Iâve screwed up really bad â literally and figuratively. In fact, myfoolishness may well cost me my life.
Yesterday was Steve and Nikkiâs wedding day. Apart from her arrivingslightly late at the church, everything had gone pretty smoothly. That is untilthe hotel where the reception was being held.
I had a couple of whiskies in and was feeling rather mellow and goodabout the whole event.
On my third trip to the bar I spotted Steve getting a couple of refillsfor himself and Nikki.
I ambled over and asked, âSo howâs it feel to be part of the marriedcrowd? Scary?â
âActually I havenât been this happy sinceâ¦well I donât think Iâve everbeen this happy in my entire life.â
âBe careful, Steve! When you put someone on a pedestal, itâs normally youthat takes the tumble. And the higher you feel you are, the further youâllfall.â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âForget it.â
âI know youâve never really liked Nikki. But thatâs because you donâtknow her like I do.â
âI said, âForget it!â Iâm sorry. Come on! Itâs your goddamned wedding dayfor Peteâs sakes. Donât pay no mind to a miserable old pessimistic sod like me.Besides, if I didnât like her, why the hell would I want to give you guys sucha great wedding present?â
âI canât thank you enough, you know? This whole thing is just sowonderful. Everythingâs going so smoothly. You made this happen. I canât tellyou enough how happy youâve made Nikki. It means a lot to me. Iâll never forgetit.â
âI wasnât talking about the wedding expenses.â
âThen what?â
I reached into my jacket pocket and retrieved the check I had made out inhis name. I slid it face-down across the bar counter towards him. âI wasplanning on giving this to you during my little speech later on, but I felt itmight be a little too showy of me.â
He picked it up and read the amount, ââFifty Thousand Dollars!ââ
âJust a little something extra to say thank you for the great work youâvebeen doing at Global â both of you.â
âThis is way too much! I canât accept this! No!â
âOf course you can! You deserve every cent! Now put it away and stopmaking a fuss.â I looked about. âYouâre creating a scene.â I pointed to my emptyglass and spoke to the barman. âWhiskey and water - plenty ice.â Then I turnedback to Steve who already had his refills. I winked and said, âGo on! Buggeroff now! Go have some fun with your bride! Itâs your wedding day damn it!â
About an hour later I was on my way to the gents, after finishing myfourth whiskey, when a hand grabbed my arm and spun me round.
It was Nikki.
âEnjoying the party, boss?â she asked.
âI better be! Itâs costing me a goddamned fortune.â
She introduced me to her maid of honor, all in pink and frills. âThis ismy best friend and maid of honor, Melanie Edwards.â Then to Melanie she said,âThis is the man Iâve told you so much about. My big boss, Cornelius Crane.â
Melanieâs eyes widened. âAre you the guy who paid for all this?â
âThatâs me! Now if you lovely ladies will excuse me, I really need totake a piss. You both have a nice time now.â
Nikki pulled me back again. âWait! I wasnât finished.â
âDo you have any idea how dangerous it is to get between a man and thecan when he really needs to go?â
âI got a better idea.â
âYeah?â
âI want you to see where your moneyâs gone.â
âI know exactly where my moneyâs gone. The same place I need to go rightnow!â
âNo! I want you to see the bridal suit. Youâll love it. You can take apee up there.â
âI dunno? Not really interested.â
âOh, please! It would make me so happy to know that you approve.â
âApprove?â
âI donât want you to think we wasted your good money on somesillyâ¦joint.â
âJoint? This is a three star hotel. Iâm very sure theâ¦â
âOh, please, itâll only take you five minutes.â
âThatâs a whole five minutes of my life that Iâll never have back.â
âPlease? Please? Please? Pretty please?â
Just then a large party of men shuffled past us into the gents.
âShit!â I said frowning. âLooks like I just might need to point Percy atthat porcelain of yours upstairs.â
âGreat!â she exclaimed attaching herself to my arm. âYouâre just gonnalove the place. I know it!â
At the elevator she dismissed Melanie who was following us like a mutepuppy. âOh, Mel, go keep the guestsâ¦happy or something. Tell them Iâll be backsoon. Tell them I needed to take a pee.â
âIf you need to whiz, youâre gonna need my help with that dress ofyours.â
âI donât really need to go! Just tell them something - anything!â
The doors had slid shut with Mel still in the foyer.
We were the only occupants in the elevator so I asked, âHow the hell doyou take a whiz in that thing.â Her dress made her seem like a large bell. Itwas all puffed out around her waist in a massive array of folds and frills. Itwas strapless; held up securely in place by her magnificent full bosom. Herhair had been pulled up onto the top of her head and shaped into what appearedto me to be a large, shiny, golden, moon shell.
âDo you like it? Steve says I look like Cinderella.â
âYou sure he didnât say like one of her sisters?
She slapped my arm. âThat was nasty! Donât you know itâs bad luck to sayanything bad about a bride on her wedding day?â
âIt is?â
âWell it should be!â She extended her bottom lip. âWhy donât you like me?â
âI told you before. Because I know what youâre capable of.â
âYou hardly know me at all! You spurned all my advances from the veryfirst day. Iâve always liked and admired you, but you always treat me sobadly.â
âI donât trust women who can never take no for an answer.â
âI think that determination is an admirable quality.â
âAnd always getting what you want is just plain selfishness; absolutelynothing commendable about that.â
âIf you donât like me, then how come you paid for my wedding?â
âJust look at the way your mind works? Itâs not your wedding. It takestwo to make a marriage.â
âAll women think of their wedding day as mine. It is the one day thatweâre allowed to shine.â
âAnd the groom isâ¦what â just part of the decorations?â
âNow that you mention it â yes! The wedding day belongs chiefly to thebride. The groom has the wedding night. Everybody knows that.â The doors slidopen on the top floor and she danced into the hallway. Then she gave a turnthat made the dress balloon outward even further.
