Suddenly, Dan Hanjieâs hand tightened at his side.
In an instant, he felt a chill in the palm of his hand, as if something was slipping away from his grasp, and he couldnât hold on to it.
Panicking, he quickly stepped forward, took Qin Youxuanâs small hand, and pulled her to his side.
âWhatâs wrong?â
Qin Youxuan was just about to open the side door and go in when he stopped her.
âLetâs go.â Dan Hanjieâs thin lips barely moved, pausing after each word.
His grip on Qin Youxuanâs hand tightened.
âWhat?â
Qin Youxuan stood stunned, then suddenly reached up to touch his forehead.
She couldnât understand why, after finally getting in, and not seeing anything yet, they had to leave.
âLetâs leave here first, donât watch anymore.â
Dan Hanjie grabbed the hand she put on his forehead, his voice filled with undisguised tension.
It was then that Qin Youxuan noticed his unusual behavior, and narrowed her eyes in puzzlement, âWhatâs wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?â
âNo.â
âSo is there something urgent?â Qin Youxuan blinked, innocent and naive.
ââ¦â
âIf you have something urgent to attend to, go ahead, Itâs okay. It wonât take me much time to take a look in. Iâll take a taxi back later. I have my wallet.â
As Qin Youxuan spoke, she playfully dangled her handbag in front of Dan Hanjie. The movement was cute and wild.
âYouâ¦â
Before Dan Hanjie could say anything, a dull knock could be heard from the courtroom.
The solemn and sacred sound clearly entered everyoneâs ears.
â⦠In view of the lack of clear evidence from the prosecution, coupled with insufficient witness testimony, the court rules that Ms. Jin Lan is not guilty of murder. She is to be released immediately!â
Released immediatelyâ¦
Released immediatelyâ¦
Qin Youxuanâs body stiffened, and she broke free from Dan Hanjieâs hand, turned around and rushed forward, pushing open the heavy wooden door.
She took mechanical steps in.
Her eyes searched the room until they found Jin Lan on the defendantâs bench.
Qin Youxuan stood at the farthest side door, so far from the judgeâs position, so far from the defendantâs bench.
But she could clearly see the joy on Jin Lanâs face, and the smile at the corner of Jin Chenyeâs lipsâ¦
It was so blatant, so dazzling.
Even Meng Ziqi, who had been disqualified as a witness due to inconsistent narratives, was standing next to Jin Chenye, and congratulating Jin Lan with delight on his face.
âAuntie, I knew you were innocent, youâll be alright, and now that youâre free, you can rest and recoverâ¦â
Jin Lan was so moved she couldnât speak, she leaned forward in her wheelchair, clutched Meng Ziqiâs hand tightly, and tears streamed down her face.
After a while, she grabbed Jin Chenyeâs hand and placed Meng Ziqiâs hand on top of it, trying to express something in fits and starts.
She was so excited she couldnât even speak clearly.
What a moving sceneâ¦
Jin Lan was acquitted, so what about the long time she spent in prison, convicted as a murderer?
Qin Youxuanâs eyes were wide open, her hands clenched into tight fists, the nails digging into her palms without her noticing the pain.
She gritted her teeth, refusing to believe what she heard.
It shouldnât be like thisâ¦
It shouldnâtâ¦
Suddenly, as if sensing something, Jin Chenye lifted his head and looked directly at Qin Youxuan.
Meeting Qin Youxuanâs teary eyes, Jin Chenye hesitated and subconsciously withdrew his hand that was holding Meng Ziqiâs.
Neither of them looked away, just gazing at each other across the crowd for a long time.
âHave you had enough?!â
A warm palm suddenly covered Qin Youxuanâs eyes, pulling her back.
