Lilyâs phone rang with a text message notification. She picked it up and glanced at it. While replying, she answered Loldâs question, âMondayâ
âEmber Creek High School isnât as simple as it looks. Be careful.â Laid was somewhat curious to see how this defiant girl would fare at Ember Creek High School. It seemed he would need to arrange someone to protect her in secret.
âGot itâ Lily leaned back in her chair, finishing her beer in one gulp..
Shannon came downstairs and saw the harmonious scene between Loid and Lily, her resentment growing deeper. She thought that Loid was a brutal person, so why was he being so kind to Lily?
After hesitating for a moment, Shannon hid the coldness in her eyes and walked over to Loid. She said softly, âMr. Laurter, my sister doesnât know anyone here. Can I stay with her for a while until she gets used to it? Then Iâll move cutâ
â
Shannon came here today on Juliaâs orders. Julia instructed her to use the pretext of helping Lily get acquainted with Loid so that he could get to know her. After all, they had only met once, at the engagement party for Loid and Lily. They barely managed to connect with each other.
Julia thought that Loid only agreed to marry Lily based on her looks. Since Lold initially wanted to marry Shannon, as long as she behaved sensibly and well, Loid might prefer Shannon more. After all, she was the real daughter of the Martinez family, far superior to that country bumpkin
However, Julia didnât intend for Shannon to stay at Laurier Residence. She wanted Shannon to show up and have a brief conversation with Loid before leaving so that Loid might develop a sense of attachment.
But Shannon couldnât resist. She had to stay. She couldnât let any potential feelings between Loid and Lily develop
Told raised an eyebrow and looked at Lily. âAre you not used to bere?â
âNot really.â Lily smiled playfully. She immediately saw through Shannonâs intentions but couldnât be bothered to care. As long as Shannon didnât interfere with her plans, she didnât mind what she did.
âSo, should she stay?â Loid was somewhat surprised by Lilyâs reaction. She had seen through Shannonâs intentions but still went along with her. He found it quite interesting âSure.â Lily stood up, not bothering with the dishes on the table. She went straight upstairs.
As she passed Shannon, she stopped and tilted her head to look at her. âSeems like thereâs no driver here.ââ
It was clear that Lily was implying that Shannon would have to find her own way to school. This was the suburbs. It was at least an hour and a halfâs drive to Ember Creek High School
The Martinez family only had one driver, who usually took Liam to work and Shannon to school. Now, they would need to hire another driver.
Shannonâs expression fell, but she gritted her teeth and asked, âIsnât Dad pulling strings to get you into Ember Creek High School? We can go to school together.â
âMeâ Lily smiled and pointed at Loid. âHeâs talking me.â
Shannon was s
speechless
Loid suddenly gutlawed. As his fiancée, it was only natural for him to take Lily to school. He was not obligated to take Shannon. She wouldnât dare ask him to take her either. Loid followed Lily upstairs, glancing at the dishes on the table.
âMs. Martinez, there are no maids here, so Iâll leave this to you.â
Shannon was so angry that tears welled up in her eyes. She wanted to say something, but Loid had already taken Lilyâs hand and gone upstairs.
Shannonâs fingers clenched into fists as she watched their intimate interaction. Her delicate features twisted with rage.
