Khushi's POV
I got up when my alarm went off and did my morning routine. I was having a light headache, and I was not feeling well enough to go to the office today, but I still dressed up. I wore my long white shrug with jeans to go to the office.
When I went downstairs, Shourya was already dressed, wearing his white shirt with blazer and grey pants, and scrolling on his phone. Maybe he was waiting for me to have breakfast.
Hearing the sounds of my heels, he looked up.
"Good morning, Khushi," he said.
I just nodded my head and sat down to have my coffee.
"Khushi, have this." Jenny brought a plate of sandwiches and kept it in front of me.
"Jenny, I don't want this. Please take it back. I will only have my coffee," I said, giving that plate back to her.
"Khushi, have those sandwiches. Otherwise, you will be hungry,"Â Shourya interrupted. I just ignored him and started drinking my coffee.
After having my coffee, I got up.
"Khushi, if you don't want to come to the office today, then you can take a holiday today," Shourya said.
I closed my eyes to control my anger and then looked at him. "If I take a holiday, then your work will remain pending." I mocked him and started going.
I will give you the same pain you have given me, Mr. Shourya Kapoor. I will make you realise how much you hurt me...
"Khushi, come with me."
Since the day we returned from my house, he has been asking me to come with him in his car to the office, but I didn't go with him because if any employees see me coming daily with him, then they will doubt us.
I ignored him.
"Jenny, I am going. Bye," I said to Jenny, who was looking at us with disappointment.
She nodded. "Bye, take care, and have something in the canteen. Don't remain hungry," she said like a mother, and I nodded.
âªâªâªâªâª
I entered my cabin and started doing my work. Today I didn't meet Saira or Zanvil, because I wasn't in the mood to talk with anyone.
It's been three hours, since I tried to focus on my work, but my mind was not on it. Yesterday's incident was roaming in my head. By thinking all that, my headache was increasing by the passing of seconds.
I drank some water to calm myself and tried to focus on my work again.
I got disturbed by a phone call. Nitya's name was dancing on the screen.
I was not in a mood to talk with anyone, so I cut the call. Again, she started calling me.
"Hello, Nitya, I will call you later."
"Hell-hello, Khushi, aun-aunty is in the hospital." Hearing this, I froze at my place. Tears started forming in my eyes. I felt as if some big building had collapsed on me.
"Hello, Khushi..hello, Khushi," I heard her calling my name. I felt like I would get a panic attack anytime.
"Whi-which hos-hos-hospital?" I asked between my cries.
"Victor hospital. Khushi baby, Plea-please don't panic. She will be f-" I cut the call and ran from my cabin.
I heard someone calling me from behind, but I ignored them and started running as fast as I could. All the employees were looking at me.
Mom, please be okay. Please, mom...god please don't let anything happen to my mom. Please I am begging you.
Writer's POV
Shourya was coming to Khushi's cabin when he saw her running from her cabin, wiping her tears. Looking at her like that, he became worried.
What happened to her?
"Khushi! Khushi!" He called her from behind, but she didn't look back and started running faster. Shourya ran behind her. All the employees were looking at them and started gossiping with each other.
Rahul, who was at the reception, became confused and worried. He tried to call Shourya, but he ignored him.
Khushi was waiting for a cab and was crying like hell.
Where the hell did all the cabs disappear?
Shourya came running near her. He was panting heavily.
"Khushi, what happened? Why are you crying like this, and where are you going?" Worry and concern were on his face.
Khushi looked at him with a teary face. Tears were continuously running down her cheeks like rivers.
"Sho-shourya, mo-mo-mom is in-in the hos-hospital," she broke down and kneeled on the road.
Looking at her like that, Shourya's heart broke into pieces. He immediately made her stand up by holding her arms, and he wiped her tears with his both thumbs.
"Shh, don't cry. No-nothing will happen to your mom, ok?" He said it softly, as if he were telling that to a small kid. "Come, let's go to the hospital." He made her sit in his car and shut the door.
On the way she was praying to God to let her mom be okay. Shourya was looking at her with worry.
Shourya parked his car. Without waiting for Shourya, Khushi ran inside the hospital.
"Urv-Urvashi Rai-Raichandr," she asked the receptionist. Her words came out with difficulty.
The receptionist checked the details on the computer. "Room 105, which is on the second floor," the receptionist answered, looking at Khushi. Even she felt pity for Khushi.
Khushi muttered "thank you" and ran to meet her mom. Her eyes were longing to see her mom safe....to see her mom doing fine.
She saw Nitya and Divya sitting outside of the room. Nitya was consoling Divya, who was crying. Khushi slowly started going to them. Her heart was beating faster with fear by every passing second.
"Khushi," Nitya got up seeing her bestfriend. Divya's head shot up upon hearing Khushi's name.
"Divi," Khushi went near Divya.
Looking at Khushi, she got up and did the unbelievable thing. She gave Khushi tight slap on the face, which made Shourya, who had just reached there, gasp. Khushi was shocked.
Did her little sister just now slap her?
"Divi, what is -"
"What are you doing here, Mrs. Kapoor?" Divya yelled at Khushi. Khushi was looking at her with disbelief.
"Divi," her voice came out as a whisper.
"You should enjoy your luxuries in your mansion. Why did you come here? Is it to see whether mom is alive or not? This all happened because of you." She started blaming Khushi. Her eyes widened. How can her Divi, whom she loved the most, talk like this with her?
"Di-Divi, why are-are talking li-like this?" She doesn't know how to feel looking at her sister talking like this with her, but one thing she know is that, Divya literally broke her heart by talking like that. Shourya came and stood beside Khushi...
