Chapter 729

Thaddeus and Evadne exchanged a look of shock.

"What did this guy look like? Do you remember?" Evadne pressed on.

"Of course."

Lily's brow furrowed deeply, "He was quite handsome."

Thaddeus and Evadne were speechless. They certainly hadn't expected that particular detail.

"I'm not joking. The guy was really good-looking, the kind of face you don't forget."

"Anything else? Any other distinguishing features?" Evadne prodded, unwilling to let it go.

"He looked a little familiar, like I've seen him somewhere before."

Lily pounded her forehead with her fist, trying to force herself to remember more. Evadne quickly stepped forward, catching her wrist gently, "It's okay;

it's okay if you can't remember. Don't hurt yourself."

Lily looked at Evadne steadily. Suddenly, her eyes lit up, "I remember now, he looked a bit like Aaron!"

Evadne was taken aback, "Ah? Well, he must look good then."

Thaddeus remained silent. Was this really the time to be discussing looks?

Lily's trembling hand rested on her injured leg, still shaken, "That assassin must have been through some brutal combat training. His skills could match some of the mercenaries abroad.

I don't think Gary has the resources to find someone that skilled, but if it wasn't Gary pulling the strings, then how did that man get into the heavily secured Fairhaven Group premises and into the safe room that only Barry knew about?"

"It must have been an inside job at the Fairhaven Group." Thaddeus' eyes darkened, "Gary is one of them, and maybe Barry is lurking in the shadows."

Evadne felt a chill down her spine, her eyes reddening. The whole Fairhaven Group, from top to bottom, wanted to ruin Marilla, they were all her enemies!

She couldn't tell if they despised Marilla for being different, or if they couldn't stand to see Jareth happy.

"Mr. Abernathy, Ms. Ashbourne, I ask you for just one thing."

Lily, her body wracked with too much pain, quivered, holding back tears, "Please, help Mr. Fairhaven and his wife. Don't let them be separated. He can't live without her."

Evadne moved to support her, fearing she might collapse.

In truth, she had never considered separating them. To Evadne, Marilla was as dear to her, as important as her own sister, Nydia. It was her protective instinct as family that made her lash out at Jareth.

Had she not been stern, would Jareth understand the gravity of the situation? If this happened again, Marilla might not survive!

"Lily, we will do our best to persuade grandpa. But for the Fairhaven Group, Jareth needs to resolve it himself soon. This isn't just for Marilla's sake, but also to show grandpa his sincerity."

Thaddeus spoke earnestly, "Only then can we convince grandpa. Otherwise, even if we wanted to help, we wouldn't know where to start."

"Thank you, Mr. Abernathy," Lily said gratefully.

"Lily, when you get back, check your room carefully. If possible, try to collect the man's fingerprints."

Evadne made up her mind, "I'll pass the fingerprints to my brother Aaron. He's a cop and can ask his tech colleagues to look for any information related to that man. If he's a professional hitman, this won't be his first offense. These types of criminals don't bother cleaning up the crime scene, so his prints should be in the database. Once they're compared, we should be able to identify him."

Glynnis drove alone to the Rainbow Club on time. It was a spa resort with sky-high prices and a membership system, making it usually quite empty.

Tonight, it was as if the place had been cleared out, the large hall deserted. As Glynnis stepped through the entrance, a secretary-looking person approached her.

"Excuse me, are you Ms. Glynnis Abernathy?"

"And you are?" Glynnis gazed at him, not recognizing him as one of Edith's usual entourage.

"Ms. Edith Fairhaven sent me to fetch you. Please follow me."

After a short walk, Glynnis was led to a door.

"Ms. Fairhaven is inside. Please go on in," the secretary said before leaving.

She pushed open the door and was met with a wave of heat and steam. Following the sound of running water, Glynnis could faintly hear a woman's moans wafting over.

Her heart clenched, and she swallowed hard before pushing open the partially closed door. Through the misty haze of steam, she saw the naked back of Edith, pinned against the rocks, with a man gripping her waist in a frenzied pace.

"Ah!" Glynnis screamed in shock, her scalp tingling.

The man stiffened, halted his charge, and turned around abruptly. Glynnis's mouth fell open as she recognized Alston's face.

Edith laughed seductively, panting softly, her delicate arms casually wrapped around Alston's neck.

"Don't stop, keep going."
