Chapter 27 of 36

You got me in your pocket

Revelations (Fireoiny + Pinleaf)835 words~5 min read

Leafy stood outside the door, checking the address on her phone one last time to make sure it was right. She felt... nervous. Like, way too nervous for just hanging out with a friend. She chalked it up to nerves over this being her first time hanging out with Pin outside of school, but there was something else.

Gosh, it always felt like something else with Pin, and Leafy just couldn't put her finger on why. So, she knocked on the door and gripped the strap of her book bag, hoping that would stop her hands from fidgeting.

The door slightly opened and Leafy perked up, a sweet aroma wafting from inside. The door opened the rest of the way to reveal Pin wearing a black sports bra and sweatpants, and a baggy maroon jacket over her shoulders. She looked comfy, and Leafy could just fall to her knees right then and there. Something else.

"Leafy!! Hi." Pin greeted her, and it took way more effort than it should have for Leafy to tear her eyes away from her stomach. She has a belly button piercing.

Leafy smiled, something else. "Hi Pin, I'm gonna guess those are...... sugar cookies?" Pin stepped aside to allowed the noirette entry, and Leafy brushed pass, pretending she didn't feel bumblebees where their skin touched.

"You'd be right. Welcome to my humble abode," she closed the door behind her.

Leafy took in the entryway. A shoe rack, more populated with fake succulents and odd glass animals than shoes. She leaves her shoes at the door as courtesy.

The two walk into the living room, which is only separated from the kitchen by a counter with which more odd trinkets sit.

"Rookie! Off the furniture." Leafy looks back to the living room, where a skinny gray dog is perched atop the headrest of a plush loveseat. "We've been over this, you're gonna fall and eat shit one day man."

Leafy giggles, "you're talking to him like he's a toddler." it's endearing.

"Well he acts like one sometimes!"

Pin scoops the dog into her arms and brings him over to Leafy. He doesn't squirm or bark, probably a good sign. Leafy reaches up and scratches behind his ears. He's not the prettiest of dogs, but he's calm and leaning into her hand and Pin can focus on nothing but her contented expression.

How can a girl be so pretty?

"What was that?"

shit, did she say that out loud? "Ahh uh. Uhm. Y-you heard from Firey since yesterday?"

Leafy looks confused for a moment, but shrugs and continues to pet Rookie. "I asked him why he disappeared and he confirmed that they'd fought. He's sad about it but doesn't wanna open up, I'm not gonna pry."

"hm." Pin felt bad for Firey and Coiny, but hell if she was gonna let them be a distraction from her date- hangout? date??- sleepover with Leafy. She drops Rookie and goes to grab the TV remote. "You familiar with The Good Place, Leafster?"

Leafy shakes her head and sits on the couch, back straight and hands in her lap. Rookie jumps up onto the couch, Pin refrains from scolding him this once, more focused on Leafy's mannerisms. Is she... nervous? Pin stands and heads into the kitchen- which is 10 steps from the couch mind you- and begins moving the cookies from the tray onto a plate.

Leafy watches, feeling something else about the silver ball on Pin's naval.

——————————

They're 2 episodes in and the entire time, Leafy has sat like she's at a choir rehearsal, hands clasping and unclasping in her lap. Pin pretends not to notice, but it's honestly making her nervous too.

So, she hatches a plan.

1. Get Leafy to relax

2. Flirt.

3. if all else fails, maybe get high???

She sighed to herself.

"Wanna watch something else?" Leafy prompted. Pin didn't even realize she'd looked away from the screen.

"Like what?"

Leafy paused, a warm blush enveloping her face for a moment. "...I've uh, I've heard of this vampire series called First Kill? It looks like something you'd be into."

"Because I'm a lesbian?" Pin smirked. Teasing, easy way to break the ice!

Leafy buffered for a second, and she looked genuinely afraid that she'd offended Pin for a second before her brain caught up to her. Sarcasm, right. I get it!!

"Yes, Pin. Because you're a lesbian."

And there it was, a smile. The nerves didn't melt from her completely, but her shoulders relaxed and she finally, finally, let her back sink into the cushions.

Pin took the remote and turned on First Kill. Despite the lesbianism, she hadn't watched it, so they'd both be in the dark with this.

And Pin was definitely going to pull the "stretch and put your arm over the other person's shoulder" schtick.