I stepped out too. She lifted both her arms and pointed down the longpassageway in both directions. âThereâs a bridal suite at both ends. We couldchoose the one we liked best. I guess they put them at the end so that theother guests donât get disturbed?â
âDisturbed?â
âBy the sounds of the honeymoon couple, silly!â
âAre you planning to make some noise?â
âBaby, Steve and I are gonna make some sweet music tonight!â
âThatâs the first positive thingIâve heard you say.â
She moved off down the passageway. âThis way! We chose the one at the endof this corridor to the left.â
At the last door, she removed a key card from between her cleavage thatwas hanging around her neck and passed it over a sensor unit on the wall. Thedoor lock clicked open and she went inside. She closed the door after Ientered.
My senses were suddenly bombarded by the excessive use of pink and frillydécor.
âIsnât it just too beautiful?â she asked waving a hand over the room. âIwould love my house to look just like this.â She placed the key card next to apink vase of pink flowers on a bureau before admiring herself in the mirror.âThat silly card thingyâs strap breaks the sensual nakedness between my titsand neck.â She cupped her breasts and gave then a hefty lift. âThatâs better!âShe turned to face me. âWhat do you think?â She gave them three more bouncesbefore lowering her hands.
âYou sure do love pink and frilly. Ironically, the only thing that ainâtpink around here is your virgin white frilly dress.â
âWell, it is my first time!â
âI seriously doubt that?â
âGetting married!â
âOh!â I glanced around some more. âIâm guessing that Steve didnât havemuch say in the choice of bridal suite?â
âThis is my day, remember?â
âBut the night belongs to Steve, remember?â
She put her nose in the air and said proudly, âSteve likes to make mehappy. He worships the ground I walk on.â
âSo that gives you the right to shit on that ground and rub his nose init?â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean? I love him dearly too. Heâs just a littlerigid in his ways. But Iâll change him.â
âThe old saying is so true.â
âWhat saying?â
ââA wife thinks she can change her husband, and a husband thinks his wifewill never change.ââ
âWell just you watch me.â
âWhatâs the first thing on your agenda? Convincing him to join a swingersclub?â
âOh, I love the way your mind works. I never knew you were soâ¦kinky.Steve may be a genius but heâs so damned stiff in the bedroom. And I certainlydonât mean that in a good way. You on the other handâ¦â
âThe man is a genius,â I corrected. âHeâs far cleverer than me.â
âThen how come youâre the guy with all the money, huh?â
âIs that how you measure success, by the thickness of a manâsâ¦wallet?â
âIâll be painfully honest with you here. Size matters honey. I look atthe bulge in the front and back.â
âI really need to go. Now!â
âBut you just got here. You havenât even seen the bedroom yet?â
âAnd I mean I need to see the bathroom!â
âOh, of course. Sorry! Silly me.â She pointed the way. âThrough there! Ijust love it too. Itâs so big and spacious and â¦â
âPink and frilly, Iâm guessing!â I made a hasty departure into thebathroom. Yep, the pink and frills were unrelenting as they continued into thebathroom. Even the spare roll of toilet paper was covered in a pink frillycrochet work that looked like a brideâs maid doll.
âThree star kitsch,â I mumbled to myself lifting the pink frilly lid ofthe toilet. I undid my zip and proceeded to close my eyes in bliss as thetension in my bladder eased. âAh, shit, yeah! That feels so good!â
âYou men!â said Nikki leaning against the frame of the bathroom door.âYou act like taking a pee is almost as good as sex.â
âHey?â I said irritated. Do you mind if I have a little privacy here?â
She gazed down at my member with an expression of indifference. âOh,please! I grew up in a house with four brothers. Thereâs nothing you got that Iainât seen already.â I knew that to stop the flow now would be uncomfortable, even painful. So I just kept going. After awhile she said, âSheesh, how manydrinks have you had?â
âNot nearly enough!â I quipped. âThatâs why I wanna get back to the partyas soon as possible.â
âIs that all you men can think about doing at parties.â
âWhat else is there?â I asked shaking off the last few dew drops from mylily.
âI can think of one,â she said smiling mischievously. âCome on! Shake aleg, cowboy. You gotta see this amazing bed in the other room.â
I zipped up. Dropped the seat cover. Flushed. Washed my hands and thendried them before saying, âLead the way.â
I wasnât surprised to find that the bedroom was pink and frilly. The bedwas enormous and oval-shaped. There were gold spiral columns evenly spacedalong the circumference.
I pointed at the columns. âI think they must have run out of pink paintat this point?â
Nikki threw herself backward onto the bed. âIsnât it just divine?â
âWhat it is - is pink!â
âOh, I think itâs so romantic.â
âI believe the word youâre looking for isâ¦tacky!â
âTacky?â
I pointed at the ceiling. âThe only thing missing is a mirror â upthere!â
âOoh, I do love the way your mind works. I would love to have a mirrorabove my bed. Wouldnât you like to watch yourself while you make love? Iwould.â After a short deliberation she placed her hands behind her head andasked, âDo you want to know what really turns me on?â
âReally? No?â
âIâll tell you. You wanna know why I did what I did at Club 501? I loveit when a man looks at my naked body and I can see the desireâ¦the lust burningin his eyes.â
âIâm sure Steve will be doing a lot of that in the future?â
She sat up. Her expression was one of having eaten something bad or sour.âItâs not gonna be the same anymore.â
âYeah, now that itâs legal it ainât so fun and exciting anymore, hey?â
âNo!â Then like a typical woman she changed her mind. âYeah,â she saidpushing out her bottom lip again. âYouâre right. Why are you always so damnedright?â
ââCause Iâm the boss, and the boss isâ¦â
âAlways right!â
âRight! Letâs get back to your party now. People are probably wonderingâ¦â
âDo you know what I always wanted to do? But now that Iâm married, Iâllnever have the chance. Steve is such a prude. So prim and proper. If he reallyloved me he would help me to fulfill my fantasies.â
âI donât know any men that would allow their wives to have two men atonce.â
âWhaâ¦? How did you know what myâ¦â
âI told you, âI know what youâre capable of.ââ
âWas! Not anymore! I wouldnât dream of doing it now!â
âSure?â I said and walked out the room.
âWait!â she shouted after me.
