Khalodian Mountain was in chaos as all kinds of movements and sounds filled the area. It was made by the Magnos Siege Team. With the help of machines that Joonbum provided, they were now creating more walls and traps to fight the monsters. Also, Durans and various Krakuns had been brought in to help with the construction.
âTraps should be deeper!â
âStop talking and move!â
However, they werenât the only noise source. In between the newly set traps, the number of monsters coming through the Gate had increased even more. They were now trying hard to fight across the traps.
âDammit.â
âItâs sickening.â
The monsters were even more vicious and were adapting to the hostile environment with no problems.
âThey eat their own like itâs nothing.â
âThey survive by eating their corpsesâ¦â
The Ainos sighed in shock. Joonbum had warned them of such an event for a long time but most Ainos had just considered it a slight possibility.
âWe shouldâve been better prepared.â
âBut with the Magnos helping, it has gotten much better.â
âYeah, those catapults are great.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
About thirty catapults fired boulders into the skies, showering the Gate area. The heads and bones of the monsters were crushed. With the arrival of the Magnos, new traps and walls were built.
âThey donât stand a chance!â
Everyone turned to the monsters. It had been terrifying when the monsters first came through the Gate. But now, they were dead on the ground with giant eight-foot stakes jutting out from their bodies.
âMagnos steel is so powerful.â
âYeah, itâs supposed to kill Krakuns.â
With the help of the Magnos, the situation was overturned and it was much easier to deal with.
âItâs beyond imagination.â
âWhat did I say?â
Doral nodded at Joonbumâs comment. At that moment, a Magnos catapult launched a huge jar with a long cloth attached to it. The cloth was lit with fire just before it was released.
As the jar fell and broke open, it seemed like the fires of hell had broken loose. Monsters screamed in pain and agony as the fire spread all over them.
âItâs terrible.â
âYes, but we have to do it.â
âRight.â
Doral nodded at Joonbumâs words and watchdd. The fire burned all the monsters alive and a terrible stench filled the area.
âI hope it ends here,â Doral said. Joonbum also wished for that, but he instantly frowned as more monsters began running out from the Gate. The area was filled with fire, but the monsters did not hesitate to jump out and began writhing in agony as the fire burned them alive.
âMore incoming!â
âThey are mad!â
It was as if they were moths flying into a fire.
âTheyâre being chased!â Doral shouted. It instantly resolved everyoneâs question. The only reason why the monsters were running out of the Gate even with the fire was because they were being chased.
âWho is chasing them?â
Those monsters were powerful beings. Joonbum could not believe there would be a being that could drive away such powerful monsters.
âF-Fireâ¦â
âItâs been put out!â
As more monsters jumped out, the fire eventually lost and was put out.
The Ainos and the Magnos renewed their attacks with arrows and catapults, but the number of monsters was endless.
âSir, all the people have successfully evacuated to the Magnos fortress. They will then move to Khalodian Capital as soon as itâs ready. We have a message that Sir Jackson has entered the mountain with a million troops. Also, it seems the monsters like the Keroxes are behaving erratically.â
Doral asked back, âErratic?â
âYes, sir. The monsters are forming groups. Even the ones that normally only form groups in winter are grouping up now.â
âThat would make it hard to feed themselves.â
Doral mused but he could not think of a reason.
âDo they sense this situation too?â
Doral wondered. Maybe the native monsters in the mountain were feeling an imminent threat.