Divya's eyes were also red from crying, "First, you killed my dad. Now you are trying to kill my mom. You are the murderer of my dad, Khushi," she shouted, pointing at Khushi.
Khushi stumbled upon hearing this accusation her sister was putting on her, but Shourya caught her before she lost her balance. That horrible night, which she was slowly trying to forget, now started dancing in front of her eyes. Her eyes burned with tears.
Shourya was shocked to hear this.
Is it true? Did Khushi really kill her fath......no no..I don't think so. Why would she do something like that....but why is Divya accusing her sister, who loves her more than anyone else?...All these questions started coming to his mind.
"Divya, is it the way you talk to your Di?" Not being able to see her best friend getting accused like that, Nitya yelled at Divya. Nitya has always considered Khushi more as her own sister and Divya as her younger sister.
"I am ashamed to even call her my Di. I don't even know if the money she gave me for my studies are really of her hardwork or if she got it from trapping some guy." She said, making a disgusting face. She didn't know how much she was killing her sister with her bitter words. She didn't know how much her one word was stabbing Khushi's heart. Khushi looked at her with a teary face. There was pain, anger, guilt, sadness and sorrow on her face.
"Divya!" This time, Shourya shouted at her to stop her nonsense. The words Divya was using for her were ringing in Khushi's ears. She never thought that her sister, whom she loved the most and about whom she cared the most, would say something like that.
"Jiju (bro-in-law), you don't know her. She is a bad omen. She only knows how to destroy other's lives. First, she snatched my dad from us, and then she destroyed your life, and now my mom." She did not even know of what she was talking. She was not in her senses to think properly or to think before talking.
Not able to control her anger, Nitya slapped Divya. "Do you even know what you are talking about, your sister? Do you even know how much you are hurting your sister, Divya?" She shouted at her making her, flinch.
Divya broke down and started blubbering like a small child. Nitya hugged her. "Shh, don't cry. I am sorry," she said, caressing her back.
Shourya looked at Khushi, who was just standing there like a statue. There was a lack of any expression on her face.
Till then the doctor came, and Shourya rushed towards the doctor. "Doctor, how is Urvashi mom?"
"She is fine now. Please keep her away from the stress. It's not good for her health."
Shourya nodded.
"Can we meet her?"
"Yes, you can see her, but she is still asleep, so please don't disturb her sleep," the doctor said and left.
They all turned to go inside. Nitya and Divya went inside. Shourya looked behind to take Khushi, but she was nowhere to be seen.
Where did she go?
He started searching for her everywhere like a madman. Not being able to find her anywhere, he became panicked.
Khushi was aimlessly walking on the road. She was not in her right mind. After hearing that her mom was fine, she ran out of the hospital. She badly wanted to see her mom, but now they all hate her, and looking at Khushi will cause her pain.
The passing cars were blowing horns to make her aware and telling her to stay aside, but her ears were ringing with only Divya's words.
You killed my dad.
You are trying to kill my mom.
You are a murderer.
She is a bad omen. She only knows to how destroy other's lives.
I am ashamed to call her Di.
One truck was continuously blowing a horn to alert her. And before the truck could hit her, Shourya pulled her, which made her bump into his chest. He hugged her tight as if he got his life back.
He broke the hug and held Khushi's arms. "Are you mad? Do you even know if I didn't reach on time what would have happened?" He shouted, shaking her.
"I am a murderer...I killed my dad...I am a bad omen," she started mumbling continuously.
"Khushi," Shourya called her softly, but she was not even in her senses to listen to him. She pushed him. "Stay away. I am a bad omen..I am a murderer...Stay away from me," she was chanting it like a mantra.
Again he tried to calm her. "Khushi, no. Listen to me pl-"
"No, no ...sta-stay away ...I-I am a murder-murderer.... I am-am a bad omen...I am-"
"SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP!" Shourya shouted, grabbing her arms tightly. "You are not a bad omen, and you have not murdered anyone. Do you understand?" He raised his voice.
Khushi's sobs became louder, but she was still mumbling those words. Shourya's eyes softened, and he tightly hugged her.
"Khushi, baby, stop crying. You didn't do anything, ok? Now stop crying," he said softly, consoling her by caressing her back. He broke the hug and wiped her tears. "Let's go home..come." He took her near his car by holding her and made her sit, then closed the door.
In between, while driving, he was looking at Khushi. She was in her thoughts. Only Divya's words and that horrible night were roaming in her mind. How much will this poor soul bear?
There were also so many questions dancing in Shourya's mind. 'why did Divya accuse Khushi of killing her own dad...is it true? Did Khushi really kill her own dad? Why will she kill her dad? That day, when she was talking about her dad, there was happiness on her face. If it was showing how much she loved her dad, then why would she kill him? Still, a person who is afraid to even kill a small insect, how can she kill a human being?'
Feeling tired, Khushi fell asleep in the car. Looking at her sleeping form, Shourya sighed in relief.
After reaching home, he parked the car, got out of it, and went towards Khushi's side. She was in deep sleep, so he didn't wake her. He scooped her up in his arms in bridal style, went into his room, and placed her in his bed. He removed her shoes and covered her with a blanket, and he went to change his clothes.
After changing his clothes, he checked on Khushi. She was still sleeping, so he thought to bring something for her to drink so that after she got up he could give her something to drink. He gave a last glance at Khushi and closed the door.
And leaving Khushi alone in the room was his mistake.