âWhat now?â
She pointed to a large, clear cellophane wrapped basket on the couch.âLook!â she said peeling away the wrapping. âThe hotel gave us a complimentarybasket of goodies.â She removed a large bottle of champagne. âWant to share itwith me?â
âThat privilege and honor belongs to Steve.â
âFuck Steve!â
âExactly! Thatâs what you need to do right after the champagne.â
âYou made all this possible!â
âThat doesnât mean that Steve wasnât capable ofâ¦â
âSteve told me about the check.â
âWhat check?â
âThe check for fifty thousand dollars.â
âI hope you both make good use of it.â
âI want to thank you.â
âMy pleasure.â
âNo! I want to thank you.â
âEh?â
âCan I give you a kiss?â
âIâ¦dunno?â
âCome on, all the guys get to kiss thebride. Weâll be killing two birds with one stone.â
âHowâs that?â
âYou get to kiss the bride, and I get to say thank you for all youâvedone for meâ¦us!â
âFine.â
âGreat!â she exclaimed. I held her at armâs length but she forced her wayforward. âStop being so damned cautious and afraid.â Then she grabbed my headwith both her huge hands and planted her lips solidly against mine. An instantlater her tongue was snaking around the inside of my mouth.
âWhoa,â I said pushing her away. âBehave yourself, Nikki.â
âOh, stop fretting. Havenât you ever been to one of those fairs where alady was selling kisses for a buck a hit?â
âYeah, but she never tried to tickle my tonsils while she was at it.â
âWell, thatâs the difference between a one dollar and a fifty thousanddollar kiss.â I shouldnât have grinned, but I couldnât help myself. âI dobelieve thatâs the first time Iâve seen you smile today, Mister Crane. It suitsyou. Thereâs hope for you yet.â
âI wish I could say the same about you.â
âUh-uh!â she scolded waving her finger under my nose. âDonât forget thatitâs bad luck to say bad things about the bride.â
âCome on! Letâs go!â
âOh, dear!â
âWhat?â
âI really do need to pee now.â
âIâll send Mel up.â
âDonât be silly. I can do this by myself. Donât go. It would be improperto let the bride wander about unescorted.â
âMove your arse then.â
She saluted. âYes sir!â Then she disappeared into the bathroom.
I read the card on the complimentary basket while she made a lot ofgrunts and groans in the bathroom. After a while I heard the muffled sound ofher tinkling. When it stopped I shouted, âShake a leg, cowgirl.â
There was a flushing sound followed by the basin taps running. A few secondslater she stood in the bathroom door and said, âHuston, we have a problem.â
âWhat now?â
She swung her garter around her finger. âIt faw down!â
âSo, put it back on?â
She scrunched up her face and whimpered. âNot so easy. Need help. Prettyplease.â
I grabbed it out of her hand. âWhich leg?â
âI forget. Doesnât matter. Anyone.â She kicked off her fancy shoes.âThatâll make it easier for you.â
âHow did it get past your shoes in the first place?â I put my hands underher dress and felt around till I found her foot. âLift!â I commanded.
âStop being soâ¦aloof. Get under there where you can see whatâs going on.â
âLift your foot!â
âNo! Get under there!â
âAlright then, dammit!â It took me some time to make my way into thecentre. I sat flat on my backside between her towering legs. The light wassubdued, but I could see clearly enough. I heard her laughing. I grumbled,âWhatâs so damned funny?â
âYour shoes are sticking out the front of my dress. It looks real crazy.
âYeah, I bet Steve would find it very amusing too? Lift!â
She lifted her left leg and I slipped the garter over her foot and placedit around her calf. âHowâs that?â
âDonât be silly. Itâll just fall down again. Put it above my knee!â
I moved it just above her knee. âAnd now?â
âNo, it needs to be higher! It still feels loose!â I moved it halfway upher thigh. She commanded, âHigher! As far as itâll go.â
âOâ¦kay! Your wish is my command.â By then, my pupils had dilatedsufficiently to see more clearly, and it was only at that moment that I noticedshe was missing an important item of clothing. âAh, shit! Nikki, you are sofuckingâ¦evil!â
âWhat?â She asked in a pretense of ignorant innocence. âWhatâs wrong?âIcould hear the smile in her voice.
âIt would seem that something else faw down around here. Did you forgetto put something back on after your pee?â
âNot at all! It feels so much better this way. Are you shocked?â
âIf it were anybody else, maybe. But not with you.â
âAnyhow, whoâs gonna know besides you and Steve what Iâm missing.â
âWhat youâre missing is scruples.â
âDonât worry yourself none, honey! I been taking my screw pills realregular like.â
I laughed. âI donât think Steve will be too happy if he ever found outthat I also knew why his blushing bride was blushing.â
âWhoâs gonna tell him?â
âNeither of us, I hope.â
âExactly! So stop fussinâ and get fixinââ
âYes, maâam!â I pushed the garter up as far as it would go. âThatâs it!It canât go any higher. Steve is gonna have a lot of fun trying to find it allthe way up there.â
âWhat about you?â
âEh?â
âI bet it was a lot of fun putting it all the way up there?â
âI canât say that I found the experience totally without pleasure. It iscertainly something that I will remember with a degree of fondness for the restof my life. Now I finally understand what Meatloaf was referring to when hesang, âI can see paradise by the dashboard light.ââ
âThank goodness for that. I was beginning to think you might be gay?â
âNo chance of that, my dear.â
âIn that case, remember what I said earlier? âI enjoy having men see mein the nude.ââ
âYeah, well I bet Iâm the first man to view you this way? Andâ¦my goodnessme!â
âWhat?â
âItâs just thatâ¦wellâ¦â I paused.
