Malik awoke the next morning in Bruce's house, in a different room, a different bed...a wet bed.
A wet bed?
He jumped up quickly, throwing the blanket off of him.
"Shitttt shit shit shit! This can't be happening right now. Oh goddd"
He panicked looking round frantically for clothes to change into. 'Okay..alright, first I'll check that Bruce is still asleep and if he is I'll just wash the sheets and my pajamas myself, hopefully they'll be dry before he notices they're in there and we can pretend like it never happened' he thought to himself. He pulled clean boxers, shorts and a t shirt out of a box stuffed with his clothes, he still hadn't unpacked everything as he only arrived the night before. He took his wet clothes off and changed into his clean ones, then crept into the hallway to investigate whether Bruce was awake or not.
As he approached the man's bedroom door, he heard the sound of him snoring. This was good, Bruce was in a deep sleep and probably wouldn't wake up for a while giving Malik time to sort himself out. He went back to his own bedroom and peeled the bed sheets off, throwing them over to the door ready to be taken out, then he noticed the stain of his puddle on the mattress. He hadn't quite thought about what he was going to do with that. Although Malik  didn't usually wet the bed anymore, his dad kept protection on the mattress, just incase and due to the fact that he did until he was 12. 'Right, I'll deal with you later' he said to himself. He picked up the bundle of wet bed sheets and carried them downstairs.
When he finally figured out how to use the washing machine, he stuffed his pajamas and sheets in and shut the door quietly, praying that the washing machine wouldn't be loud enough to wake Bruce. But as he turned towards the kitchen door, he noticed a tall figure leaning against the door frame.
"You're up early...and you're cleaning?" Bruce chuckled, inside he had an idea of what had happened, but didn't want to push the boy into embarrassment...not too soon anyway, he wanted to play with him a little first.
"Yeah, I wanted to er just clean up y'know to show how thankful I am and stuff  'n' just to pay you back really" Malik could feel his heart pounding in fear of Bruce finding out what had happened, but managed to play it cool, so he thought anyway.
"Is that so? And you normally wake up this early?" Bruce questioned, biting his tongue in order to not let a huge grin slip onto his face.
"I guess..." Malik mumbled, avoiding eye contact with Bruce
"I guess I'll go to your room and start unpacking some of your stuff" Bruce replied
"NO! I can do it myself. Don't go in there, I mean, you don't have to, I mean you can if you want, but like you don't need to, you don't have to" The boy tried desperately to save his sad act
Bruce grinned, he found it absolutely adorable how defensive he was. "Alright Malik, what's in the washing machine, and don't tell fibs because I know you hate anything to do with cleaning!"
"Nothing, honestly, please it's just...they're just curtains-" He was screwed
"CURTAINS?!" The man couldn't contain himself as he burst into a fit of laughter "oh gosh Malik, that's so awful, it's brilliant! You do make me laugh. Now drop the act and just let me see what's in there"
Bruce already knew what was in there, he'd already been into Malik's room and seen the wet patch on the mattress. He thought Malik was still asleep when he woke up, so went into his room to check on him but instead found his bed empty and wet.
Malik knew there was nothing he could do now, besides, it was a one off, it wouldn't happen again, right? He stood away from the washing machine letting Bruce open the door. He cringed as he watched the man pull his soaked pajamas and sheets out.
"You wet the bed huh? Why didn't you come wake up? I could've had these washed, dried and fresh bedding on your bed a lot faster than you." Bruce looked down at the boy, feeling sorry for him, although he couldn't deny he was enjoying this.
"I'm really sorry- I don't usually..errr...the bed...I haven't for years...I don't know why i- it- happened, I didn't want to wake you up because I thought I could have them washed and dried and back on my bed without you knowing, I just wanted to pretend it didn't happen"
"Oh boy, you don't need to be embarrassed about it...I used to change you when you were small!" Bruce told him
"Shut up!" The boy whined as his face turned a very bright pink
Bruce laughed to himself as he watched him fidget in embarrassment. "Right, go get yourself showered, I'll sort these out and then we'll have to go shopping for a new mattress. And a mattress protector!"
Malik rolled his eyes as he trodded off to the bathroom to get cleaned up. Even though Bruce had reassured him that it was okay, he still felt guilty and embarrassed.
