Suspicions and swooning

"So Pin, y'know how I have my House of Hiding From Life?" Coiny spoke, twisting around in his chair to face his tall friend.

"I still think that name is too long and depressing, but yeah why?" Pin replied, all the while doodling on a piece of paper with a green marker she'd stolen from her previous teacher.

"I could just be paranoid, but I think Firey and Leafy might've found it."

"Why do you say that?" she spared a glance forward before going back to drawing.

"I could've sworn I heard Leafy's voice from the other side of the book shelves, and when I got back into the school Firey was sitting outside of the library and she'd just came from that direction." Coiny put his arm on the back of his chair before resting his head on it.

"Leafy goes to the library like.. every morning, she probably just took Firey with her."

"Maybe... I'm still gonna keep an eye on them though." Coiny glanced to where the two usually sat across the room, only Leafy being currently present. "anyway, what're you drawing?"

Pin sighed dreamily, "her. We're going to have lunch together again today and she's just so... pretty." Pin smiled, her tone dripping with infatuation.

Coiny snickered. "You'd be cute together, but she is dating Firey."

This prompted Pin to momentarily stop doodling, "you sure about that?" she mumbled too quiet for Coiny to hear, a smirk on her face.

"What? speak up." Coiny lifted his head, trying to get a closer look at her artwork.

"Is that not the whole point of us fake dating? Well at least on my side, but still." Pin pointed out, looking up at the brunette again.

Coiny thought for a moment. "I guess, just wanna make sure you're not too high on cloud 9."

"Yeah yeah, thanks for looking out for me. I think I'll be fine though."

Coiny shrugged, "If you say so."

He went to check the clock to see when the second bell was set to ring, only for his vision to be briefly obscured by someone passing by.

Firey.

Coiny smiled mischievously before remembering his previous suspicions. Why did he take longer than usual to get here?  He thought, leaning his head on his hand. Eh, might as well fuck with him all class.

----------------

Firey sat down, and was definitely contemplating avoiding Leafy all class. Though, he realized, it wouldn't be all that difficult. As Leafy had mentioned before, they're going to take a test when class starts.

Leafy wouldn't be distracted from her pre-test prep, and Firey immediately went to study his notes before the teacher got there. Only to see something hit his desk out of the corner of his eye.

A paper football? ..oh right, I have Coiny in this class. Firey thought back to his and Leafy's conversation outside of the library.

"—Have you ever... considered... that you could possibly, y'know..... like him?"

The words had been replaying in his head all morning. Firey sighed and looked in Coiny's direction as he lent to pick up the paper football. Do I? I've never liked anyone before, so why would I like him?

They made eye contact, and Firey meant to glare, but paused as he felt his face get warm. He quickly turned away and stuffed the, now crumpled up, paper in his pocket.

I don't. We're rivals, nothing more.

The bell signaling the end of class finally rung, and everyone tiredly shuffled out of the room, brains offline from whatever the fuck test they'd just taken.

Coiny audibly sighed as he reached his locker and began packing the stuff he'd need for his next class. One with Firey.

"Pin, you think I could cheat off you next test?" Coiny said jokingly, but from a place of pain.

"Being totally honest, I had no idea what the hell was going on on that one." Pin leaned her head on her locker. "You think Leafy did? I wanna ask her to help me study."

"Pfft, let me third wheel."

Pin glared.

"Or not, that test was the end of the unit so I'll probably be fine." Coiny held his hands up in surrender, only to feel something small hit the back of his head.

He whipped around, and a few feet from him stood the one and only, Firey. Coiny looked down to see what he assumed was his paper football, which was now crumbled up into an unrecognizable bundle.

He felt brief disappointment, that took me forever to fold. Coiny shook his head and looked up again to see Firey trying to just walk away. After pulling a stunt like that? No way.

"Coiny? what're you-" Pin was going to ask why the brunette had suddenly bolted from his locker, before seeing Firey, and Leafy farther ahead, walking away from him.

Coiny reached up towards Firey's head from behind, and took the rubber band that was holding his hair. Pin watched as the taller's hair fell and he turned to try to get the band back.

Pin sighed and went to break them up, or at least that's what she would've done if she hadn't gotten distracted by a certain noirette.

Leafy had stopped and was now tiredly watching the two, an unamused expression on her face.

"Yo Leafster, you wanna break them up?" Pin realized she couldn't hear her own voice, and leafy was looking at her and motioning that she couldn't hear either, so Pin decided to use sign.

"Wanna break them up or..."

"We have 4th period together right? let's go."

Pin smiled and went to follow Leafy to their class, sparing a glance back to see the two idiots fighting.

Why's Firey so red??