âWhat?â
âI gotta admit that Iâve seen Mexican Hairless Chihuahuas with moreâ¦â
âItâs called a bikini wax, silly!â
âI guess the person giving it got more than just a little carried away?â
âIt was all my idea. I was having the normal bikini-wax for thehoneymoon. Then I remembered that there may be the possibility for some skinnydipping; maybe the chance to get one of those all-over tans. Donât you justhate tan lines on a naked woman? So I decided to wax off the lot â everything!Stung like a bitch, but I think it was worth the pain! Smooth as a babyâs bumnow! What do you think?â
âThe important thing here is, what does Steve think?â
âHe hasnât seen it yet! I only had it done yesterday. It still itcheslike shit. Feels like a swarm of mosquitoes got under my dress and had a bingeparty up there. This is a beautiful dress butâ¦hell!â
âBut what?â
âYou know the saying? âNothing worse than having an itch you canâtscratch.â Itâs driving me up the goddamned wall. Taking off my panty helped abit, but not much. Shit, Iâd be very grateful if you could justâ¦â
âNot a snowballs chance in hell, Nikki!â
âWhatâs the big deal? You already seen it, so what difference is alittleâ¦â
âThereâs a sign up here that says, âLook, but donât touch!â
âShit! Steve must have changed it. Itâs supposed to say, âNice to lookat! Lovely to hold! If you break it, consider it sold!â
âWell I guess he musta broke and bought it then. Itâs all his now. Lock, stock and bikini wax!â
âPlease! Just a little around theâ¦â
âI said, âNo!â So stop your shit, okay.â
âOh, fine! Well then youâre more than welcome to stay there and admiremyâ¦itchings for as long as you like. Enjoy reveling in my suffering!â
âI appreciate the offer, but Iâve seen more than enough, thank you. Farmore than I had any right or intention to!â I crawled out from under her dress.âIsnât there one of those long back-scrubbers in the bathroom? You could usethat?â
âNo, thank you very much! The cleaning maid might have used it to cleanthe privy!â I must have looked a bit disheveled because she said, âShit! Justlook at you now? We canât have you giving any speeches looking like that. Whatwould the guests think?â
âProbably that Iâd been crawling around under the brideâs dress trying tofix her garter in place.â
We both laughed and then she pulled off my tie. âWhy is it that men wearties, but women know how to tie a knot better?â
âMaybe because you like to be tied up with them?â
âDid I tell you that I love the way your mind works?â She pushed me intothe bathroom and stood me in front of the large mirror. Then she moved behindme and proceeded to retie the knot. âMuch better,â she said as she slid theknot up towards my neck. âHaving four brothers has its advantages.â Then sheclicked her tongue and pulled at my shirt. âLook at this as well. Youârehanging out all over the show. You look like some forlorn street kid.â
She turned me round to face her and started to undo my belt. âWhoa,Bess!â I said holding her hands. âI can do this myself.â
âRelax!â she chided with such a harsh tone that I immediately releasedher hands. She loosened my belt and let my trousers fall to the ground. Thenshe proceeded to pull my shirt down around my waist. She pulled the front ofher dress forward and fell onto her knees. âHereâs the problem she saidpointing to the bottom of my shirt. Youâre missing a button. She lifted thebottoms of the shirt to the sides. âSee?â Then she added, âOoh, you better bemore careful with that, Tarzan. You could put out somebodyâs eye!â
I looked down. There was a bulge in the front of my briefs. I felt myface reddening. âUh-huh, well we canât do a damn thing about that now. Justtuck it in as best you can.â She laughed and I quickly added, âI donât like theway your mind works. I was referring to the shirt.â
âAnd I wasnât laughing about that,â she said squinting at the bulge infront of her nose.
âThen what?â I growled.
âWhy are you suddenly so aggressive? My God, youâre blushing. You haveabsolutely nothing to be ashamed of just because Johnny here got a littleexcited while you were checking out my Mexican Hairless Chihuahua. I told you Ilike turning men on. I feel⦠flattered.â
âWith you itâs more about power than pride!â
âWell, okay! Maybe a little of both!â
âSo, what was it that you found so amusing then?â
âYour hair! Itâs all over the place.â I looked into the mirror. She wasright, it was a mess. I started using my fingers to comb it straight again. Shepointed to a hairbrush in front of the mirror. âWe can save some time if youuse that to fix yourself up there while I fix you down here.â
I leaned forward and picked up the brush. For a moment I felt her hotbreath through the material. It excited me. âI hope the maid hasnât used it toclean the privy?â I said moving back quickly.
âDonât be silly! Itâs mine!â
âI thought you had yours waxed?â
She laughed before saying, âExperience has taught me many things!â
âYeah, like what?â
âWell, for one â itâs very difficult for a hard man to keep on playing athard-to-get.â
âYou think Iâve been playing hard-to-get with you?â
âUh-huh!â
âThatâs totally ridiculous!â
âIs it?â
âOf course!â
âWell, letâs test my little theory shall we!â
âAnd just how do you intend to do that?â
The whole time I had been watching my reflection while brushing my hair.
It happened so fast and unexpectedly that I never had time to voice asingle syllable in protest or appreciation. Her swift action had stunned bothmy body and its vocal functioning into a surprised state of inactivity. For thelongest time Nikki used my temporary condition to press her advantage to thefull.
In one swift motion she had pulled down my briefs and moved her headforward. I had felt the hot wetness of her enormous mouth envelope me, and Iknew instantly that this woman, who never took no for an answer, had finallygotten her way.
Men much stronger than me would have failed. Somewhere in the back of myhead I remembered a tagline from an old advertisement. I couldnât remember whatit was that was being advertised, but the saying went, âJust one bite and allresistance crumbles.â
I had believed I was strong, but Nikki had proven me wrong; very, verywrong!
The CEO of a multibillion dollar company was no more than a puppet. Andthis woman was having a field day pulling the strings.
Ironic that the one kneeling was the one wielding all the power.
I had thought myself to be Steveâs friend. I had never imagined itpossible that I could ever betray his trust. Especially not like this â neverlike this! I had believed that no woman would ever be able to make me deceivemy once true and only trusted friend. And yet, that reflection in the mirrorwas a blaring revelation of my serious miscalculation and delusion.
After some time I managed to regain some of my composure. I blinkedfrantically as I watched the back of her head in the mirror. It movedrhythmically with a calculated determination that only comes with muchexperience.
This woman was good at being bad! She knew it, and she also knew that Iknew it!
I eventually found the strength to mutter, âNot good, Nikki! This is notgood at all!â
She leaned back and smiled. âReally? Well thatâs not the idea youâregiving me down here. Your mouth says one thing but your bodyâs saying the exactopposite. She licked her top lip and added, âIâll stop if you want? Just saythe word and weâll get back to the party?â
âYou shameless bitch!â
âWhat? Donât tell me you still hate me afterâ¦â
âMore than ever!â
âIâll just have to keep trying to change that wonderful mind of yoursthen.â She moved forward again.
