Not even five minutes had passed before an annoying banging sounded on Firey's bedroom door. "Fireyyyy, I'm bored."
Firey sighed and closed his laptop, glaring at the door. "What do you want me to do about that?"
"Give me the-" Coiny paused as he opened the door, peeking inside at Firey for a moment before basically throwing the door fully open. "Give me the grand tour of your humble living space."
Firey blinked. "There's this room, the bathroom, and then the living room that's connected to the kitchen. You've seen it all."
"Hmm,, I haven't seen a lot of your room. So if you don't mind me snooping I'll-" And suddenly Firey is up out of bed ushering Coiny out of the room.
"Fine, Fine! Grand tour it is!" Anything to prevent Coiny going through his room. He'd tidied up a bit on the off chance Coiny would see his room, but it was still a mess.
Firey stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him, making a half-hearted sweeping gesture. "Hallway. Bathroom is the door to the right, my room is the other."
"...Firey, the door you just closed is the door on the right side. To your room." Coiny smirked.
"Shut the fuck up."
Coiny laughs and then 'shuts the fuck up' as Firey put it. For only a second though. "Show me the kitchen. What snacks can I not have? I won't mess with your snacks, that's a line even I don't cross."
Firey paused, remembering the gummies he'd taken from Coiny's hideout. They still sat atop his nightstand. ...He should really hide those, or maybe eat them, like you're supposed to do with gummies.
Firey stood in the kitchen area. It was connected to the living room, and only really made distinctive by the tiled floor. "It's not much, and most of my shit is thrifted, but here's my kitchen. Don't touch the oreos."
Coiny was definitely going to touch the oreos, but not in front of Firey, at least. Firey was right when he said it wasn't much, but it was homey, and looked well used. "Are you able to cook?" he looked in the pantry, and found much less instant ramen than he was expecting. (much less instant ramen than at his own house, too)
"I've watched online tutorials, I can bake some stuff too." Firey shrugged, "Leafy got me a cookbook once but i couldn't read it for shit so.."
Coiny nodded, looking at Firey out of the corner of his eye as he went through more cabinets. The aforementioned cookbook was in one, having collected dust from however long it was sitting there. Coiny took it out and blew off some of the dust before flipping to a random page.
"Hmmm,, D'you have ingredients for empanadas?" The recipe looked complex, but Coiny was sure they could dumb it down a little.
Firey blinked at him, confused. "I have beef? Tortillas or something would probably be easier, and quicker. We don't know if the power might be going out anytime soon."
"Tortillas it is!" Coiny closed the book, sending dust flying. He put it back into the cabinet and began looking for ingredients. "Where do you keep your spices? Please tell me you have spices."
"Of course I have spices. Who said we were cooking, though?"
Coiny kept searching, almost frantically, never meeting Firey's eyes. It was like he needed to be doing something... like he was nervous. "You said it yourself, we don't know if the power may go out soon. Better to have a warm meal before that happens, right?"
"I guess..." Firey stepped behind Coiny, reaching over him to retrieve the seasonings he couldn't reach on the highest shelf. "I'm gonna be working the stovetop though, I'm not trusting you near a stove after what happened in 9th grade chemistry."
"Fuck off! That was one time!!" Coiny was very pointedly not going to look at Firey reaching over him or think about his stomach pressed to his back, instead opting to look at lower shelves for tortillas. "...But yeah, you're in charge of the stove."
Coiny felt his warmth leave as Firey finally gathered the few spices he was looking for into his arms and stepped back, placing them onto the counter and then retrieving a pan from a nearby hook. Coiny chewed his lip before standing with tortillas in hand and composing himself.
Half of him wishes he could just walk home in the rain right here right now, but he's succumbed to a fate of having to stay the night at Firey's, and he's not going to risk getting sick and rained on for the sake of avoiding this. Well, he did have an umbrella. He could take that risk and would probably get home but... staying gives him an chance to apologize. He doesn't know if he'll get this chance again. Alone, face to face, he's going to fix things.
He hopes.
