Chapter 77
Over at the Lagersfield City Hospital, Julia brought her family to the VIP ward. At the door of the ward, they were stopped by two men in black suits.
âWho are you?â one of the men asked coldly.
Julia frowned in displeasure. âWhat is this? Iâve never been questioned when Iâm just here to visit a patient.
The bodyguard just stared at her impassively. âNo one is allowed to enter without Mr. Laurierâs permission.â
Julia was furious. Loid again! Lily had only just moved into Anmer Heightes for a few days, and she already had Loid wrapped around her little finger. He had even sent bodyguards to protect Belinda!
This was infuriating!
âLook, lad, just let us in. The patient is one of our relatives. Weâre just here to visit him. Loid is my grandsonâinâlaw. Iâll talk to him later,â Julia said without showing her displeasure.
âNo.â The bodyguardâs tone was as cold as ever. His expression didnât even change.
Julia narrowed her eyes. She pulled out a wad of cash from her wallet and gave it to the bodyguard. âWeâll just go in for a few minutes. You can just turn the other way. Iâm sure Loid wonât reprimand you.â
The bodyguard pushed Julia away. Stumbling a little, she almost fell to the ground, saved only by Susanâs quick reflexes.
The bodyguardâs expression did not even change. âLeave now, before I throw you out.â
Hearing this, Susan got angry. She snapped, âWatch your mouth! Listen here. Iâm Lily Brooksâ mother. If you make me angry, Iâll tell her to fire all of you!â
The bodyguard ignored her.
âYou!â Furious, Susan jabbed her finger at the bodyguard. She wanted to curse him out, but she still had a reputation to uphold, so her words were stuck in her throat.
Julia pulled Susan away. âThatâs enough. Theyâre clearly not going to let us in,â said Julia.
âSo weâre just going to leave?â Susan asked unwillingly.
Sheâd spent the last few years enjoying a life of luxury, but ever since Lily appeared in her life, her image as an elegant upperâclass lady seemed to disintegrate before her eyes.
Even now, bodyguards were treating her like a nobody. She didnât want to leave. At the very least, she wanted to teach the bodyguards a lesson for disrespecting her.
âLeave?â Julia snorted coldly. âHave you forgotten why weâre here today?â
Susanâs expression twisted. âBut we canât go in!â
âAre you dumb?â Julia was really starting to dislike Susan. If it were not for Shannon, she wouldâve kicked her out of the Martinez family years ago. âThere are other ways to get into that ward. Youâre still Belindaâs exâdaughterâinâlaw and Lilyâs mother. She wonât refuse a visit from you.â
Susan understood what she needed to do at once.
She went closer to the door. âMom, Iâm here to see you Iâm sorry for what I did in the past. Iâm here to apologize. Please let me in!â