She knew that she had me by theshort and curlies â almost literally. She knew there would be no turning backfor me now.
A few more minutes later she leaned back again and smiled up at me. âIthought you knew what I was capable of?â
âYouâre right! This is way beyond my expectations of even you. Shit!Youâre barely married a few hours and look at what youâre doing? Have you noshame?â
âIâm just proving to you that my theory is correct!â
âFine, you made your point!â
âIâm not done yet! It gets evenbetter,â she said standing up. âIf you want to find out how, Iâll be waiting inthe bedroom. Iâll be continuing with the lesson over there!â She walked out ofthe bathroom.
âYouâre a shameless slut!â
âI just love it when a man talks dirty to me!â
I hung my head despondently. âWhat the hell am I doing? What have Igotten myself into here?â I asked myself. âThis is sooo wrong.â I pulled up mytrousers and stared at myself in the mirror. âWhat the hell are you doing? Youknow that woman is nothing but trouble. Get the hell out of here now!â Then athought crossed my mind. It seemed like a good, logical notion at the time. Ipointed at my reflection. âYou know darn well that this marriage wonât last a year.So you might as well make the best of an already gone-bad situation. âBetter tobe sorry for what youâve done than to be sorry for what you could have done.â
âThatâs a wonderful philosophy Mister Crane.
âI know.
âDid you think it up yourself?
âNo, I first heard it from Frankie Hollywood a long, long time ago.
âHe must have been a great guy? Very wise?
âActually he was a sleazy greaseball.
âAnd youâre not?
âOf course not! No?
âEven though youâre about to screw your best friendâs wifeâ¦on theirgoddamned wedding day?
âItâs complicated.
âWell, if you must - you must?
âI must!
âWonât you feel really bad after? Are a few moments of pleasure worth it?Didnât your granpappy warn you there would come a time like this? Didnât hegive you the best advice on what to do at a time like this?
âSome things are easier said than done! Besides, it makes no differencenow.
âOh?
âYeah, the damage has already been done. Thisâ¦thing (And Iâm notreferring to my thing) is already out there. I canât put it back now. Itâs muchtoo late already.
âThen make the most of it â enjoy yourself!
âI intend to! Yes siree, I surely intend to! Hoowhee!â
âWhat the hell kept you so long?â asked Nikki standing on top of the bedand holding onto one of the golden columns. âI almost thought youâd changedyour mind.â
For a moment she made me think of that old movie poster of The Attack ofthe 50 Foot Woman. I gazed up at her and said, âAlmost. I needed to have alittle pep talk with myself first.â
âWell, I know how to keep that mind of yours focused. Nurse Nikki has theperfect remedy.â She narrowed her eyes. âLie down!â
âYour wish is my command.â
âTrust me. Nurse Nikki knows best.â
I kicked off my shoes and lay down with my feet towards the pillows; myhead was just off the edge. She pulled down my trousers and briefs again beforestraddling me.
Once again I found myself beneath her wide, bloated dress. Only this timeit was my head that just protruded from the frilly edge. She laughed.
âYeah, I know. I look kinda crazy!â She smiled and nodded, so I said, âIcan imagine. I feel kinda crazy. I never done it with somebody in a weddingdress like this before.â
âYou know what they say, âThereâs a first time for everything.ââ Then shesmiled wickedly down from between her embroidered breasts. âNurse Nikki willnow demonstrate how to kill two birds with one stone.â
âHow so?â
âIâm gonna scratch an itch and take your temperature at the same time.â
âYeah? I donât see any thermometer?â
âThatâs because Iâm about to use yours. And baby, itâs about to getreally hot under there!â She lowered herself down and said, âTry to be apatient patient now. This is gonna be a bit tricky; not too unlike a blind manbobbing for an apple in a water-filled barrel. Itâs in there somewhere, butheâs just gotta keep bobbing away till he finds it.â She found it on her thirdbob, and we both expressed our pleasure in unison.
âIâm guessing that you suddenly regret your hasty decision to getmarried?â
âActually,â she said starting to shift herself rhythmically back andforth. âI think it was the best idea ever.â
âOh?â
She closed her eyes and had an expression of gastronomic ecstasy.âForbidden fruit always tastes far, far sweeter.â
âI was wrong about you. Youâre not evil at all.â
âOh?â
âNo, you just have ratherâ¦unconventional ideas about sex. You may not beevil, but that doesnât mean youâre right.â
âWhat then?â
âUh, well, to put it mildly â very mildly â naughty but nice!â
âExactly! Thatâs me, precisely! Steve doesnât understand me like you do âyet! I canât believe heâs almost ten years younger than you. Heâs still soold-fashioned. Itâs gonna take awhile, but Iâll eventually get his mind right. He just wants safe sex all the time.â
âSafe sex?â
âNot safe sex as in safe sex! I mean boring,â¦romantic love-making, dullbedroom sex. Thereâd be a lot less divorces if more married couples spiced uptheir life and got a bit more daring, a bit moreâ¦moreâ¦â
âKinky?â
âExactly!â
âLike the husband inviting his best friend over.â
âNot just that!â she said almost indifferently. âAnd Iâm not talkingabout all that other whip and leather stuff either. Iâm talking about making itexcitingâ¦dangerous. Having the possibility of being caught out?â
âBut surely, then again, that would mean not having your spouseâsconsent?â
âNo. No! I mean like joining the Mile-High Club or doing it on the subwayor in the changerooms of a clothing store orâ¦or the rest room in a busyshopping mall.â
âThatâ¦does have a certain amount ofâ¦charm, I guess.â
âOf course!â
âHave you mentioned it to Steve?â
âOf course! Well sort of. One night after we had both had a little toomuch wine, I decided to run it past him.â
âAnd?â
ââI dunno.ââ
âEh?â
âThatâs what he said, âI dunno. Maybe with enough wine and under theright circumstances. I couldnât say for certain. I really dunno.ââ
âDid you ever have the opportunity to test it out?â
