Chapter 6 Zayla Defends Him The door of the conference room was opened. Zayla pulled the chair out and placed her hands on the conference table. Although she was smiling gently, it made people shiver.
âMr. Lucero, I am a legitimate child of the Vargas family. How come I never knew that my brother should thank you for his position as president?â
Zaylaâs words caused an uproar.
âYou⦠You are Zayla?â Kylian Lucero didnât recognize her and was a little surprised.
Over the past five years, Zayla had disappeared completely. She had never shown up in the Vargas Group!
âIt seems that Mr. Lucero has eye problems. Tomorrow, I will get an expert to give you a thorough examination.â
Look! She was so domineering and sassy.
Her words were harsh.
She just said what she thought freely.
âZayla, you are so rude! You have no manners!â
âI have no choice. I am a legitimate kid and spoiled by everyone. I am not as sweet and obedient as my brother. He respects you, but you, as his elder, take it for granted and act like a jerk to him.â
Zayla reeled off. She excelled in disrespecting people. Kylian was stunned.
The other shareholders knew that Zayla was tough and had been a famous badass since childhood!
They talked to Kylian and tried to smooth things over. It was almost time for lunch, and they went to the cafeteria to eat.
âKabir, do we have shareholderâonly dishes today?â Zayla asked.
âYes.â
Stephen smiled and gave Kabir a look.
Kabir understood it and handed the menu to Zayla.
King salmon? Australian lobster?
These shareholders had made a lot of money. They attended the monthly shareholder meeting just to go through the motions, but they didnât forget to get themselves so much good stuff for lunch.
They were so good at taking advantage of the company!
âStephen, Iâve got a suggestion. From now on, the shareholdersâ lunch will not be worth more than the employeesâ. The money saved will be donated to welfare institutes in the name of the board of directors to gain some good reputation for them.â
These bastards probably never had any good reputation.
Stephen held back his laughter. âIâve no problem with it. Itâs a very good suggestion.â
âGreat! The shareholders are all kind gentlemen. I believe they will definitely agree to it as well!â
At this point, even though the shareholders hated this suggestion, they couldnât say no.
Moreover, Stephen was the CEO of the Vargas Group after all. He had already agreed to it!
âIâm glad that Zayla is such a kind girl.â
A shareholder expressed agreement. The other ones naturally agreed to it as well.
Zayla smiled charmingly. âMr. Lucero, this is the right side to take. What do you think?â
Kylian was so angry that his face was livid and then pale. He snorted and left the conference room.
âTake care, Mr. Lucero. See you next month.â
The other shareholders left one after another, leaving Stephen and his sister in the large conference room.
âYou really pissed Kylian off.â Stephen thought about what happened just now and felt like laughing.
âEvery time they come, they would spend as much money as a whole department. What an unnecessary waste of money. We should try to avoid it.â But Stephen was the head of the company, so he didnât have time for such trivial matters.
âEverything you say and do is right.â
âExcept when I decided to marry Simon,â Zayla answered.
Stephen smiled. He was busy with meetings and obviously did not know that she and Simon had divorced.
âNo matter what your decision is, I will always support you.â
âThen you have to continue to support me.â As she spoke, Zayla held Stephenâs hand and placed the divorce papers in his hand.
Stephen opened it and looked at it with a beaming smile. âGood. When are you going to Mist Mountain to see our parents? Iâll make time to go with you.â
âAfter University of Houstonâs graduation ceremony.â
Stephen paused. Looking at Zaylaâs sparkling eyes, he seemed to understand why.
âAnything you say.â He would never say no to his sister.
Zayla was touched. It was true that only the family was the most precious one.
âStephen, just now, Kylian told you not to take the wrong side. What does he mean? What happened?â
