Continuation
"Hi, baby girl," one man waved at Khushi. She looked at that man.
She went running and hugged him tightly. "Dad, how are you? You know, I missed you so much," she said, crying.
"How are you, baby girl?"
"Dad, I am not fine. All are hating me, dad..no one loves me, dad."
Suddenly, he started laughing. She looked at him with confusion, but she ignored it.
"Dad, where were you for so many years? I was missing you badly," she said, still hugging her dad. Suddenly, he pushed her away from him. She stumbled and fell to the ground.
She looked at him with her teary eyes.
"You killed me, Khushi....you killed me that night...you are the reason behind my death... I hate you, Khushi. I hate you!" He shouted, pointing at her.
"Plea-please dad, do-don't say li-like that" she pleaded between her sobs.
"Because of you, I died that night... you are the reason for my death." He started crying, but anger was also evident on his face.
Khushi ran towards him to wipe his tears, but he jerked away her hand, and said, "Don't touch me! Go away from me!" He pushed her again, saying, "I hate you, Khushi."
"Da-dad, please-"
"By killing me, you are living a happy life here. You don't have the right to live in this world," he said, looking at her.
"Dad, I-I am so-sorry" she started going toward him, making him step back.
"You killed me, Khushi....you don't have the right to live...I hate you.. I hate you," he started going back and suddenly disappeared in the darkness.
"Daadddd!" She woke up with a jerk. She was panting heavily. Her head was covered with sweat beads, and her heart was beating wildly.
You killed me.
You are the reason for my death.
You don't have the right to live in this world.
I hate you..I hate you.
She is a bad omen.
She killed my dad.
All these words were ringing in her ears. She closed her ears to stop all this, but it was getting louder by the passing seconds.
"I am a murderer. I don't have the right to live ...All hate me ...dad hates me," she got up, mumbling those words.
She started searching for something like a madwoman, but she didn't find anything. Suddenly, her gaze fell on a glass vase. She ran toward it and threw it on the floor. It broke into small pieces.
'You don't have the right to live...I hate you...you are a murderer' This was continuously ringing in her ears.
That horrible night was also dancing in front of her eyes. Her eyes were burning with tears.
With a trembling hand, she took one piece of glass, sat beside the bed and placed it on her wrist. Her hands were shaking with fear.
"I-I don't ha-have the right to live," she said, closing her eyes and letting down her tears. "I-I am co-coming to you, da-dad. Please do-don't hate me....I am-am coming to you," she said with her shaky voice and pressed it on her wrist. She was shaking like a leaf. She didn't know what a horrible thing she was doing. Sweat and tears were trickling down her face to her neck.
She was about to cut her wrist when the room door burst open, which made her flinch, and the glass piece dropped from her hand.
Shourya, who was coming by while taking a glass of juice, heard the sound of something cracking. Only one person came to mind, and that was Khushi. He ran towards his room and burst the door open. The sight in front of him made him feel as if the ground slipped under his feet, and his heart dropped into his stomach seeing Khushi attempt to do something stupid like that.
"Khushii!"He dropped the juice glass and ran towards Khushi.
Looking at him, she started searching for that glass piece, but not before she took that piece. Shourya threw that away from her.
"What are you doing, Khushi?" He grabbed her arms. His heart was clutched in fear, thinking something was happening to her.
"Gi-give it back...I want to die. I-I don't ha-have the right to live....dad-dad hates me....I wa-want to go to da-dad," she tried to free herself from his hold and started looking here and there for that piece of glass, but his hold was tight.
"Khushi, come to your senses," he said, shaking her as if she were sleeping and he was trying to wake her up.
"Da-dad hates me....I-I want to go to hi-him..pl-please give it-it back," she pleaded, fisting his t-shirt on his chest.
Immediately, he hugged her tight. "Shh, baby, calm down. No one hates you. Your dad loves you," he said, rubbing her back and placing a kiss on her head. She was sobbing, making his t-shirt wet with her tears, but he didn't give a damn about it.
"No....he sa-said he hates me..I-I am the rea-reason for his-his dea-death," she said between her cries.
His heart ached to see her like that. He never saw her this helpless.
"Khushi, baby, believe me. Your dad loves you very much," he said, breaking the hug, cupping her face, and wiping her tears with his thumbs. "Calm down. Don't cry, baby. Your dad will never be happy to see you crying like this."
"Bu-but he sai-said he ha-hates me." She said between her cries, looking at Shourya.
"No, he doesn't hate you ..he is lying.. do you love him?" He asked her as if he were asking this to a small kid. One thing he knew was that Khushi loves her dad unconditionally.
Khushi nodded her head immediately.
"See, if you love him so much, then why will he hate you?" He asked, looking into her teary eyes.
"Bu-but I am the rea-reason for hi-his death," she said with a hurtful face. Her heart was bleeding thinking about that horrible night.
He didn't know anything about her dad or the reason behind his death, but he still tried to calm her.
"No..you are no-not." He was not sure of his reply, but right now he wanted to calm her.