âNot yet. But I got lotsa time now. Iâm sure thereâll be plenty wine andopportunities on our honeymoon. Oh, I canât thank you enough for the honeymoonas well. Iâve always wanted to go to the Keyes. I hope we get a chance to dosome of that skinny dipping I been going on about. Itâll be so great to get anall-over tan. It always looks so sexy and healthy. Actually, Iâve already had afew sessions on a tanning bed so I wonât burn sore when I eventually do getinto the sun. I canât wait! Knowing Steve, Iâll have to keep plenty wine onice. Maybe Iâll even get him to make love to me on the beach! I canât thank youenough!â
âI think you are.â
âI am what?â
âThanking me more than enough for the honeymoon.â
She smiled. âThen I guess this must be the most expensive screw you everhad?â
âApart from my two wives, yes!â
âI know you never been married.â She frowned. âWhy is that? A filthyrich, handsome guy like you?â
âI canât have kids.â
âThat wouldnât have bothered me at all. I wouldâ¦would have married you ina flash. I love your mind and I love your money!â
âYou must be the only honest woman I ever met. At least I know exactlywhere I standâ¦or lie with you.â
âYeah, I bet you and I would have made our mark in every rest roombetween here and the Keyes.â
âThere would still be two big problems if you and I had ever gottenmarried.â
âWhatâs that?â
âFirstly, I would no longer be the forbidden fruit.â
âA satisfied woman doesnât need to visit another manâs orchard.â
âSecondly, and most importantly, goodâ¦greatâ¦or even the best sex in thewhole wide world is not enough to keep a marriage together. After all, timewise, and even if the couples are highly active, and I do mean highly, their sexual activity would still take up far less than one per cent of marriedlife.â I repeated and stressed again, âYep, not even one per cent of marriedlife! That leaves a helluva lot of time for bitchinâ, arguing and all the rest;all the other wonderful things that go into making a happy marriage. Thingslike going out shopping on hubbyâs credit cards. I guarantee you that that isway above one percent. Hell, if more peopleâ¦if more men took that intoconsideration, thereâd be a lot less marriages, and therefore a lot lessdivorces as well.â
âWhy are you always the pessimist?â
âRealist!â I corrected.
âI did say that, âI love your mind,â as well.â
âWhether that was being honest remains a mystery. I know that women willsayâ¦and do anything to get their way. Especially those that can never take nofor an answer.â
âThatâs not being a realist. If that was true, then we would be married.âThen she smiled again and asked, âSo, how do you feel about me now? Do youstill detest me so much?â
âMaybe just one per cent less,â I said grunting in delight.
âWell letâs see if I can whittle away some more of thatâ¦hostility, shallwe?â She picked up the pace and I put my head back.
I closed my eyes in sheer bliss and smiled. âI am loath to admit that itseems to be working ratherâ¦splendidly.â
âLet me know when I reach a hundred per cent, okay?â
âYouâll know, alright. Trust me! Youâll know!â
âIâm looking forward with much eagerness to thatâ¦revelation. Just not toosoon, I hope? Not soon, you hear?â
âIâll do my very best, Nurse Nikki!â
I had only opened my eyes again about five minutes later. Nikki had criedout loudly, âOh, God! Oh, God!â At first I proudly thought that I had achievedmy goal of doing my very best, but then she added. âSteve? Oh, Steve!â
By my view, he was standing upside down in the bedroom doorway with anexpression of utter shock and rage.
Nikki was off of me in a flash, and I had pulled up my briefs andtrousers with equal swiftness.
I didnât know what to say. âSteveâ¦Steven, Iâ¦â The truth is that there isnothing you can say to a husband who has just witnessed another man screwinghis newlywed wife of less than four hours.â
I am almost certain that if he had a gun, he would have shot us both deadright there and then.
Still, I had experienced a sense of great dread and anxiety as he reachedinside his jacket.
But it was the check that he removed. Then, with an expression ofunbridled malevolence, slowly and methodically tore it up.
âNo!â cried Nikki, fool that she was, and started to pick up the piecesas they fell. âStop! Are you out of your fucking mind? Thatâs fifty thousanddollars youâre destroying!â
After the last piece had fallen and been gathered, Steven Matthew Ferranturned and walked off. He hadnât spoken a single word. And although there ismuch that a husband can say to the man who he has just witnessed screwing hisnewlywed wife of less than four hours, that action had said it all.
Loud and clear!!!
Nikki buried her face between a mass of pink frilly throw pillows on thefront couch and began to sob bitterly.
âIâll write you another check,â I said irritably.
She immediately stopped crying and looked at me with a puzzledexpression. âWhat did you say?â
âIâll write you another check - on one condition!â
âWhat?â
âFirst thing Monday morning I want your resignation on my desk. Mostprobably right next to Steveâs?â
âNo!â she lamented and started to cry again. âWhy?â
âBecause youâre like runaway freight train. You do things without anythought of the possible consequences. Sooner or later you have to run out oftrack. In fact, you just did!â
âItâs not fair!â
âWhat we did to Steve wasnât fair. Not even finding you in bed with twoguys can compare to this!â
âPlease, Iâm begging youâ¦â
âNo! I never wanted you at Global in the first place! Itâs so goddamnedironic. I did everything possible to keep you two apart.â I suddenly laughedloudly and scornfully. âI guess I finally managed to get it right, now!â
âYouâre right! Steve and I werenât ever meant to be together. Canât yousee it?â
âI donât believe it!â
âWhat?â
âYouâve just screwed up your marriage â literally. And you think you canrescue the situation byâ¦making moves on me?â
âI neverâ¦â
âItâs what you were thinking? Come on! Admit it? Letâs hear some of thatpainfully true honesty of yours?â
Surprisingly she obliged â in aces too!
âAlright, I admit it. Itâs you I likeâ¦love. Itâs always been you! I donâtknow why I chose to marry Steve? Maybe it was for security; maybe it was tostay close to you; maybe it was to make you jealous; maybe it was all of those.Whatever foolish notion it was, it wasnât because I loved him, or even becauseof good, great or best sex.
