Chapter 1196 Under the unpredictable wrath of Cecilia, Susan hurriedly fled the office. Shortly afterward, Cecilia received an anonymous call.
The caller said, âWe did as you asked and found an underground organization. Why didnât you mention they were associated with the Jent family? Now weâve offended them, which means weâve offended Mr. Jardin of the Jardin Corporation. If he seeks retribution, we have no way out. Youâre pushing us into a pit of fire!â
Cecilia was indifferent to their plight. âWhere are the items I asked for? Why havenât you found them yet?â
The items you want? Weâve turned the place upside down and found nothing. Weâre going to lay low for a while. You should find someone else for your tasks,â the caller said before hurriedly ending the call.
âA bunch of useless fools,â Cecilia muttered, scattering the documents on her desk in frustration. Her face twisted in malevolence. âZach, you brought in Fredâs people to protect M and that adopted child. Donât think this will stop me. Just wait, lâi make sure both Madelynâs belongings and that child are destro leaving no trace.â
âKnowing Zach, he mustâve prepared the documents beforehand, transferring all his assets to Madelyn. I canât let that happen, not after all my painstaking efforts. I canât let my plans fall apart. If anyone is to blame, itâs not me for being ruthless,â Cecilia thought.
Meanwhile, Blake was restless at home, feeling increasingly uneasy as the evening progressed. Even when night fell, Kevin still had not returned.
Hearing a knock on the door, she wondered, âIs that him?â
She rose from the couch and stood in the dark living room, hesitating at the door. Then she remembered Kevinâs warning, âDonât turn on the lights or answer the door if Iâm not back. If someone claims itâs about me, ignore them. If I donât return by morning, call the police and ask to be taken to Southern Haven Villas. Fredâs men will protect you there.
Stay inside if you notice anyone following you. Iâll come get you once I finish handling the matter.â
Peering through the peephole, Blake saw two men dressed like plumbers in the hallway. But their menacing eyes gave them away. Blake believed they were not here with good intentions.
Blake covered her mouth to stifle any sound. She leaned against the wall in the silent darkness, her heart pounding wildly.
One of the men outside remarked, âMaybe thereâs no one home.â
âThatâs impossible. Iâve been watching all day. Sheâs definitely inside âLetâs pick the lock and check.â
