I woke up in the living room, hearing familiar voices and a discussion, which made my headache stronger.
I immediately remembered what had happened before I lost the ground under my feet and I automatically got up because I was scared for Hope.
â Shhh, Hope is in Lunaâs room and sleeping soundlyâ. Jane tried to calm me down.
âI was waiting for you to wake up to tell you not to worry and now Iâm going to her right away and you rest, everything will be fine.â
Why did I have a stupid feeling that she was wrong, because of all that yelling from the kitchen I knew nothing good would come of it.
âDamn it, Arden, how could you even think to say such a thing to her, to anyone, let alone your Mateâ, I never heard Alpha Mason talk like that to anyone.
"Sheâs not my Mate !â, Arden hissed.
I saw Mason look at him with disbelief.
â Such pathetic thinking, Alpha Vulcan, especially when the Goddess gives us a unique chance to find our soulmate, and I donât think you young people can judge Emma because you know nothing about her.
" If you donât want to give her a chance you donât have to, sheâs survived without you so far so she can again, âLuna Sara said firmly.
Ardenâs face stiffened as he spoke with disgust; âomega with a baby as my Luna, itâs incredible,â he shook his head.
âIs there an omega treated differently in yourâs pack than here, because here, my friend, they all have a chance to prove themselves and hope their Mate and what they do, and they are paid for it,â Alpha Mason confirmed.
âYou know that things are the same as here Mason, âAlfa Arden said angrily. â
But you also know that Iâm known as the bloodiest Alpha, whoâs leading the biggest and strongest Pack, in the country,â he said coldly.
" Man, I donât know what happened to you, but considering the circumstances, itâs best to keep our meetings to a minimum, since we are allies and friends, because I consider you my friend, and it will remain so, regardless of Emma and you â, Alpha Mason said, being unable to hide the disappointment in his voice.
âBecause of Omega?â, Ardenâs face stiffened.
Mason took a deep breath and hugged Sarah.
"Sara was an omega when I finally found her and saved her from the cruel Alpha and although it doesnât matter that we donât have our children, we consider Emma more than our own."
âI think itâs time to go back to your pack Arden, weâll stay in touch,â Masonâs face was cold now.
Ardenâs face was emotionless when he spoke in a deep voice.
âOkay, but omega and baby are coming with me.â
And so hell broke loose...
âItâs out of the question!â, Luna Sara shouted and she headed for the Arden, but Alfa Mason stopped her quickly, looking at the Alpha Arden with interrogator-threatening eyes.
Arden didnât even blink when he hissed threateningly.
â Regardless of our friendship Mason, if youâre against me, Iâll wipe you and your entire pack off the face of the earth!â
Mason ran into him, and the betas and gamma around them grew tense, so Emma hurried into the kitchen.
âIâll go with you, just donât hurt anyone, please,â she looked at Arden pleading with him and shivering.
A contented smile flickered, in the corner of his lips.
âSon of a bitch,â she thought, trying to keep her emotions from breaking. Sara and Mason looked at her, pleadingly but Emma just nodded, letting them know she was okay with the decision she had made.
He approached her and tilted his head towards her, looking at her with his piercing eyes, that she had to look down.
He lifted her chin with his pointing, forcing her to look at him, which was frightening to Emma, ââgiven his height and strong appearance.
âGo get your baby, omega, you have five minutes,â he whispered threateningly.
When he let her go, she headed for the stairs without a word, not looking at anyone, She didnât want to be seen as broken, nor did she want to be broken.
Jane was standing in the doorway crying when Emma just walked calmly past her and picked up the blanket for Hope, wrapping her tightly while she still slept peacefully.
âDonât worry, my sunshine, Mommy will protect you,â she whispered, while she was kissing her gently on the forehead.
Arden waited at the door as she stared past Sarah and Mason, not wanting to look at them, because of the pain that gripped her, nor could she bear the tears in Lunaâs eyes that must have been strong for the whole pack, though Emma didnât care what would happen to her, Hope was a different story and she had to survive.
Beta stood in front of the black SUV, kindly opening the door for her to settle in, while Arden quickly sat down in the passenger seat, looking at her in the rearview mirror.
Without a word, Beta started the car and Emma just hugged Hope tightly, praying to the Goddess that history would not repeat itself.
The night lasted too long as Emma struggled not to be overwhelmed by fatigue and feelings, and to fall asleep.
The ride had been going on for a long time and was not at all comfortable for her, Hope fidgeted in her arms now and then, so she was calming her down, constantly so she wouldnât wake up.
But still, she couldnât fight the fatigue and the dream finally overcame her .... she heard a voice, a deep masculine voice, and she felt strong hands who take and carry her, together with her daughter in her arms...
She woke up still in her clothes, in an unfamiliar room on a big bed, and she immediately panicked ...âHope!!!â
