(#82) The Empress

"Lady Aesther, a letter came from the Imperial Family," Belle said.

"From whom is it?" I asked.

"From the Baron Family? No, from the EMPRESS." She said.

"You finally realized!" I said, smiling.

"Of course, the only person who would dare use the Baron family seal in the Imperial Family, there is only the Empress. I am not that's stupid." Belle said.

"What must be the letter about?" Belle asked, thinking hard.

What must be the letter about? I thought and laid back on my chair.

Of course, what else can it be about?

The previous day.

"Lady Aesther, since you didn't inform early of your arrival to the Palace, the Head was quite in a hurry and just randomly chose one of us as your escort." The Maid following me told.

"Doesn't matter who my escort. And Miss, you can leave. I know my way around here, very well." I said.

"That is not proper from my side, My Lady. I am getting paid for doing this. Please don't make it hard for me." The maid said.

"Whatever. Just don't hinder me." I said.

"Alright, My Lady. May I ask where you are going?" She asked.

So much for not being a hindrance. I rolled my eyes.

"The Queen's Palace. Palace Vesilla." I said.

"That we must go that way." The Maid said, pointing to the right.

"But as I remember," I said and looked at her.

"The Empress claimed that she becomes very exhausted after walking a long way from her Palace to the Imperial Palace, she suggested a shorter path," Maid said.

"When did this happen?" I asked.

"The work finished two weeks ago." The Maid said.

"Oh. Alright, then. We shall go through that way." I said ad the Maid nodded.

We then reached the Vesilla Palace.

From there to the Empress's room, nothing had changed.

I could easily get the way.

The Empress's room was guarded by two soldiers.

"Let the Empress know that Lady Aesther, has come to meet her," I told the guards.

"Yes, Lady Aesther." The guard bowed and opened the door, from where the remaining was carried out by a maid, inside the room.

Then the door opened and a maid came out.

"The Empress is currently sleeping and will not be seeing anyone for now." She said.

"That's a pity. But I am well-versed in medicine. Let me check her condition." I said and took a step forward and the maid stopped me.

"What is the matter now?" I asked.

"The Empress told that she cannot see you for now," I said.

"But didn't you tell that she was sleeping? Which is the real statement. And regardless of that, you have indeed lied and that too about an Imperial Member.

Don't you know what your crime is?" I asked.

"Please forgive me, Lady Aesther. I deserve to die." The Maid said.

"If you say so, then I don't want to see any criminals blocking my path," I said and made my way in.

When I got in, I saw the Empress sitting in the Balcony, drinking tea.

"To what do I owe the pleasure of you visiting me, Miss Aesther?" The Empress asked.

"Nothing much. Just wanted to know whether you knew some facts." I said and got close to her.

"May I?" I asked, gazing over at the chair.

She just nodded and sipped her tea.

"I will not beat around the bush. And I hope that you will not mind me being, I am afraid, forward." I said.

"Talk away." The Empress said.

"Let's talk about you, Empress. As a Mother, you have lost your dear son." As I said that I could see her grip on the cup increasing.

"Miss Aesther! You are-" The Empress's maid started.

"Maid, have you forgotten the etiquettes?" I asked her and she remained quiet.

"Back to the conversation, Empress. As a Sister, you are starting to lose his help." I said.

"Nonsense!" Empress said.

"Both you and I know that I am telling the truth. The only reason why Count Barrel had supported you was because of the Second Prince. Now you don't even know where he is." I said.

"Are you trying to put salt on my wound, Miss Aesther?" Empress asked.

"You know well what you did, Empress. You can just see it as karma."

And the last factor. Wife. And in that, you had not even once succeeded. In the beginning, there was at least respect. But now, pure hatred lies between you both." I said.

"But then again, it was because of what you did yourself," I said.

"ME?! What did I do?" Empress asked.

"You don't know. Then let me make you remember.

Who was it that person who urged the King to take in the lost princess of the lost land as the concubine, when she realized she couldn't give birth?

Who was it that person who cunningly made plans between her and his majesty?

Who was that person, when known she could give birth, sowed the seed of distrust between them?

Who was that person, when she realized that nothing can come between their loves, decided to finally kill her?

Empress, you might have tried hard to hide it within, but the harder you try, the more reason it has to come out to the surface." I said.

"I-I, had no choice. The man whom I loved, my husband was loving another woman. How could I tolerate it?" She asked.

"Then are you forgetting that it was actually you asked them to get together in the first place?" I asked and she kept quiet.

"I-I, I don't know what to do." She said.

"If you are going to keep on quiet after committing all these sins, then life is going to be hard on for you," I said.

"What do you want Miss Aesther?" Empress asked.

"I am going to give a petition in the court, and I need you to support me." I said, quite bluntly.

"Which is?" She asked.

"Regarding mine, and the whole ladies as general, in stepping up to get the right for being the heiress." I said.

"Presumptuous!" Empress said.

"It might seem rash to you, but think about it. Would you have been in this dilemma if you had the same right your brother had too?" I asked, leaning in closer.

"I-I, I need to think about it." I said.

"Don't disappoint me, Empress. Or I am afraid that I might disappoint you too." I said.

"What is written in it?" I asked.

"Just two words," Belle said.

"That is?" I asked.

"I agree."

Note For Readers.

I am sorry for not uploading, but I gave you guys my reason and all.

My exams didn't completely finish, but Math just got over today. So yeah, you can tell that I am celebrating that.
