Lillianâs face darkened when seeing Zoeâs case. Her hands couldnât stop trembling.
âStephen, is there no other way?â She looked at Stephen, who was sitting opposite to her and asked full of concern.
Stephen shook his head without saying anything. There was nothing he could do.
âLillian, I have told you that Zoe must find a matched heart, otherwise, there is nothing I can do.â Stephen directly told her the truth.
Lillian shrugged the shoulder feebly. Of course, she knew a matched heart would save Zoeâs life. However, it was difficult to find and Zoe inherited her sisterâs blood type with rh negative blood, which made it almost impossible to find her a matched heart.
âI can only tell you her treatment couldnât last longer because she is almost incurable now.â Stephen said slowly. He had already tried his best. If it were not his request, the hospital would give up treating Zoe.
Lillian knew what he meant. She lowered her eyes in a trance and didnât dare imagine what would happen to Zoe.
Suddenly, she reminded of something and looked at Stephen, âStephen, do you know doctor Asa from the U.S.? Is he the authority and expert in handling with this kind of disease? What about inviting him to treat Zoe?â
Stephen frowned when hearing this and replied, âIndeed, he is an expert in this area. However, I think he can only extend Zoeâs life by a few months if we canât find a matched heart.â
Lillian took a deep breath. She knew it was the best to find a heart. However, it was good if Zoeâs life could be extended. She wouldnât give up any chance to let her survive.
Archibald had told her that he could contact with doctor Asa. Now it seemed that she had to look for him again. She tried to cut off their connection, however, the destiny put them together again and again.
Never mind. It was for Zoe and she should stop worrying their relationship.
Seeing Lillianâs worried look, Stephen comforted her gently, âLillian, donât give yourself too much pressure. Donât forget about your own situation.â
âI know. Thank you, Stephen.â She sincerely felt grateful to him. Stephen really helped her a lot after they getting acquaint.
âLillian, I donât want to hear these words.â Stephen showed an angry expression.
Lillian knew he was pretending. She turned around her head and smiled, âWell, I have to look after Zoe now. I will never forget your help.â
Stephen was in a trance when seeing Lillianâs figure. He didnât want her to thank him for helping her.
Before getting to the ward, Lillian tried to show a smile to make her look not so pale.
Zoe was playing the pirate ship Archibald sent her. Her eyes brightened when seeing Lillian came, âMommy!â
Lillian sat beside her and her eyes darkened when seeing the model of the pirate ship. She had promised Zoe that she would take her to the playground, however...
âMommy, whatâs wrong with you?â Noticing Lillianâs expression, Zoe asked worriedly.
Lillian went back to mind and hurriedly made a smile, âNothing.â Then she raised her hand to touch Zoeâs hair.
âMommy, when can you take me to take pirate ship?â Zoe was desperate about going to the playground and didnât want to hear childrenâs stories these days, only kept looking at the pirate ship model.
Zoe was a sensitive child and knew what was happening to her body even Lillian didnât tell her. She was afraid that she would never get a chance to take the pirate ship because she frequently got sick these days.
âI will take you there, just one more treatment, okay?â Lillian found it difficult to say these words. She hated herself for making promise to Zoe.
However, there was nothing she could do.
âWe can take uncle Archibald here.â
âYes.â
âWell, and uncle Stephen.â
âItâs all up to you.â
âMommy, why doesnât uncle Archibald come these days?â
âHe, he is busy recently and he will visit you as long as he has spare time.â
âCan you tell him that I miss him so much and let him visit me if he is free?â Zoe looked at her mommy in expectation.
Lillian didnât expect that Zoe was fond of Archibald. What had he done to her? She didnât want to refuse Zoeâs every request and could only nod to say yes.
âMommy, can you call him now?â Zoe picked up the phone and put it in her hands.
âNow?â Lillian frowned out of surprise.
Zoe kept nodding, âYes, I want to invite him by myself, canât I?â
Lillian couldnât refuse and smiled, âYes, yes.â She really couldnât figure out why Zoe was so fond of Archibald.
After opening the dialogue, she felt unnatural when seeing Archibaldâs nickname. Zoe was waiting beside her and she could only try to calm down and dial this number.
âLillian.â She could feel Archibaldâs delight when receiving this call.
She felt his voice was so charming when hearing the familiar deep and heavy sound. Why didnât she have this feeling in the past? She tried to calm down and couldnât let him affect her mood!
âWell, Zoe is looking for you.â Lillian didnât dare hearings his other words and directly gave the phone to Zoe when she turned around to peel the apple.
Zoe was talking happily with Archibald. Lillian kept reminding herself to stop listening. However, she couldnât control overhearing.
When hearing Zoe was inviting Archibald to come, Lillian found she cared so much about his answer.
âReally? Great, then I will be here to wait for you!â Zoe laughed happily and it seemed that Archibald would come.
Lillian took a relief and was also glad.
Lillian, what was wrong with you? Archibald was coming for Zoe, not you.
When Lillian was blaming herself, Zoe gave her the phone, âMommy, uncle Archibald wants to talk to you.â
Lillian almost cut herself and said coldly, âWe donât have anything to say.â However, she hurriedly put down the apple and knife, wept her hands with the napkin and handed over the phone.
She walked beside the window and found her heart was pounding quickly. She tried to calm down and asked coldly, âWhatâs up?â
âLillian, donât you have anything to talk with me?â Archibaldâs voice came. Lillian could imagine he was curling up his lip with a smile, handsome but annoying.
