Chapter 52
âItâsâ¦â Lily pursed her lips. âIâve never seen it before either.â
Shaun was speechless. He had never been astounded by anyone but Loid, Lily was the second person to accomplish that.
Jufter being silent for a long while, Loid tapped her head twice. âThere are two people in need of treatment. Iâll personally pay for one of them. If you save him, Iâll give you ten
billion dollars.â
Loid had plenty of money. If Lily needed money, he would give it to her.
However, after spending so much time with Lily, Loid noticed that she was quite proud
She wouldnât accept things from others for nothing. Even if he offered her 70 billion dollars, she would decline. He might as well give her work to do.
Lilyâs eyes lit up, and she immediately sat up straight. âNo problem.â
The glint in her eyes did not escape Loldâs notice. He smiled. âThe other person is in Bridgeport. The rate might not be as high. Iâll try to get it to rivebillion dollars for you.â
After a pause, Loid added, âHeâs been paralyzed for over a decade. Be prepared.â
Once Lily heard that she had work to do, she became spirited. Resting her chin on her palm, she pondered before asking, âIf I successfully heal him, will I get more?
Loid raised his brow. âHeâll have to give you more for my sake.
He had underestimated Lily. She was quite confident in her medical sids.
âAlright then. Iâll take it.â
Loid glanced at Lily, his smile widening. âThereâs another way to earn money that you may consider.â
Lily looked up at him, signaling him to continue.
âI heard that you disabled the Dalton familyâs scionâs leg?â Loid lit a cigarette and leaned against the seat. His posture was rather languid.
âYes.â Lilyâs response was matterâofâfact
âYou could choose to heal his leg 1 The Dalton family could probably give you ten billion dollars,â Loid drawled.
Lily rubbed her chin and nodded. âThatâs a good idea.â
Shaun was at a loss for words. He thought that Loid and Lily were truly a couple. One of them was twoâfaced while the other was cunning
Lilyâs mood had Bifted, and her expression was no longer as cold.
Shaun stared at Lily, blinking hard. It was the first time he had seen Lily so happy. She had always been as cold as Loid. He thought she looked beautiful when she smiled.
As Shaunâs thoughts continued, he suddenly felt a cold gaze pointed at lum. He shuddered and withdrew his gaze. âLily, you could use Loidâs money, so why not?â
As Shaun spole, he patted his chest. He thought Loid was petty for not letting him even look at Lily.
âI prefer to cam my own money.â Lily was in a good mood, so she did not take a dig at Shaun
Impressed by that answer, Shaan said nothing more,
1/1
Shaun was the one who chose the restaurant. He was a foodie. After several months in Lagersfield, he had tried all of the local delicacies
The food at the restaurant be recommended was not half bad.
Midway through the meal, Lilyâs phone rang After glancing at the screen, she walked out with her phone.
Loid was sitting beside her. He had taken a cursory glance at her phone. There was no caller ID on the screen, only a string of numbers.
Once he saw the number, his eyes narrowed. He had a good memory, and that number was somewhat familiar to him.
Loid looked toward the entrance and then withdrew his gaze.
*Loid, are you really going to let Lily treat him?â Shaun had waited until Lily had left before he asked the question. âIs her medical expertise so great that she can revive the dead?â Shaun poured a glass of beer. After noticing that Lily always drank beer, he started drinking it too. He found it quite pleasant once he got used to the taste
After taking a sip, Shaun continued, âNell said not. If she canât heal him, and itâs exposedâ¦â
only Shadowbane can bring the dead back to life. If Lily is Shadowbaneâs apprentice, she might be able to do that. But it sheâs
Loid gently drummed his fingers on the table. His stem expression showed little emotion. After mulling it over for a while, he said, âLet her tryâ She sighed and took a few gulps of beer in frustration. âAlright, itâs your call.â
