Both Elizabeth and Beverly had ugly expressions on their faces.
The surrounding guests all pretended to drink and watch the scenery, but their attention was all on this side.
"The kid that Miss Alice taught are just just so so, and she even told the child to crawl on the ground. Do you know how many times a day we wash Holly's tableware?" Elizabeth said coldly, her tone full of disdain.
"The child could not be spoiled."
Beverly did not like it when people said something that hurt others, but she disliked it when people said something wrong about Elizabeth.
When she thought about how Elizabeth had imprisoned her daughter for half a year, she felt even more uncomfortable.
"William was raised by me, and now he is the CEO of the N.E. Just saw your daughter and son." Elizabeth said, but she suddenly thought of something, and spoke with a tone of hostility, "Let's not talk about your daughter. Your son can not get on the table."
"What do you mean?"
Beverly stood up angrily after hearing what she said, and asked while staring at Elizabeth.
"Mother!" Alice spoke as she walked towards Beverly. She reached out her hand to grab her arm and said, "Mother, please take a seat. The ball will begin soon."
Under the afterglow of the dusk, Beverly looked at her own daughter. She understood that she was in a difficult situation, so she did not make a sound, bent down, and sat down.
Elizabeth glanced at them indifferently, before her gaze landed on the Kathy within the baby carriage.
Seeing the Kathy, Elizabeth's gaze softened, and she extended her hand out to pull the baby carriage over, and seeing that, Alice immediately held down the baby carriage.
This action was completely subconscious and she did not think anything.
It was an innate nurturing mentality.
Alice looked at Elizabeth, and Elizabeth also looked at her. Her eyes were somewhat cold, and she lowered her voice, "What, I can't even look at my own granddaughter now?"
"Of course."
Alice came back to reality and slowly released her hand.
Elizabeth did not do anything to them.
Elizabeth wanted to pull the baby carriage over, but Beverly, who was extremely close to the Kathy, pulled the baby carriage back. She reached out and hugged Kathy out of the car, her face full of love.
Elizabeth's expression was serene as she attempted to stand up. Alice reached out her hand and pressed down on her shoulders, making her seem intimate but secretly exerting strength for Elizabeth to sit.
The surrounding Guests looked at them, either intentionally or unintentionally.
"What do you want?" Elizabeth was pushed down onto the chair, a look of awkwardness flashing past her eyes.
Alice was getting bolder and bolder.
Alice bent her body and smiled as she leaned her face close to her ear, appearing to be very intimate and harmonious, yet her mouth still said, "If you had sincerely come today to fix the problem with William, I think he would be happy. But you bringing Mona over here has already displeased him once, and I won't let him be unhappy twice."
She wouldn't let anyone start a ruckus at this birthday party.
"Are you indicating that I am a wicked mother?"
Elizabeth asked coldly.
"William is someone that we all want to protect. You want to strangle my heart in so many ways, but why are you doing it today? Instead of doing all this, why don't you think of a way to cure William's illness? " Alice said softly, her hand not light nor heavy as she placed it on her shoulder.
When had Elizabeth ever been suppressed to speak like this? Deep awkwardness immediately flashed past her face.
But very quickly, Elizabeth returned back to normal, following along with her, she looked at her and smiled: "Since it's like this, then we shouldn't miss a test."
After saying that, Elizabeth's leg that was hidden under the noble woman's skirt fiercely stomped onto Alice's foot.
The pointed heel plunged into her foot.
Alice's face instantly paled and she almost fell to the ground.
Guests in the courtyard didn't notice the scene that was hidden under the expensive skirt, and stood around chatting.
Elizabeth sat on the chair and looked at Alice provocatively.
"Madam, I love William more than myself."
Alice forced herself to endure the pain as she spoke each word from her lips.
Alice bent her body, her face extremely close to Elizabeth's.
Elizabeth looked at the perseverance in her eyes, saw that her lips were trembling from the pain she enduring, and suddenly felt that what she had done was meaningless, and it was even meant to be disrespectful to her.
It was as if at this moment, all the grace she possessed had vanished.
Elizabeth slowly retracted her leg, her face indifferent.
Alice's feet had survived. She heaved a sigh of relief, but it seemed that Mrs. Cullen and her mother would not be able to fight anymore. Just as she was about to turn around and leave, Elizabeth's slightly low voice sounded out from beside her, "Holy is staying at the hotel. After the ball ends, find an excuse to go and take a look.
Hearing this, Alice looked at her in shock, and said in a low voice, "Thank you." This was her son firstly, but now she had to thank her for every single time she saw him.
"Don't call William. With his personality, he knows that Holy is here and will definitely rob. He will definitely break off all ties with Cullen family. When that happens, my husband will definitely get angry, and will no longer care about William's sickness. "Elizabeth said in a low voice, so that Alice could only hear her.