"Ye-yes, I-i am...he-he said he-he ha-hates me," her cries became louder, and she started breathing heavily. Shourya's mind went blank. He didn't know how to calm her or whom to ask for help. Jenny was also not there because her daughter Valency fell ill, so she left early.
What bad luck!
"I-i wa-want to di-die. Mo-mom, da-dad...di-divi hates me," she said between her cries. "I-I don't want to li-live."
"Khushi, please calm down. No one hates you, baby. Calm down," he said, hugging her.
After a few minutes, her cries stopped, and there was no movement from her. Shourya broke the hug to look at her. Her eyes were closed. He checked her breathing. It was normal. He sighed in relief, then he carried her up and placed her in his bed.
His gaze fell on her wrist. There was a small cut, but it was not so deep. He wiped her blood with cotton, bandage it, and then called the doctor.
He sat beside her 'what happened to you, Khushi..why are you behaving like this?'
He was worried for her. He never saw her behaving like that, though he is a cruel and stone-hearted person, and he always wanted to hurt her, but still a small part of him cares for her.
He shouldn't give a damn about her, because according to him, she is nothing to him, but still, his heart was telling him not to leave her like that.
After some time, the doctor came. Shourya told her everything. How Khushi tried to harm herself and how she acted. The doctor removed the bandage from Khushi's wrist, checked her wrist, applied ointment on it and bandage it correctly.
"She will be fine. I gave her an injection. She needs sleep to calm her mind. She will get up after four to five hours. Try to divert her mind whenever she behaves like that, and please don't leave her alone. Try to talk with her. Don't make her feel that she is alone. Try to keep her happy. Specially at night, don't leave her alone because she can have nightmares or flashbacks of the incident she may have witnessed and she may try to harm herself again. Here are some medicines. Give them to her on time," the doctor said, and he gave medicines to Shourya. "If she still didn't feel good, then you can call me or visit me in my clinic."
Shourya nodded. "Thanks doctor."
Shourya sat beside Khushi and started stroking her silky hair.
Nothing will happen to you, Khushi.
His phone buzzed with an unknown number, so he declined the call, but it again started ringing.
"Hello,"
"Hello, Shourya, it's me, Nitya. Khushi's friend"
"Hey, Nitya,"
"Sorry to disturb you. Actually, I called Khushi so many times, but she didn't receive my call. I was worried about her. Is she fine?" Worry was evident in her voice.
Shourya looked at Khushi, who was sleeping.
He took a deep breath. "Yes, Nitya. She was a little sad, but now she is fine. She is sleeping now," he lied. He didn't want them to worry.
"Thank god. I was so worried about her. Please take care of her," Nitya said.
"Ya, sure."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye," he cut the call.
Shourya didn't even leave her for one second.
After five hours, Khushi tried to open her eyes. She rubbed her eyes. Looking at Khushi, Shourya sighed in relief.
"Khushi, how are you feeling now?" He asked with concern.
"I am-am fine," she said without looking at him. Her eyes were swollen because of the continuous crying.
"If you want, then you can rest for some time," he said, looking at her.
She shook her head. "I am fine. I want to change," she tried to get up to go to her room.
"Wait, I am also coming." He said. She looked at him with a questionable look.
He was afraid to leave her alone.
What if she tried to do something to herself again?
"Come, let's go," he said, holding her hand.
"I said, I am going to change my clothes, Shourya," she said, putting more pressure on the word clothes.
"Yes, I heard," he said, rolling his eyes. "Don't worry, I will not look at you. I will just sit there."
She didn't have the energy to argue with him, so she ignored him and started going to her room.
She took out her clothes from the cupboard. Shourya sat on the bed. Khushi started going to the bathroom to change.
"Don't lock the bathroom door," he said, looking at Khushi. She was looking at him with confusion.
"I promise, I will not come in, but please don't lock the door." He pleaded.
She just ignored him and went inside, but she didn't lock the door.
After changing, she came out wearing her loose top and long pants.
Seeing Khushi coming out of the bathroom, Shourya got up.
"Come, let's eat something."
"I am not hungry." She said and sat on the bed. Her face was void of any emotions. Her eyes were empty, and her voice contained sadness.
Shourya was trying to keep her busy with talking. He was trying to divert her mind, but it was not working.
"You didn't eat anything, Khushi. Let's eat something," he said, looking at her. Shourya's stomach growled. He also didn't eat anything. He was busy looking after Khushi, and now he was also hungry.
Khushi looked at him, hearing the sound of his stomach. 'Maybe he has not eaten anything'
"You eat something. You must be hungry," she said. Even she was hungry, but she didn't have an appetite to eat anything.
" Jenny is not there to cook," he said. "An-and I do-don't know how to coo-cook," he said, rubbing the back of his neck.
Khushi looked at him for a few seconds and then got up.
"Come," she said, and started going. Shourya followed her.
She didn't want to eat, but that didn't mean she would keep him hungry.
Shourya's POV
We entered the kitchen. "What do you want to eat?" She asked me with a plain tone. There were no emotions on her face.
