Transform!!” shouted Sheila.

“It’s Dratinaia! A general of the Tritons! What is she doing here?”

“This looks bad… really bad,” my sister muttered.

“And that swarm of dogfish behind her—how are we supposed to handle that?” I added.

We quickly cut our palms and transformed!

Then we scattered in three directions.

Dratinaia and the swarm charged straight at us—

But something strange happened.

They passed right through us, like holograms!

Suddenly, laughter echoed through the depths.

It came from everywhere at once.

“You mortals are so amusing,” said a woman’s voice, followed by more laughter.

“I know that laugh!” said Sheila, alarmed.

“It was Morska! Morska Dama tricked me!!”

“Enter the gate I’ll open for you, and I shall lead you to my world,” the mysterious voice continued.

A whirlpool began to spin in front of us—and seahorses shaped a glowing bubble gate right in its center.

Everything happened so fast.

We were pulled into the vortex—and the next thing we knew, we stood in our human forms, face to face with a throne.

On the throne sat a woman in a flowing white robe, wearing golden sandals, bracelets, and earrings. In her long blond hair rested a crown of the same golden hue, inscribed with markings in her own language.

But the most striking thing about her were her eyes—deep brown, paralyzing, as if they saw straight through to your soul.

“She’s so beautiful…” I thought.

The moment the thought crossed my mind, she looked right at me—and smiled, as if she had read it.

Of course she had. There was no doubt about it.

I blushed and quickly looked past her—to the back of the throne, where golden swords were lined up.

At that very moment, I felt something awaken inside me.

Like… I was meant to have my own sword.

A sword that reflected my soul.

A sword that would define me.
