Chapter 98 Where Is the Evidence
âI have the evidence, of course. How can I possibly have the nerve to talk through my hat on something so serious? A personâs character matters more than anything else, right?â Melanie looked as though she was ready for anything. She raised her cell phone, saying, âI need to link my cell phone to the big screen to show it to everyone.â
Vania motioned to the staff members at the scene to help Melanie link her cell phone to the screen.
Seeing how confident Melanie was and how unperturbed Vania seemed, everyone at the scene began to have doubts.
On the other hand, most of the netizens sided with Melanie when they saw this.
âSheâs the head of a company, after all. She can pretend to be so calm on the outside, but I reckon sheâs already panicking deep in her heart.â
âA talented woman? Iâd say sheâs more like a thief. Letâs blacklist such an abominable woman from the industry!â
âWhat makes such a woman qualified to be one of the judges? Is she gonna teach people how to plagiarize from others?â
âBoycott Vania Greyson! Boycott Galaxy Corporation! Boycott Mia Stravinsky!â
âPerhaps Master Mia achieved her status by plagiarizing from others, too.â
Josie, who was watching the live broadcast of the event in the Greyson Residence, had been helping Melanie regulate the comments on the internet all this while. Seeing how the netizens were now pulling Vania to pieces as if they wished to skin and eat her alive, Josie was incredibly pleased. When Melanie shows the evidence later on, Vania will be completely knocked off the pedestal, upon which time sheâll be nothing but a public enemy left at our mercy!
Meanwhile, Vaniaâs three kids were also following the situation on the internet at home. When they saw the netizens hurl insults at their mother, they were very angry, but they held back the urge to fight back. Itâs not the time yet, they thought.
At this moment, Melanieâs cell phone had been linked to the big screen at the scene. Melanie opened her WhatsApp chat window with deft fingers, saying, âMr. Wrightâs original manuscript is here. This is what he sent to me, and Iâm now opening it for everyone.â
As she spoke, the document was opened, showing the main content of the creative concept for the ad campaign as well as numerous traces of alterations and some attached pictures to everyone. Anyone could tell without scrutinizing the document that it had to be the original manuscript. After all, the traces of multiple revisions couldnât possibly be faked.
At the sight of this, everyone involuntarily gasped and looked at Vania with curious eyes.
Melanie then provoked, âI believe that everyone has their own judgment on this, and plagiarists have to be punished. What else do you have to say, Vania?â
Vania shook her head with a soft chuckle, showing no sign of exasperation or embarrassment at being exposed. âHow did you get your hands on Mr. Wrightâs manuscript?â
As Melanie was still aggressive in her manner, she responded, âIt doesnât matter. In any case, itâs as sure as a gun that your ad campaign was plagiarized from Mr. Wrightâs work.â
âHow can it not matter? Who can prove that it was Mr. Wright who sent you the document? Again, whereâs the evidence?â
From Melanieâs perspective, Vania was just trying to get rid of the accusation by seizing upon this point and running around in circles. Of course, she couldnât tell anyone that she had had her men find out Mr. Wrightâs contact information or that she had bought this work for 20 million. Clenching her teeth, she said, âMr. Wrightâs WhatsApp number is right here. Isnât that enough proof?â
Compared to Melanieâs stern countenance and brusque manner, Vania remained as cool as a cucumber, giving the feeling that all the accusations laid against her were going nowhere. Just then, she said softly, âYour evidence is lacking. Even if thereâs a judge here, thereâs no way he can pronounce a judgment on this.â
Melanie shot back indignantly, âYouâre just using lame arguments to defend yourself.â
Vania replied unhurriedly in a calm tone of voice, âSince youâre accusing me of plagiarism, you have to have the evidence to prove it, or I can accuse you of slander. Spreading false statements in public will also subject you to relevant punishment.â
