Shourya's POV
It's been five days since Khushi hasn't come to the office. Dad said she informed him that she would not come to the office as she had taken leave for fifteen days. I don't know why she wants fifteen days off.
For the past two months, I have been giving her lots of work, and to my surprise, she always completes the work on time. I don't know how. I think that girl has some magical powers.
Whenever I passed through her cabin, her cabin was always closed.
Why are you thinking about her, Shourya?
Ughhhh....concentrate on your work, Shourya.
"Hi, Shourya darling," Rahul came into my cabin and sat in front of me.
I rolled my eyes.
"Hi, Shourya darling... how are you?" He asked me in a seductive tone, like a girl.
Ewww, why is he talking like a girl now? Now he has come to eat my brain.
"Rahul, why are you talking like a girl?" I asked glaring at him
"Oh ho, Shourya darling, your cake- face doll is also talking like this," he said, playing with my pen.
Not now, Rahul.
"By the way, Shourya, why is Miss. Raichandr not coming to the office?" He changed the topic.
"I am not her PA, Rahul, to know why she is not coming to the office," I said, gritting my teeth.
Why is he asking me about her?
"Why are you hating her, Shourya? She is a really nice girl. For once, you should try to talk with her nicely. She is really the sweetest girl I have ever met.... I just love her company. I wish I could have a sister like her," he said with a smile.
Now what spell does she cast on him? As far as I know him, he is not the one to praise any girl. I think that girl is working some sort of magic on my people.
"Now what spell does that girl cast on you?" I raised my voice, and he flinched a little.
"Oh god, Shourya, you scared me," he said, rubbing his chest.
This drama queen.
"She is not casting any spell on us. She has a good heart, which your so-called girlfriend doesn't have. She is way better than that cake-face doll," he added, raising his voice.
Now my anger has reached a peak. "How dare you, Rahul, compare that trash with my Samaira?" I shouted at him.
How can he compare that scumbag to my Samaira?
That girl has now dragged my best friend to her side, and I also see from the last two months that both Rahul and Dad are spending more time with that cheap girl.
"If you knew her properly, you would never say these words about her," he said, massaging his temple. I know he is suppressing his anger, but why is he taking her side?
I know, maybe that girl is trying to seduce him by showing her fake innocence. I know girls like her are characterless. They can do anything for money.
My blood was boiling in anger.
"Are you falling for her?" I asked, balling my fist.
He shook his head and got up from his chair saying, "you will not understand," and left my cabin.
Sometimes I feel like slap that girl because of her every time there is a fight between me and Rahul. Rahul never used to fight with me like this before.
I really hate that cheap girl.
Khushi's POV
It's been five days since mom was discharged from the hospital. The doctor told us that she was weak, so we needed to give her proper care.
That day I called Mr. Kapoor and requested fifteen days leave; he said it was fine and asked me to take care of my mom.
Yesterday, Divya was asking me how I got so much money for the operation in such a short time. I told her only half-truth. I didn't tell them the wedding part, as I didn't want to make them sad.
I prepared breakfast for mom and went to her room. "Good morning, mom," I greeted her as I placed breakfast on a side table.
"Good morning, Khushi," she greeted me back with a smile.
"Mom, how are you feeling now?" I asked and sat beside her.
"I am fine, Khushi. Don't worry," she said, cupping my cheek with her hand.
When my phone started ringing, I glanced at the ID. ⤠Ritik â¤.
Since he got to know that Mom is not well, he has been calling me on alternate days. A smile came on my face.
"Hello"
"Hello, cutie pie, how are you, and how are Aunty and Divi?"
"We are all fine. How are you?" I just love to talk with him.
"I am fine, cutie pie," then he continued. "Take care of Aunty."
"Yes, boss, I am taking good care of your aunty," I chuckled.
"I know that, my cutie pie," Cutie pie, That's the name he gave me when I was six years old and he was nine years old.
Flashback
Uncle Patel came to our house with his nine-year-old son to talk with my dad.
"Hello, uncle," I said hello to him and glanced at his son, as we had never met before. That was the first time I saw his son.
"Hi Khushi, how are you?" Uncle Patel asked me with a wide smile.
"I am fine, uncle," I said, giving him a smile.
"Khushi, meet my son Ritik," he said, putting his hand on Ritik's shoulder, "and Ritik, this is Khushi, uncle Nilesh's daughter," he said, pointing at me.
"Hi, Ritik," I said as I extended my hand for a handshake.
"Hi, Khushi," he said as he shook my hand and smiled at me.
Then Dad came and gave a brotherly hug to Patel's uncle.
"Khushi, why don't you and Ritik go and play in the garden?" dad said, and we both ran outside to play.
While playing, I asked Ritik, "Ritik, are you also going to school like me?" He nodded his head and said, "yes, Khushi, I am in the fourth grade."
"Ohhh... I am in the first grade," I said, making a sad pout, and he laughed.
"Don't worry, Khushi. You will also reach the fourth grade soon. I am bigger than you. That's why I am in the fourth grade, and you are smaller than me," he chuckled.
"Till then, you will reach some other grade," I innocently said, looking at him.
He smiled.
"Khushi, you know you are very cute. Uncle and aunty should have named you Cute instead of Khushi," he said, pulling my cheeks.
"No, no, my name is Khushi. You know, my mom says Khushi means happiness, so that means I am happiness, not cute," I said, grinning.
"Yes, but I will call you "cutie pie" because you are cute." He again pulled my cheeks. I slapped his hands. "Don't pull my cheeks, Ritik. It hurts!" I cried loudly.
"Ohh sorry, cutie pie, please forgive your brother," he said, holding his ears.
"You are not my brother!" I cried louder. "I don't have a brother. I have only one sister, and that is my Divi."
Mom came running after hearing my cries.
"What happened, Khushi? Why are you crying?" She wiped my tears.
"Mo-mom, Ritik is pu-lling my cheeks" I complained to my mom. "He also says that he is my bro-brother. Mom, ho-how can he be m-my bro-brother. He is-is Patel un-uncle's son," I cried between my sobs.
Ritik was also verge of crying.
She wiped my tears and said, "Khushi, a brother or sister is not always about blood. Sometimes this special relationship requires only the heart; we need to accept them with our hearts," she said as sat beside me.
"That means I can become his sister, and he can become my brother?" I asked my mom innocently, pointing towards Ritik. Mom smiled at Ritik and me and nodded her head, "yes, Khushi."
My face lit up like a bulb, and I hugged Ritik."You can call me your sister, and I will call you my brother." He wiped his tears away and hugged me back.
"No! I will not call you a sister. I will call you a cutie pie, but you will always be my sister." He chuckled, and my mom and I laughed.
Since then, he has been very protective toward me. Whenever any boy tried to tease me, he used to fight with them.
Flashback ends
"Hello, Cutie Pie....hello." His voice brought me back to reality.
"Hello, Ritik, yeah, I am listening."
"You were not listening. I was calling your name for the past two minutes, and there was no sound from you. What were you dreaming?" He chuckled.
"Nothing, Ritik. Some childhood memories with you," I said in a sad tone.
I miss him a lot.
"I am missing you too, my Cutie Pie, but I will meet you soon." Sadness was evident in his voice.
"I miss you too." A long tear escaped from my eyes.
"Cutie pie, I need to go now. Bye, take care of aunty and Divi, and also take care of yourself, bye." He said it hurriedly. Maybe he is busy with his work.
"Bye, Ritik, take care, miss you" I hung up.
The bond between brother and sister is not always related to blood and flesh. Sometimes, it's connected with souls.
