Alaric snapped back to reality when he saw Angelina enter the room. Frowning, he quickly moved to the side of the bed to grab his clothes, intending to get dressed.
Noticing the blood-stained white shirt he was about to put on, his back wound still untreated, Angelina marched over and snatched the shirt from his hands.
âThe shirt is dirty, for heaven's sake! Can't you find a clean one?â she scolded, exasperated.
âI wish I could change more than my shirt. Why wonât you let me?â Alaric shot back, his usual charming and playful eyes now filled with helpless irritation as he looked at Angelina.
Angelina glared back at him, frustrated by his stubbornness. âDo you have any idea what your grandparents said? They think you're not as good as Jeremiah! If you donât step up and take advantage of the Reed family's support, the moment your cousin Jeremiah comes back from abroad, you won't stand a chance in competing for the CEO position!â
Though retired, Remington still held the reins of both the Falconer family and the Falconer Group.
Whoever Remington favored for the CEO position would undoubtedly be the chosen one.
Alaricâs lack of initiative was a disappointment to Remington, risking his shot at the Falconer Group's leadership!
This was a lifetime opportunity, and there he was, treating it like child's play. Angelina was beside herself with worry for him.
âLet him take the CEO spot then! Heâs more suited for it than I am!â Alaric retorted through gritted teeth, barely containing his anger. His ambition never aligned with being a CEO; it was all Angelina pushing him towards it.
Unable to contain her anger, Angelina slapped Alaric across the face, infuriated. âHow could you say that? What is the point of all my hard work over these years? Youâre going to be the death of me!â
Alaricâs face turned slightly, his tongue touching his cheek as he gave Angelina a bloodshot look.
âWasnât it enough for my dad to be CEO all his life? That's your dream, not mine!â he countered, his words striking Angelina deeply.
âYou⦠If you donât want to be CEO of the Falconer Group, then get out! I have no son like you!â
Angelina was pierced by his words, her breathing heavy with emotion.
He dared to say being CEO was her dream, not his. She had poured her heart and soul into planning his future, and he was treating it all with disdain. Angelina was both furious and heartbroken.
After her outburst, she waited for Alaric to apologize, to beg her not to send him away. After all, without the Falconer family's backing, he was just another ordinary person. No one would indulge him, and his lavish spending would come to an abrupt end. How could Alaric, known for his extravagant lifestyle, ever cope without money?
Instead, Alaric picked up the dirty shirt from the floor, glanced at Angelina, and said, âYou said it!â
With those words, he turned and left.
Angelina was in disbelief; Alaric had actually walked out!
âYou step out of this house today, and donât you ever come back!â she shouted after him.
Alaric paused, his expression cloudy and angry, but after a second, he continued on without looking back.
Watching Alaricâs departing figure, Angelina was stunned. He had actually dared to leave the Falconer family!
It wasn't until Alaricâs car had driven away that Angelina snapped out of her shock, realizing he had truly left. Fuming, she kicked at the ground, pacing back and forth, utterly infuriated by her son.
âYou think youâve grown wings now? Iâll see how far you can fly without money. Youâll come crawling back!â she muttered to herself, then pulled out her phone and called the bank to freeze all of Alaricâs accounts.
As Alaric drove to a hotel, intending to rest there, he discovered his bank cards were frozen, unusable. He didnât need to guess twice to know this was Angelinaâs doing.
Was this her way of forcing him to come back?
