Transform!!â shouted Sheila.
âItâs Dratinaia! A general of the Tritons! What is she doing here?â
âThis looks bad⦠really bad,â my sister muttered.
âAnd that swarm of dogfish behind herâhow are we supposed to handle that?â I added.
We quickly cut our palms and transformed!
Then we scattered in three directions.
Dratinaia and the swarm charged straight at usâ

But something strange happened.
They passed right through us, like holograms!
Suddenly, laughter echoed through the depths.
It came from everywhere at once.
âYou mortals are so amusing,â said a womanâs voice, followed by more laughter.
âI know that laugh!â said Sheila, alarmed.
âIt was Morska! Morska Dama tricked me!!â
âEnter the gate Iâll open for you, and I shall lead you to my world,â the mysterious voice continued.
A whirlpool began to spin in front of usâand seahorses shaped a glowing bubble gate right in its center.
Everything happened so fast.
We were pulled into the vortexâand the next thing we knew, we stood in our human forms, face to face with a throne.
On the throne sat a woman in a flowing white robe, wearing golden sandals, bracelets, and earrings. In her long blond hair rested a crown of the same golden hue, inscribed with markings in her own language.
But the most striking thing about her were her eyesâdeep brown, paralyzing, as if they saw straight through to your soul.
âSheâs so beautifulâ¦â I thought.
The moment the thought crossed my mind, she looked right at meâand smiled, as if she had read it.
Of course she had. There was no doubt about it.
I blushed and quickly looked past herâto the back of the throne, where golden swords were lined up.
At that very moment, I felt something awaken inside me.
Like⦠I was meant to have my own sword.
A sword that reflected my soul.
A sword that would define me.
