Chapter 149
At the Maynard residence, Anthony had been anticipating his subordinates return for the entire night. He wasnât anxious at first, but his anxiety grew the longer he waited for
them.
However, when no news came back when the clock struck midnight, he finally lost his cool
He called his men right away. âGo find out whatâs going on over there! Why havenât we received any updates? Does it take this long to deal with a high school student?
Before he ended his call, he heard a deafening noise from outside.
âDamn it!â Anthony hung up and went downstairs. âWho the heck is that in the middle of the night?â
Also startled by the noise, Heather followed him downstairs. She was shocked to discover a huge crowd down stairs.
Equally dumbfounded, Anthony realized that they werenât his men. He was no match if someone were to attack him now.
âScott!â he thundered. âTake Heather away firstâ
Before Scott could respond, a crisp voice came from the door.
âNo one is leaving tonightâ The crowd dispersed, and a petite girl ambled in. She was dressed in a black hoodie and a black cap with the brim pressed low, making it hard for others to discern her features.
Heatherâs expression instantly darkened. She wasnât dead! Having never met Lily, Anthonyâs cowled at her for a long time.
âWho are you? Why are you causing a scene at my house?â
He wasnât a fool, Judging by the drastic difference in numbers now, he couldnât guarantee their escape. The most he could do was to stall and wait for his men to return.
Lily smirked. âDonât you know who I am?â
Scrutinizing her face, Anthony said, âStop beating around the bush. What are you here for?â
âTo end your life!â Lily met his eyes, a malicious glint flickering in her eyes.
Anthonyâs expression hardened. âMany people have said that, but none have done it. What makes you think youâre capable of that?â
He chanced a glance at the people behind Lily. âThey canât even lay a finger on me.â
âYouâre mistaken. I donât need them to kill you. I can tackle you myself,â Lily said, a smirk playing on her lips.
Anthony roared with laughter. âIâve never heard such a ridiculous joke. You want to kill me on your own?â
Wary of the people behind her, he figured he might struggle to fend them off. But her aloneâ¦Anthony sneered at her brazenness.
Lily shot a glance at him. âI forgot to introduce myself. Iâm Lily.â
âWhat?â Anthonyâs expression changed instantly. If Lily was standing before him, that meant all the men he had dispatched were dead
Lily saw through him in a heartbeat. âYouâre right. All your men are dead.â
With both her hands in her pockets, she continued nonchalantly, âEveryone related to you in Lagersfield is dead. Only those in this house remain, and Iâve come to deal with you lot personally.â
âWho exactly are you?â Anthony gritted out.