"Pasta with white sauce, but I will make it," I said, taking out the utensil. "Your wrist will hurt," I said, pointing at her wrist. She looked at her wrist, and tears gathered in her eyes, and guilt was also evident in her eyes.
Maybe she was feeling guilty for doing it for herself.
I went near her and wiped her tears. "Come, sit here." I made her sit on the stool. "You sit here and guide me on how to cook pasta," she nodded.
I wore an apron and started doing as she says.
When I was cooking, I felt her gaze on me, but when I looked at her, she was averting her gaze.
I smirk mentally.
After half an hour, my pasta was ready. "Done," I said, wiping my hands.
She got up to leave. "Hey, Khushi, where are you going?" I stopped her.
"In my room."
"Hey, for the first time in my life, I cooked something. Will you not eat?"
Yes, I have never cooked anything in my life. Only one thing I know to make, and that is coffee.
It's not about my cooking, but I want her to eat something because she hasn't had anything since morning.
"I am not hungry. You eat that. I know it will taste good," she said and turned to go.
"Hey, that's not fair...ok then, let it be. I also don't have an appetite to eat alone," I said with disappointment and closed the utensil. I know she will agree to eat if I apply this trick to her. My hungry stomach growled, reminding me of its presence.
Khushi looked at me for a few seconds, then sat on the stool.
"You will eat, right?" I asked her happily.
Why am I feeling happy now?
She nodded.
I put pasta on two plates and passed one to her, and I took a seat beside her.
She put one spoon of pasta in her mouth and then stopped.
I knew, I am a worst cook. I should have not coo-
"It's yummy"
"What, seriously?" I immediately put a spoonful of pasta in my mouth and was surprised. It was more than yummy. "Seriously, Khushi, I can't believe that I made this Pasta. All thanks to you! " I said with excitement. It really feels good when, for the first time, you cook something and someone praises your cooking.
"You know, Khushi, if you give me cooking classes every day, then one day I will become a famous chef 'Chef. Shourya Kapoor," I joked, and she laughed. Her laugh was like music to my ears.
I didn't know I was staring at her until I heard her throat clear. She stopped laughing and started eating her pasta.
"You know, you look more beautiful when you laugh," I don't know why, but it slipped out of my mouth.
She gave me a small smile.
"I am done." She got up. "Thanks for the pasta."
I nodded my head. I was also done, so I took her plate to wash.
"It's ok, I will wash it." She said, trying to pull it back.
"No, your wrist will hurt," I said and went to wash it.
She went upstairs. I washed the two plates and went to my room, but Khushi was not there. I ran toward her room. After looking at her on the balcony, I sighed in relief.
I went and stood beside her. There were tears rolling down her cheeks.
Maybe she is still thinking about Divya's words.
"If you want to share something, then you can share it with me," I said, looking at her, thinking that she would share something about her dad. She didn't look at me. Her gaze was fixed on the sky.
"You know, Shourya, that words are a powerful weapon. They can break your soul. You know, my da-dad.." Her voice broke. She stopped for a few seconds, took a deep breath, and continued. "Dad used to say, never hurt someone with your words because words directly attack your heart, so it's become difficult to forget those words." I was just looking at her. She was blinking back her tears, but they were still flowing from her eyes.
I know she is talking about Divya.
I also hurt her with my words.....is she talking about me also?
Guilt rushed through me.
She wiped her tears and turned to go inside her room.
"Khushi, from today onwards you will sleep with me." I said.
She furrowed her brows, looking at me.
"I mean to say, you will sleep in my room," I corrected my sentence.
I can't take the risk. What if she tried to harm herself again? The doctor also said not to leave her alone at night.
"Don't worry. I am fine in my room," she said and started going inside.
"I said you would sleep in my room, and that's final." I said it in a stern tone.
She looked at me. "Don't pity me, Shourya. I don't want your pity." She said it with a sad smile.
Khushi, I don't pity you, but what if you try to harm yourself again?
"Shourya Kapoor doesn't pity anyone, Khushi," I said. "You will sleep in my room, and that's final. I don't want you to argue on this."
"Ok, only in one condition."
I furrowed. "And what's that?" I asked her, raising my eyebrows.
"You will sleep on a couch," she said.
Couch??? No way...
"Hey, I am not comfortable sleeping on the couch."
"Ok, you sleep in your room. I will sleep in my room. Now, please leave. I want to sleep," she said, lying on her bed.
"Get up. You will sleep in my room. Get up," I said.
"Shourya, please, I am not in a mood to argue with you, so please leave me alone," she said in a tired tone.
That's what I can't do it, Khushi. Leaving you alone is a big risk.
"Ok," I said, and scooped her into my arms.
"Are you crazy? Put me down!" She started wiggling out of my hold.
I opened my bedroom door with my foot and put her on my bed.
"Are you mad, Shourya? I want to go to my room," she yelled, glaring at me.
"I said, you will sleep here means you will sleep here. Don't worry, I will make your so-called pillow border," I said and kept the pillows in the middle.
"Don't you dare come on my side," she warned me.
I rolled my eyes at her and slept on my side.
I just hope she sleeps well.
