(#46) All Falls Down, Finally!

"Is everything done on your side, Adam?" I asked the head of the guards.

"Yes, Lady Aesther." He bowed.

I smiled.

Maylene, I will make you know what it means to get both your family's and your honor tarnished.

And I hope that you will feel ten times more humiliated than me.

But there is a problem. Everything is happening faster compared to my previous life.

"Where is Belle?" I asked.

"She is doing what she must," Adam said.

"Good," I said.

"Alright then. Why are we waiting backstage for? We need to get the show on the stage." I said walked towards the pre-wedding hall.

It is nothing of much importance. Just for the nobles to show that they have the money.

I went and stood near the side door.

I am supposed to get in through the main front door, but today is an exceptional case.

The side door isn't much visible. Many pillars will hover over you and keep you hidden.

But after the pillar, is where the Glazed Circle is kept.

The Glazed Circle is a form of light reflection created by the glazed glass, which is in the form of a circle.

It is only visible during the day. And also magical substances remain suspended in it. (It is nothing but the dust and other minute particles that scatter light).

So in short, it is a very good sport if you want to make a sudden, amazing and attractive entry. Just what I want.

I entered through there, I stood behind the pillar.

Everyone was talking happily about the bride being fashionably late.

I sighed with relief.

At the least, they were not talking about the shameful run-away bride.

Suddenly the door banged open. "Your Highness!" A voice rang throughout the Hall.

Finally, this is also happening.

"What is the matter, Miss Maylene?" The King asked.

"This..." She took a paper and walked towards the King.

"Maylene?" I made my entry.

"Anastasia? What are you doing here?" Maylene asked.

"What do you mean by, what am I doing here? This is my marriage. If not me, who should be here? You?" I asked.

Well, according to you it must be you, but when Anastasia meddles, you are deep down in trouble.

"Your Highness, I have something to report. The maids that were supposed to help me get ready, were spies. They tried to kidnap me." I said.

"What? Alright. The Special Investigation Branch will look into this matter." The King said and I smiled.

And then I looked at Maylene.

"Oh my, what is that?" I asked and took the paper from her.

Since she was shocked, she didn't grip it tightly, and I was able to get it easily.

As I read through it, I couldn't help but smile.

It is the same as last life's.

"Why are you smiling, Lady Anastasia? Is it humorous?" King Adelouis asked.

"No, Your Highness. I said and turned to his Highness and slipped the letter which Maylene gave to me, inside my sleeves and took out the one I prepared.

"No, Your Highness. It is just that Maylene's behavior confuses me to the extent that I don't know if I should laugh or cry." I said.

"What is the matter?" The King asked.

"I am really confused why Maylene would want to publicize this matter? Is she admitting her own faults? Maybe for getting a lesser punishment. Or, do you hate the Second Prince this much?" I asked.

"W-what do you mean?" Maylene became confused.

"Here," I said and handed over the paper to the King.

Then the King smiled.

"What is the matter, Your Highness?" Sir Barrel asked, getting worried.

"Aren't you friends with the Second Prince? Then why do you want to sabotage his wedding? You are even using your name? You must really hate him then." The King said.

"Use my name?" Maylene was getting more and more confused.

"Then?" I asked.

The King then handed the letter to Maylene. Maylene read the letter with utter shock.

"This-this, this is not my letter," Maylene said with a disbelieving look.

"This is not your letter? Then that means that there are other letters as well?" I asked.

"No, no, no," Maylene said. "This is the only one," Maylene said and I smiled.

"But Your Highness, this seems wrong, actually. Maylene loves Louis and Louis loves Maylene. I don't know why I should separate them.

Even though they were the only friends I had and they betrayed me, I should work this out with logic. To go to the extent of kidnapping me, of course, they are real friends." I said with a hint of sarcasm.

I then turned to Maylene.

"I trusted you, my dear friend. But you betrayed. The people who I thought were my lover and best friend betrayed me. I don't know what I did. But if I did, I am sorry." I said bowing.

"Goodness, what is she doing?" A person from the crowd asked.

"Obviously it must be that treacherous friend and lover who must apologize." Another said.

"I know right. I can't believe they planned to ruin her marriage." A lady said.

"Exactly. Don't they know the importance of marriage?" Another Lady asked.

"Very true. And to think that I thought that Lady Aesther was the villain and the other two were innocent." Another person said.

And many more agreed.

"B-but, dear," The Empress came forward.

"But dear, don't you love Louis?" She asked.

"I did, Your Highness. But this is unfair. Unfair to them. And we Aesthers have ethics, which we must follow." I said.

"But-but," The Empress was very shocked.

I kept my hands on her hands with a warm, fake, smile.

"It is alright. As a mother, your greatest wish will be seeing your children happy. And now, your son is going to be happy, when he marries the one he loves." I said.

"N-no... (hic), No..." She was starting to cry.

Then the Empress exclusive maid came and guided her back to her room.

The day continued as it was.

But in my stead, it was Maylene. Maylene became the bride.

This time, in my last life, I and the Aesther family was so humiliated. And this time, it is them.

I saw Lindon being pleased with the show I provided for him.

And the rest of the people had a look of shock and disgust on their faces.

I smiled. Or grinned.

And of course, it is not the end for them. And it is simply the beginning. The beginning, of their end.
