Emergency news spread quickly throughout the entire land of the Khalodian Empire. People who first thought of it as a drill began to grow in fear. The empireâs capital had become empty and people began to leave for their homes.
âWhat is going on?â
Reporter Benjamin Roden, who worked for one of the best newspaper companies in Khalodian, the Brixon Times, seemed to be worried.
âI donât know! But there is a war going on! The government is announcing the marshall law! It means it is a big war, my friend.â
Raul was a friend and a rival but while Benjamin became grim, Raul didnât seem to be that worried.
âWell, I supposeâ¦â
It was easy to see why Raul wasnât worried. They were talking about the Khalodian Empire that was led by the legendary War-God himself.
âEverything seems to be falling in accordance with the war-prep manual though.â
âYeah, itâs amazing.â
Benjamin nodded at Raulâs words. Everyone had returned to their homes already. They were now waiting for the governmentâs official announcements.
âWho are we fighting anyway?â Raul asked curiously.
âRaul, I know we will win, but shouldnât you be more serious about this? This is a war weâre talking about.â
âI know! I mean⦠yeah, Iâm sorry. But itâs just too foolish! Why would anyone want to wage a war against us? Donât you think so?â
Thatâs when reporters from another company, Berend Daily, came over. They were all gathering up to share any information they had between them.
âHey! Anyone know whatâs going on?â
âThereâs a war⦠right?â
âThatâs all you know?â
Reporters began speaking when a middle aged reporter named Jon spoke out.
âI actually do have somethingâ¦â
âShit, Jon! Come on! Spit it out!â
âIâll buy you a beer!â
ââ¦Itâs at the Gate. The warâs at the Gate.â
âWhat?!â
âNo way!â
Everyone was shocked. The Gate was the center of trading now. It was only for a short time of 1 year, but the profit coming in from the Gate Trade was enormous.
âBut how? That place is filled with the strongest army of the Empire! No one can dare to start a war there!â
âThat canât be true. Thereâs no one left who can wage war against Khalodianâs strongest army.â
Jon shook his head but couldnât say it out aloud. He couldnât even believe the information he heard.
âBut an alien speciesâ¦? Can it be true?â
He couldnât say it because he himself couldnât believe it. Thatâs when an official from the government began to go up on the stage at the city square. The announcement was going to be made.
âCitizens of the Empire. Our Empire is being attacked by an unexpected enemy from the new dimensional Gate which has opened in multiple areas. We are declaring war against these invaders andâ¦â
Everyone became dumbfounded at the announcement.
