"I want you to allow me obtain the banished powers of the Darkness."
"Huh?! Rose do you even know what you are asking?" Enzo asked me with a horrified face.
"Yes. We need it to undo a winding course on some monsters." I spoke.
"Well...uh..." Enzo stammered.
"Enzo, we really need it." Erebus added to my statement.
"I--uh." Enzo looked away. He motioned his hands for all the reapers and other creatures present in the hall to return to their own homes. Why?
"Does it require a blood sacrifice or something?" I asked remembering some crazy novels I used to read before.
"What?! No, you read way too many books, Rose. Of course, now that a dark lord is here there is no problem in managing them...uh...the thing is..." He hesitantly spoke.
"Yes?" I prompted him.
"I...well...I never...banished them."
"HUH?!" Me, Erebus and a reaper, who floated slowly behind us, gasped.
"Then, what was all that warning and threats for?!" Erebus yelled at him. Enzo slouched, devastatingly defeated.
"Well? Speak?" Erebus threatened.
"That was only to scare off the black magic users. When the powerful techniques were banished, they won't start a war or try to besiege each other. You see, there was no dark lord then to balance off the dark users. But now---"
"ARE YOU TELLING ME YOU DID ALL THAT HOGWASH ONLY TO SCARE OFF A FEW BLACK MAGIC USERS WHILE RISKING THE WHOLE EXISTENCE OF DARKNESS?" Erebus roared at Enzo, in a fit of rage.
Enzo got down on his knees in front of Erebus who maximized his mist's volume and now towered over 50 feet.
Is the king of hell really crouching down in front of our tsun-Erebus?!
"I'm sorry. It was the only idea I had. You were running around finding the perfect person so I couldn't trouble you. I sent a warning with a small illusion where the powers were banished. Don't blame me too much. That's all I could come up with at the time being!" Enzo squinted his eyes in fear.
I guess Erebus isn't a person to be messed with.
"So, that means, I can just undo it right? No, crazy rituals and blah blah blah?" I asked, curiously. Truth be told, I did not understand the whole situation but bits and pieces helped me sum up.
"Yes, Rose. Ahh, I want to annihilate you, Enzo." Erebus screeched.
"Cool! So, how do I do it?" I questioned trying to act unfazed.
"Just how you always did. You just need to tame the intoxicated monsters. I'm pretty sure when you walk in, they'll recognize you." Enzo answered.
"Wait, was this why Nidas was exasperated with you the other day?" Erebus asked, suspiciously.
"Yes, he found out that he had the ability to use his gem back again and well, he came over and pummeled me for lying. I'm sorry." He explained and apologized. I nodded.
"I didn't need to come here to do all this, huh?" I asked, skeptically.
"True. But, on the bright side, we can complete both of them and get back faster now." Erebus sighed.
"How long will it take?"
"Not as much as half a year anymore." I scoffed at the use of Erebus's words.
One more question!
"Enzo, how did my soul split into two fragments as Rose and Blair?" I voiced out. It was bothering me for awhile.
"Oh...that..." He stammered again. Peeping at Erebus who was muttering something to himself, Enzo came up to me.
What is up with this dude?!
"Oh, fine whatever...well, the reincarnating department messed up." He whispered to me, not letting Erebus hear him.
"Go on."
"Reapers are supposed to cleanse memories, add qualities and all that stuff and somehow, a rookie messed up with yours..."
I stared at him to which his eyes twitched.
"...You were the real Rose at first and they pitied how you were executed so the grim reaper, the head, decided to give you a second chance..."
"Afterwards, your soul was ready to live your second life and change your fate. But, your soul was divided and sent into two separate bodies, accidently, to which I apologize. But one way or another you came back here where you belong. I don't know how that happened but you know, sometimes ignorance is bliss."
"Very funny. You take this job very seriously." I mocked him and Enzo winced.
"So, then, is our infamous truck-kun the grim reapers headquarters? Seriously, that guy has a reputation among people at how random he is." I laughed at my own joke.
