Chapter 343 - Beginning of new beginning

“What? Father, did you just say our kingdom is gone?” A soldier in his mid-30s asked back to his father.

“Yes. It’s gone. It’s been 3 years since our kingdom was absorbed into the Empire. All the other kingdoms did except for a few.”

The old man answered his son. His son seemed bitter but also glad about what happened. He was a young man when he first joined the Khalodian Expedition to Earth. But now, he was a much older man.

“It’s better that way.”

“It’s… what?”

“Yes. Those nobles from the Alliance were all killed on the other side anyway. There are no more of them, and I’m sure the announcement will come soon. But not much will care about them anymore now.”

Gluck became surprised.

“D…does she fly?”

Chris nodded.

“My daughter is too young, but I think she’ll fly once she gets old enough.”

“Where are they? Why don’t you show them to me?”

“Is… is it okay?”

“Of course! The Khalodian Empire promotes interracial marriage. Of course, you probably didn’t know that.”

Chris then quickly ran to get his wife and daughter. Soon, he returned with a black-haired woman by his side.

“H…hello. I’m Kim Sooryun.”

Gluck became surprised. The black hair and black eyes were traits of people from the Emperor’s homeland.

“Are you from the Emperor’s…?”

“Yes, Father. She’s from the same country as His Majesty.”

“I see!”

Gluck then saw two large wings on Sooryun’s back and saw the baby in her arms.

“Wow… she… she’s beautiful! C-can I hold her?”

Gluck asked and Sooryun handed over the baby to her father-in-law.

“W-what’s her name?”

Chris smiled.

“We nicknamed her Flappy for now. She doesn’t have an official name yet. Can you name her?”

“M-me?”

“Yes, Father. Please.”

Sooryun also spoke. Gluck seemed to be very glad. He then looked down at his granddaughter again.

As this went on, similar happenings happened all over the Empire with the return of people from Earth.
