Coiny mentally groaned, "why did Pin invite me to this dumb party? There's nothing to do and the music isn't even that good... " the strobe lights, some multi-colored, some just white, illuminated the otherwise pitch black room.

he pushed off of the wall he was leaning on and scanned the room.

"Where did she even go?" after thinking that, he spotted Pin walking over to a group of girls, some he recognized. She looked... nervous? That's strange for Pin, being the overly social extrovert she is.

He knew why soon enough, among that group was her long time crush, Leafy.

Coiny chuckled to himself, "oh Pin..." he sighed, taking a sip from one of those highschool-movie-esc red cups. Just as he was lowering it from his face, someone crashed into him, sending them both onto the ground, and his drink onto his shirt.

"Watch it, do you lack depth perception or someth-" Coiny was on his way to yelling an incoherent amount of curses, only to stop upon seeing who'd rammed into him.

Fucking Firey. of course. The idiot who somehow managed to make his hair glow in black light, nobody knew how, he never explained.

"Oh, it's uh.." Firey stammered. Was he nervous? He couldn't be, the hot-headed, annoying, loud mouthed, attracti-

"Stop thinking like that!" Coiny's hands balled into fists, he glared at the boy, scooting back.

"Watch where you're going, prick." Coiny stood and dusted himself off, still glaring into Firey's soul. Firey mimicked his actions, standing taller than him.

"Maybe if you, uh.. weren't so... u-unnoticeable I wouldn't have to." he replied, leaning against the table behind him. Why was this idiot more jumpy than usual?

Coiny reached up to slap him, as the two usually do, but Firey sunk down and glared back.

"You're not supposed to dodge!" Coiny grumbled, trying to land another slap, only for Firey to block it with the back of his hand.

"So what? Am I just supposed to let you hit me?" The orange-head glanced to his side, causing Coiny to do the same. People were starting to notice the two arguing, and familiar noirette was approaching Firey.

"Do you two really have to do this now? It's a party! You two can be civil for a night, right?" it was Leafy, of course. She held her hands in front of her in a polite manner, but both the boys had seen her true temper before, and they didn't want to be on the bad side of that.

The two stood and Coiny crossed his arms, Firey strangely copying his movements. "...no promises, Firey's face looks even stupider in party lights." Coiny smirked, he didn't want to start anything, it was just funny to irritate the boy.

"and it's a good coverup." thoughts like that had been slipping into the shorters mind more than usual recently. "what a lie, his eyes are gorgeous in-"

Smack!

Coiny gasped and glared harder than ever at Firey. While he'd been briefly zoned out, Firey had slapped him! The audacity.

He went to hit him back, resulting in a childish slap fight between the two. Leafy was simply watching the two, an tired expression upon her face.

A small crowd started to form, mostly of people from other classes who didn't know about the two's constant fights. Some placed bets, others simply laughed.

Then shit went down.

"They fight like a married couple! No way the one on the left isn't somewhat... y'know?" Coiny could imagine the person speaking flicking their wrist with the emphasis of "somewhat" Coiny had been out as bi for years, so he assumed they meant him.

but he wasn't the one on the left.

Firey had frozen up upon hearing married couple leaving Coiny still slapping.

"Hah! I got the last hit!" he felt himself being pulled back by his shoulders, and heard a sigh from behind him. He looked back to see Pin dragging him back from Firey.

"Aww! young love." the same voice sarcastically said. He then heard Needy- Needle talking to that person.

The crowd was somewhat dispersing, but wasn't very quiet, as this was a loud party with people and music. He could still make out some bits of conversation clinging onto that statement, and by the look on Firey's face, he did too.

"They won't admit it but this rivalry has gone on for years and has such romantic undertones... though they both have like, girl best friends so maybe not?" upon hearing that, Coiny's cheeks dusted pink and he looked down.

does it really seem like that?? it couldn't...

Coiny glanced back up, only to see Firey now clinging to Leafy.

"Pssh! N-no way, I'm totally dating Leafy! Coiny's annoying and stupid!" Firey looked nervous.

Coiny's face morphed into a minor scowl. annoying and stupid? real mature... he stood up straight and put his arm around Pin.

"Yeah, and I'm dating Pin! I might be bi but c'mon, I have standards!" Coiny spat, only momentarily breaking out of his anger to send a I'msosorrypleasejustgoalongwithit glance to Pin.

Firey looked offended, and kind of hurt, but that didn't stop Coiny from simply stomping off, Pin in tow.

"Care to explain??" Pin spoke once the two were behind a pillar out of everyone's way.

"Yeah, yeah whatever." Coiny rolled his eyes.