âHell, there are a billion women out there who would love to marry abillionaire. But thereâs only one whoâs honest enough to admit that the moneyâsimportant!â
âSo, if our roles were switched. If Steve was the boss, and I was theemployee â who would you want to marry?â
There was no hesitation in her reply. âSteve, of course!â Then shemanaged a weak smile. âBut itâd still be you that I really want to screw!â Shegazed towards the bedroom door. âI never did get you to a hundred percent. Thehorse is outta the stable. Hell, heâs over the hills and far away already. âAreyou game?â
âThere really is only one of you. And Iâm not referring to your uniqueUnikki physique.â
âCome on?â
âNo, goddammit!â
âWhy not?â
âIn case you hadnât noticed, I kinda had my mind changed.â
âAnd I know just how to change it back again.â
âIâm well aware of that, but I owe Steve. Thereâs nothing I could say ordo to make him forgive me â ever! The partyâs over, so Iâll at least have thedecency to tell the guests.â
âWhy? Itâs all paid for. Let them enjoy it while we enjoy it!â She winkedand nodded towards the bedroom.
âYou really are way beyond my estimations of what youâre capable ofdoing. Fortunately, I know my own limitations.â
âAre you sure about that. I can help you move the fence back a littleâ¦ora lot?â
âThatâs true. Today, I learned more about myself than I did about you.And I learned volumes about you.â
âDisappointed?â
I thought deeply for awhile. âThere have been other issues at stake heretoday. Matters of life and death â literally! Thatâs why I was so upsetearlier. I canât tell you the damage that you...weâve done. Itâs not yourfaultâ¦well, not entirely. You wouldnât understand. Letâs just say itâs strictlyconfidential.â
âI think I understand?â
âYeah?â
âSteveâs been working on another one of those top secret projects and nowyouâre expecting that heâll resign before itâs completed?â
âI couldnât have said it better.â
âNo wonder youâre firing my ass. I probably just cost Global its nextbillion?â
âIâll make a deal with you.â
âYeah?â
âIf Steve decides to stay at Global, then I want that sexy ass of yoursoff the premises for good? If he resigns â you can stay?â
âThat doesnât make any sense!â
âI donât want you around as a constant reminder to him.â
âIâll transfer to another department.â
âEither way, youâll be doing that.â
âNo! Not when I can have you all to myself.â
âExactly! I donât want you getting any further ideas about upsettingSteve â intentionally this time.â
âAnyway who says heâs gonna divorce me? Youâre very sure about futureevents?â
âYou have no idea, honey! Iâm hardly ever wrong about these things!â
âOh, yeah? You also got some fancy time machine at Global that nobodyknows about?â
âNah, but I got plans to build one. And if you screw up any more of myplans, youâll also find yourself out on that sexy ass of yours.â
She stood up from the couch. âYou wanna see that sexy ass?â Thatexpression of having eaten something bad or sour had returned as she looked ather reflection in the mirror. âI think I hate this dress now? Unzip me!â Iobliged and she let it fall to the ground. She stepped away from the giantfrilly flower that she had created on the floor and undid her bra. She let itfall and placed a foot up on the couch. Apart from the garter, she was totallynaked. âCan I use your cell?â
I tossed her my phone and she dialed a number. I heard a young womanâsvoice answer. Then Nikki said, âItâs me Mel!...Iâm still upstairs!...No, Iâmfine!...Steve?...Uh, yeah heâs here with me!...Donât be silly, why would he dothat? You know weâre staying here tonight?...No, he just went to park it in theparking bay! Heâs here with me, right now!...Why?...No, he just had too muchtoo fast! Iâm sure heâll be feeling better soon, especially with Nurse Nikkiâshealing touch!...No, weâre not!...Uh-uh, weâve decided to call it a day! Weâreretiring early! Thatâs why Iâm calling! I need you to tell everyone to have agood time, and that we decided to quit the festivities earlier than expected.Tell them Steve couldnât wait any longer!...The Best Man?...Uh, yeah, I know! But he had an important meeting. A big business deal that couldnâtwait!...Thatâs why Iâm asking you!...I know! But the meeting was more importantthan a silly old speech!...Donât use that language! Donât forget who paid foreverything?...Yeah, and so you should be!...Tell everyone we thank them forcoming and that under no circumstances are we to be disturbed. Not even if thehotel is burning down. Besides, we might be the ones who started the fire â ifyou get my meaning?...Thatâs more like it! Now go have some fun yourself. I sawa few good-looking single guys you can make some moves on!...Who?...Who?...Hewas much too old for you! Besides, I already told you heâs my property, sister! You keep your paws far away from my men, okay?...Listen, honey, havenât youheard that the ring doesnât close the hole!...Hey, you take that back, rightnow! Donât you know that itâs bad luck to say anything bad about the bride onher wedding day?...Well it is!...You too! And like I always say, âIf you canâtbe goodââ¦yeah, thatâs right, honeyâ¦âbe good at it!â...I love you too! Bye!âNikki pushed End Call and looked at me. âSee, all fixed up! Oh, by the way,Steve left.â
âYeah, I gathered that.â
âShe says it looked as though he was ready to spit bullets!â
âCanât blame him!â
âBut you canât!â
âCanât what?â
âLeave! I told Mel you already left for an important meeting. If she seesyou now, she might put two and two together.â
âA foursome? Sheâs more kinky than you! No wonder the two of you are suchgood friends!â
âYou know what I meant. You stay far away from her. And I donât just meantonight!â
âIs that a bit of the green-eyed monster peeping out?â
âYou stay the fuck away from her, you hear me?â
âSince when did the big boss become your sole property and sex slave?â
âYou wish! Donât flatter yourself!â
âAh, I see!â
âSee what?â
âIf itâs not me then it must beâ¦â I paused.
âMust be what?â
âAre you and Melâ¦?â I crossed my fingers and waved them about.
âDoes that shock you?â
âHell, no!â Hey, youâve still got my phone there. âPush redial and getthat little minx up here, now!â
âI already told you to stay the hell away from her! Besides she hatesyour guts for leaving the party so early when you were supposed to give aspeech!â
âCome on? Life is all about give and take! And you just want to take allthe time!â
âI said, âNo!â I donât want you near Mel, not now â not ever! Have I mademyself clear? What I do want right now is - you near me!â
âRelax! I was just pulling that sexy leg of yours.â
âYeah?â she said moving her feet far apart and gazing down at herwell-shaped legs. âSo, which is the sexy one, then?â
âI would think that was obvious? Even if that garter is way too high!â
âWhy donât you come andâ¦readjust it?â She pitched my phone back at me,and I caught it. Then she added, âWith your teeth!â
âI love the way your mind works!â
âI know!â She slinked off towards the bedroom. âWell, if youâre leavinguse the service elevator and entrance! But if you change your mind â again! Youknow where to find me. This is all paid for! Itâll be a sin to waste it!â
She was busy fluffing a pink frilly pillow when I popped the cork.