But, I didn't receive the reaction I was expecting.
"I told you she was smart!" Erebus fired at Enzo. Enzo nodded and muttered something. I could only make out the words, 'girlfriend' and 'clever'.
"Why aren't you laughing?" I questioned totally dumbfounded.
"It's because you are right. Wahh? Erebus, where did you find this girl? You see, I told that idiot not to use a truck but did he listen? NO! He keeps boasting on how he can handle deaths faster and undercover now that he doesn't have to flap in the sky like a panting bird! He even annoys me to hibernation by ranting on about some mystery series he has been watching. The worst thing is, he even asked me for a dog!" Enzo thought out loud.
"SO, TRUCK-KUN IS ACTUALLY THE GRIM REAPER WANDERING AROUND COLLECTING DEAD SOULS?!" I gawked out.
"He sure is. Why do you think that truck never gets sentenced to jail?" Enzo answered me and I slapped myself.
Erebus was wheezing at our reactions.
Why is everything so primitive and simple!? Honestly, I expected more complex procedures but everything looks like a child's world. Just how did such a logic and world exist hidden from a human's eye???
Damm! I guess this is why children seem more intelligent than adults.
"I guess all is good now." I sighed, trying to wrap my head around everything.
"Oh, I wanted to ask, what am I supposed to do? Like a daily routine?" I knew when I got wrapped up in this, there must be some labored jobs for me.
I was dreading it but I accepted that it can't be helped.
Everyone looked at me for a span of ten seconds and burst out laughing for the hundredth time, today. Cad! You too? Traitor!
"Do you really believe that? Oh man! What have humans been thinking?!" Enzo bellowed.
"I don't get it!"
"Rose, you legit have nothing to do. Like at all. Just chill and hang. A 'Dark Lord' only has to keep the connection, balance out the other attributes and keep the monsters in check. When you finish up the deal with the missing monsters, you can just hang around." Enzo explained between hiccups.
"...And long ago, the Light attribute user accepted it saying that it is a great honor to be able to to do that so the then, dark user just handed it over. When my grandfather, Hades, asked why she did that, she replied that she could just rest while the pretentious light user mumbo-jumbos with it. And ever since, it became the head of light attribute's duty to maintain the balance." He continued after taking a breath.
After realizing this sudden piece of amazing information, I burst into a fit of giggles.
The first thing I thought about after reincarnating here was to find rest and someway or another, my rest found me. I laughed so hard, my stomach ached.
I'm so glad I became the Dark Lord. I can just chill like the villain I am!
"I think I love you guys!" I told them and they laughed along with me.
***
When I got back to Nidas's house, I didn't expect much but the guys overdid it. They had held a small party for me with a confetti canon.
Trust me, I don't have any idea how they even found one.
Medi and Lady Lyra were also there.
They had hugged me and cheered on. I showed them the symbol of darkness and they said that it uniquely fit me.
"Every dark lord is different. Since, you rocked with the sword, your heart represented your darkness in the form of a sword. The first ever symbol of the dark lord was the letter of Psi. Thereon, it depended on the person." Lyra had described the origin to me.
"What are you going to do now?" Medi had asked me.
"Firstly, I have to free those monsters that Clown Vien abducted. Afterwards, I'll go back to the duchy. Lady Lyra, do you want to come with me?"
"It's Lyra, sugar. I don't really know. If my heart tells me to visit, I'll drop by." She had answered. Such a free spirit!
"Great!" I replied. I had realized that she was more like the 'go with the flow' type.
We took a good rest and packed up in the morning. Erebus had asked if I wanted to just teleport ourselves to the Count Vien territory but I disagreed. I wanted to take an adventure through the sky. In other words, I wanted to ride on Cad.
Yep, I'm definitely taking full advantage of my authority!
Cad had agreed, gleefully.
And currently, I'm on my dragon soaring through the open skies.
