"Are you done?" Bruce asked
"Yes, thank you." Madi replied as he took her plate for her.
"No problem, I've been called into work so it'll just be you and Malik here until around 9-ish." The man told her.
"That's fine."
"If you find time, there's a few things I forgot to pick up from the shop yesterday, I've made a list here." Bruce handed her the list, "Don't worry if you don't end up going, i can get it myself tomorrow."
"No it's alright, I'll get it for you. I don't have much college work to do anyway." Madi said, taking the list.
"Thank you," Bruce got up and grabbed his keys, waiting at the bottom of the stairs.
"Malik!" He shouted
"What?" The boy replied
"Come here, please."
Malik paused his game and took his head set off, then went downstairs to Bruce.
"I've got to go to work so-" Bruce started.
"Okay byeeee" Malik said as he turned around to walk back up the stairs.
Bruce pulled him back by his t-shirt. "I've made a shopping list, I'd like you to go with Madi to get it please."
"Alright, fine, let go of me."
Bruce smiled and ruffled the boys hair, "if you need anything, call me, and don't kill each other, please." He told them as he left the house.
"Shall we go get this shopping then, get it out of the way?" Madi said as she got up off the chair.
"Why do I have to come?" the boy groaned.
"Because Bruce said, so do as your told." She replied.
"Stop speaking to me like I'm a kid."
"I will, when you stop acting like one." Madi smirked.
"Shut up."
The pair continued to bicker on their walk, and even at the shop.
"Put them down Malik! Bruce didn't write 8 bags of chocolate buttons on his shopping list." Madi shoved the piece of paper into Malik's face.
"Give me that...No, he wrote 9 bags of chocolate buttons on his list, actually." Malik replied, snatching the list out of her hand.
"Stop being stupid, you can get ONE bag."
"Fine, but don't expect me to share with you." The boy rolled his eyes.
"Fine."
The two finished their shopping trip and arrived home. Madi knew Malik would go straight up to his room and continue with his game, and wanted to find a reason for him to have to spend time with her.
"Malik, will you help me put this all away for Bruce?" She asked.
"Er, let me think...No?" Malik raised an eyebrow at her, why on earth would he willingly put shopping away?
"Oh come on, after everything he does for you, you can't do him one favor?"
"I can do him one favor, and I have, it was called going shopping for him."
"No, I went shopping for him! You just wanted to buy sweets and chocolate for yourself, because that's the only person you ever think about, yourself." Madi told him.
"Oh my god, fine." He replied as he began helping.
Madi finished filling the cupboards and turned to face Malik.
"What are you looking at?" The boy asked awkwardly.
"You." She replied.
"Okay, why?" Malik laughed slightly.
"I want to ask you something, but you have to be honest." Madi jumped up, sitting herself on the counter.
"Okay?" The boy seemed nervous
Madi grinned "Do you still fancy me?"
Malik laughed, "I think you're the one that fancies me."
"What makes you think that?" The girl questioned.
"You couldn't take your eyes off of me this morning when I'd got out the shower." Malik smirked, standing directly in front of where she was sat on the counter.
Madi turned her face away in embarrassment, she knew what he was saying was true, but her thoughts were interrupted when Malik's hand grabbed her gently by the chin and made her face him again. He looked into her eyes for a few seconds before he suddenly moved his hand and went back to his room without saying anything.
'What the fuck?!' Â Madi thought to herself, confused as to why, for a second, he looked like he was about to kiss her, and then all of a sudden he just walks away without saying a word. She started to question whether he did still like her.