Alice nodded, "I understand, Madam."
Alice left Elizabeth's side and stepped on Alice's back hard. It was so painful that it felt like she was walking on the edge of a blade.
She forced herself not to let anyone see what was happening.
Being a little further away from the crowd, Alice was in so much pain that she couldn't even reach the entrance of the castle. She could only look for a quiet place to stop and sit on the bench.
When the skirt was pulled apart, Alice saw that there was blood flowing out of the white leather shoes on her feet.
The soles of her feet were bright red.
"Miss Alice, are you alright?"
An unfamiliar voice sounded.
Alice looked up and saw a young boy with brown hair and a tall nose standing not far away with a glass of red wine in his hand.
"Oh, I'm fine."
Alice's face was a little pale. Her legs felt as if they were being pierced by needles, as if flesh and blood were clamoring.
Elizabeth's stomp was too ruthless.
"Miss Alice, excuse me."
The young boy set his glass aside and walked over to her. He squatted down, took her feet up and took off her shoes without saying a word.
"No need." It was too late for Alice to stop her. The man looked at the wound on her foot and couldn't help but frown.
"No, I accidentally kicked something. "Thank you for your concern. I'm fine."
As Alice was about to pull back her foot, the man grabbed her foot. With his other hand, he took out a clean handkerchief from his pocket and wiped off the blood and dust on her foot, carefully wiping them off.
When he touched the wound, Alice's body trembled in pain.
Elizabeth's heels were thin and sharp, like knives stabbing into her feet.
"This won't do. It needs to be disinfected and bandaged."
The young boy squatted down in front of her and said.
"Really? Then I'll go to bandage him, thank you."
Alice retracted her leg.
"Miss Alice, you can't move about randomly right now. The medicine I study in the school will make me a doctor in the future, so you better believe my words." The boy stood up and looked at her, then said seriously, "I'll go in and ask for the medicine box."
With that, the warm-hearted boy turned and ran. Alice couldn't even shout him out.
Alice looked down at her feet, causing her to frown in pain.
She lifted her foot and wiped the blood off it with her handkerchief. There was a sound of footsteps, and she slipped her foot into her shoe and looked up.
Daniel stood not far away and looked at her, "Miss Alice, the ball is about to begin, and it will have to be started by you and the Young Master."
"Okay, I got it. You can go and invite William."
Dance.
How could she dance with her feet?
If she couldn't jump, she had to jump.
After Alice sent Daniel away, she slowly stood up from the ground. The pain was excruciating, and she lowered her eyes to look at herself.
She couldn't tell.
Alice clenched her teeth and endured the pain, then walked towards the courtyard.
As the sky darkened, all the lights in the courtyard lit up. The lights intertwined on the trees were like a tree of fire, gorgeous and dazzling. The lamps on the ground were like stars embedded into the night sky. It was an incomparably wonderful scene.
Everyone was waiting for the ball to begin.
Alice walked over, and as if nothing had happened, she started chatting with the other female guests, bringing her wine cup and clinking it with the others.
The pain in her foot made her almost unable to stand.
She could feel the blood seeping out of her shoes. It's okay.
Alice tried her best to not let herself move too much, and she just stood there and chatted with others.
"Miss Alice, so you're here."
A young boy with brown hair and a tall nose came out from the crowd, walking towards Alice enthusiastically. Everyone looked at her in surprise.
"I'm fine now, thank you for your concern."
Seeing him, Alice immediately spoke out.
The light fell on the boy's face. It was filled with vitality and enthusiasm.
"No, I must check it. I've brought the box, let's go." the boy said.
"There's really no need."
Alice felt that all the gazes in her surroundings were focused on them, and for a moment, she didn't know what to do.
The boy in front of her was too enthusiastic.
"Just once. Come, follow me!" The boy didn't have time for her to resist. He took her hand and led her away, his other hand pushing away the crowd beside him.
"You guys give way, give way please."
Alice paled from the pain. She did not even have the strength to resist and allowed him to drag him forward.
The crowd suddenly opened up a path for themselves.
Alice looked forward in pain, to see that William was walking towards her. He was wearing a suit that Daniel had personally sewn.
His legs were slender and straight, step by step, and he firmly stepped on the lawn, and the hand by his side slightly swayed as he walked, his handsome face had a tense expression, the thin lip's skin so clean that it did not have a trace of blood, and the light beam floated around him and dyed the corner of his eyes. He looked at her with a pair of ink -black eyes, his gaze gloomy to the extreme.
It was like a black hole.
The black hole that swallowed everything seemed as though whoever's line of sight stayed on his eye for one more second would be engulfed beyond redemption.