She jerked round. âGod, you nearly gave me a heart attack! I almostthought Steve was back with a gun.â
âShit!â I exclaimed watching the froth and pink liquid running over myhand. âYou really do love pink!â
âStop wasting the stuff and time!â She said stretching out her largeframe sensually over the right-hand side of the bed and raising one knee to theside. She patted the open space beside her. âWho would have imagined the daywould end like this? And I thought it was gonna be just a dull old romantic, wham bam, thank you, maâam screw with Steve - again.â
I smiled impishly. âAgain? You mean the two of you have alreadyâ¦no? Iâmshocked speechless!â
âStop your shit, and get over here!â
âI need a drink to soothe my nerves!â I kept my eye on her Chihuahuawhilst taking a long draft straight out the bottle.
âMen!â she reprimanded sternly and pointed to the large dresser. âTheglasses are over there on the bureau!â
âThese?â I asked picking up the two long flutes and tossing them into thedecorative fireplace.â
âThat was veryâ¦Russian of you. But arenât you supposed to do that afterfinishing your drink? Now what are we gonna use? Donât tell me youâre planningon using one of my shoes?â
I put on my best Russian accent. âNadia, my love, if men were meant todrink champagne out of glasses or shoes, then why did God give women navels?â
Her accent was better than mine. âOoh, Boris, baby, have I ever mentionedthat I love the way your mind works?â
âNever, but now would be a very good time to start,â I said pouringmyself a drink. I watched the pink liquid foam and bubble.â
âThat tickles!â she giggled. Then I purposely poured too much and watchedas it snaked its way downward. âOo-whee!â
âQuickly, cross your legs.â She obeyed and I watched as a pink bubblingpool formed over her bikini-waxed paradise. âHmm, maybe pink ainât such a badcolor after all!â
âThat feels kindaâ¦hmmmâ¦ooohâ¦thereâs a slight burning sensation, but Ithink I like it. Oh, my itâs veryâ¦â
âThink?â
âI love it!â
âIâm afraid your garter is now stained with a different shade of pink.â
âYour garter!â she corrected. âI want you to have it now.â
âA little keepsake for dear old Cornelius?â
âYep!â
âIâll put it around my bedside table lamp.â
âPromise?â
âWhat I do promise is this. Do not be concerning yourself too much aboutthis clumsy spillage. I promise to remove every last drop.â
âOh, yeah? You gonna licky sticky Nikki quicky?
âOh, yeah. But not too quicky! Youâll just have to be patient. This isgonna be not too unlike a blind man bobbing for apples in a water-filledbarrel. I know where they are. I know where to find them. Itâs just a matter oftime to find them all.â
âWell, you just bob away for as long as you like. Take all the time youneed, cowboy. Iâm in no hurry at all. This ainât over till the fat lady sings.I donât want the hotel to think they made a mistake putting their bridal suiteat the end of the corridor. I wanna, at the least, disturb a few gueststonight.â
âI think weâve disturbed more than enough for today!â
âNo way, Jose! I told you I was gonna make music tonight, and Iâm turningthe amps all the way up to eleven.â She narrowed her eyes at me. âI donât thinkyouâre the type that prefers a frigid mute in the bedroom? No, you wanna showthe neighbors you know how to give a gal a good time. So get bobbinâ already. There are apples to be found.â
âI intend to, babe. I made a promise. Every last one!â
âHmm, one canât help but ask, âHowâs them apples, buster?ââ
âBabe, on any given day of the week this is gonna beat, hands down, drinking it out of your shoe.â
This morning we had breakfast sent up.
The hotel waiter had given me some strange looks.
I wasnât sure if it was because of the level eleven noises or the factthat the groom had undergone a radical physical change?
Anyhow, he seemed to relax after I slipped him a $50 gratuity.
I was getting dressed when Nikki asked, âWill I see you tomorrow?â Hermoon shell had turned into an octopus; she peered droopy-eyed at me frombetween the drooping tentacles.
âNope.â
âWhy not? Are you still planning on firing my ass?â
âWeâll talk when you get back.â
âBack?â
âFrom the Keyes.â
âWhat?â
âItâll also be a sin to waste that. Itâs also all paid for, remember?â
âOf course, I just thought thatâ¦â She suddenly beamed, âAre you comingalong?â
âNah, I got stuff to take care of. You go have a good time. Get thatall-over tan you been going on about.â
âBy myself? Thatâs gonna be so lonely?â
âKnowing you, I donât think youâll spend a single night on yourlonesome.â We both laughed. âGo on! Have some fun! If Steveâs not waiting foryou when you get back â your job will be.â
She hugged me. âYouâre a great guy, Corn! Shit, all that money wasted.Your best friend hates you, and you stillâ¦Youâre the best!â
âWhat I probably amâ¦is dead?â
âBah, Steve would never do anything so drastic.â
âI know! Itâs what he was supposed to do that could mean my end.â
âThat doesnât make any sense?â
âItâsâ¦complicated.â
âWhatever Steve was supposed to do for you, Iâll make it up to you.â
âHoney, no amount of good, great or even the best sex, will ever be ableto make it up.â
She smiled. âCan I at least try?â
âWeâll talk when you get back.â
On the way out I made a brief stop in the bathroom.
I had looked at myself in thelarge mirror and lamented, âSorry gramps! I just screwed up real bad - again. When it comes to women, I just never seem to learn. Yep, once again womenâ¦awoman has managed to screw up my life real good â literally and figuratively.â
My gifts were meant to be a lever to get Stevenâs approval andfriendship. Instead, they only encouraged the wrong party to take a larger andinappropriate interest in me.
In so doing, I have lost Stevenâs trust and friendship forever.
The implications are phenomenally tragic.
As I mentioned in the beginning, âMy foolishness may well have cost me mylife.â Without Steveâs input, what are the chances of me now building a proper, functioning Consciousness Projector on my own?
Only Time will tell!!!
