slit dress. My hair was down, downstairs you can hear the electronic dance music vibrating through the floor. I give myself one last glance before I descend the stairs.

A bunch of curious eyes look up at me, but the first person I see is him, Alexander. His sunglasses now resting on his hair. He doesn't break eye contact and I feel my body heat up again.

Amber rushes over and gives me a wineglass.  I inwardly thank her for saving me from melting under his eyes. She takes my hand and takes me to our living room and straight to Jacob Elordi.

"Oh wow," he extends his hand, I shake it. "It's Ms. Amborisa, the uprising Fashion director in our mist."

I put my hand by my side and offer him a smile. "And it's you, the Euphoria star." He laughs and nods.

"Yup, that's me." I nod and look at Amber with a look, she gets the message, and I walk away. I make my way to the kitchen to see what I can eat, the food our chefs made was probably delicious. I make my way through the throng, and finally, make it to the kitchen.

I spot Marco, talking to a blonde woman who looked like a model. I let him be and joined the others as they grabbed a plate and served themselves. As I serve myself, I hear people cheer from the other space of the penthouse. I guess people were having fun. That was guaranteed.

I grab a spoon and walk over to the sliding doors that lead to my inside pool. The walls were glass, the ceiling was stone, with a window that would be useful during the steaming hot days in the summer.

I plop down on a lounge chair by the pool and cross my legs. Sometimes, I preferred to be alone. I liked the moments when I wasn't surrounded by people every second of every day. I was usually in a room full of people, during meetings and planning out outfits, and whatnot. It was all chaos, this was my moment to just recline.

Perhaps, I was getting old, but everyone needs time for themselves once in a while.

I eat my food and look at the view of New York, the lights shimmering around me. I could see the lamps from Central Park glow in the night. People walk down paths, but they looked like ants. I was a giant up here.

"Why are you all alone?" I look up and see Alexander by the sliding doors. He looks behind him and closes the door before he makes his way toward me. I grab my wineglass and swallow a mouth full.

I look at the view and ignore him as he takes a seat on the lounge chair beside me. I could feel his eyes digging a hole in the side of my face as I look at the city glow. "You're so reclusive," he says now.

I look over at him, our eyes meet, and he cocks his head. He's doing that studying me thing he did before. What exactly was he trying to find? The reasons why I was distant? The reasons my heart was reserved? Why do I peel myself off the rest of the world?

I didn't want to eat anymore, I stand up and toss it in the garbage and slide the door open. I left him there and made my way to my room, I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone anymore.

I walked up the stairs and then down the hall to my room. I walk to my window and slide it open before proceeding onto the balcony. When my door clicks open and closed, I ignore it. I place my hands on the railing and glance down at the busy streets of 59th.

I see him leaning against the railing beside me. What did he want? I just wanted to be alone, to soak in the pleasure of solitude. I didn't see anything wrong with that. I was exhausted, I woke up early and barely slept the past few days just thinking about him, and work.

"I don't know what, but something about you pulls me in, like a magnet. It drives me crazy how you can resist me," he says. I look over at him. He's staring at me. He continues, "I find your resistance quite intimidating."

He moves closer to me. I recognize the look in his eye, the intensity that radiates through them onto mine. It was the same way he looked at me the same day he walked into my room when I was in a towel.

He looks down at my lips, I know he wanted to kiss me because I wanted to kiss him. Whatever he was feeling I was feeling too. Moving through my body like waves rippling through my skin. But I couldn't, I just couldn't.

He steps closer, and we're standing so close I can smell the wine on his breath. My breath catches in my throat as he leans closer. Glancing at my eyes, and my lips, up and down.  His lips were almost touching mine.

"I should stop you," I say in a small voice.

He looks me in the eye and says, "But will you?" His eyes stay on mine, and I feel my heart beating against my chest like someone banging on the door.

I pull away, but he pulls me back to him with his hand on the small of my back. "I can't do this." I close my eyes as he slides his hands through my hair in such a seductive way it makes me dizzy. The heat between us gets hotter, burning me with desire.

I pull away in a quick move and walk back into my room. My back is to him as I hear him walk up to me from behind. His hand slides down my arm, and I feel my skin sizzle with heat.

Why am I just standing here? How does he get me this way? Melting under his touch, weak to my knees.

He slowly pulls my thin spaghetti straps down from my shoulder, and his finger sends a shiver down my spine. He does it to the other side before he sets kisses on my neck leading down my shoulder, so tenderly it makes me gasp. My breath hitches and I feel myself turning my neck, giving him full access to my neck as he comes back up.

My eyes close and I feel myself getting dizzy, my body becomes compelled under his kisses. I couldn't take it anymore, I turn around and go for a kiss, but he stops me. I look up at him with confusion.

"What do you feel?"

"Why does that matter, just let..." I go in for a kiss again, and he holds me back. Now I stare at his lips with desperation. I need him to kiss me. To devour me. Why is he holding back, wasn't this what he wanted?

"Do you want me?" I nod without a single thought. He leans into my ear giving me deja vu. "What do I make you feel?"

"Everything," I say. "I feel everything."

He leans back and looks deeply into my eyes. "I doubt that, I haven't even given you the full course."

"But it's true, you have," I say then pause. What am I doing? I've been under his spell and I gave him exactly what he wanted. To see me melt under his touch. I step back and sit on the end of my bed. I look down at my hands.

This had to be the wine talking. Why was I giving in? That easily? So desperately? I still felt it in me, the desire to rip his clothes apart. But now I just felt cheap. Easy. I feel him sit beside me on the bed. Then he flops back and stays that way.

I look back and see his eyes closed. Did he just fall asleep on my bed? I can't have that? I was tired too though, but he can't sleep here. I shake him. But he seems out of it, he doesn't budge. I decide to forget about him and walk into my walk-in closet.

I grab my silk jams and slip out of my dress. "You are so fucking perfect," Alexander says from behind me. I turn round and hide my body with the jams. He smirks and walks up to me. Not this again.

I back up, and he follows me all around the island sitting in the center of the closet until I come to a wall that slams behind me. Before I can move, he blocks my way with his arm. I look up at him as I hold the clothes over my body. The undergarments didn't feel like enough coverage.

He looks deep into my eyes, and then he looks down at my hands holding my jams tightly. He smirks and looks up at me amused. His next words though, sound deep, raspy, and serious as he says, "I want you."

His face moves to mine, and he brushes his lips over mine. Was he teasing me? And he does it again and again, my eyes close. My jams fall from my grip and I feel his hand on my cheek, before I know it he kisses me. And I feel my body explode. I hug him closer to my body and moan into our kiss. He pulls away and takes off his blazer, and removes his shoes before he proceeds to carry me bridal style to my bed. He lays me down, locks my door, closes the sliding doors of my window, and comes back to me.

He removes his turtle neck, and his pants, and then makes sure I'm under the covers before he makes me melt into the night.
