Chapter 230

The room fell into a dead silence, then exploded with deafening gasps.

"Alea... Evadne is Alea?"

Thaddeus' mind buzzed, blanking for a few seconds, as if his very soul beneath his skin was shivering, rippling, eventually shattered into fragments suspended in outer space. His whole body felt light and his limbs powerless.

Evadne was Alea.

She was the revered legend of the jewelry industry!

So, all this time, she had been watching him make a fool of himself. Watching him go to great lengths to meet Alea, only to be turned down time and time again. She must have found it hilarious!

Thaddeus was panting heavily, his lips trembling. His eyes were blazing with fury or shock, he couldn't tell which was stronger.

"Evadne... you've tricked me again... you've actually tricked me again!"

She had an unparalleled talent, yet she hid it from him perfectly.

Throughout their three years of marriage, she had shed her legendary persona and quietly stood by his side, fulfilling duties of a typical housewife...

Why would she demean herself like this? Was this her way of mocking his ignorance?

Thaddeus clenched his teeth, his heart aching as he covered the left side of his chest.

He thought, "Is this amusing to you, Evadne? You have never been honest with me. How dare you hope that I might fall in love with you?"

"Alea? Miss Ashbourne is Alea? This is groundbreaking news!"

"It can't be fake, can it?"

"The diamond necklace could be a fake, but the person can't be! Liva is here, it's all genuine! It can't be fake anymore!"

The room, usually filled with dignified individuals, was now a frenzy. They whipped out their phones, snapping photos of Evadne.

This was the real, up-close-and-personal Alea. They had to take as many photos as possible to show off later. Otherwise, what was the point of being here tonight?

Avery watched Evadne, surrounded and adored like a star in the sky, a smile playing on his lips.

No other woman could give him such a thrill, except for Evadne.

And only Evadne made him feel that love, as an act, was not so dull and ridiculous.

The scene was getting out of hand.

In an effort to get closer to the goddess, the crowd around Evadne was getting tighter.

Avery frowned, sensing danger. He rose, intending to help her.

Suddenly, a cold gust of wind blew past him. He glanced sideways and saw Thaddeus rushing forward, pushing through the crowd and forcing his way in.

He clenched his fist, his eyes sharp as a hawk's. He wished he could tear Thaddeus apart.

Seeing Thaddeus appear out of nowhere to block the crowd for her, Evadne was taken aback.

"What are you doing?" she asked icily.

"There are too many people, I was worried you might be in danger," Thaddeus answered casually, his back still to her.

"Jason is right behind me, and the security at K Orld Hotel is top-notch. They can handle this little chaos. You don't need to play the hero here."

Evadne scoffed, not impressed by his act of chivalry.

"Evadne, you've tricked me again."

Thaddeus slowly turned to look at her, his eyes heavy, his voice trembling so only they could hear, "Do you have anything to say about your deceit?"

Evadne laughed with a mocking gleam in her eyes, "You must be feeling pretty bitter about being tricked by me. Don't worry, you'll get used to it."

Thaddeus took a deep breath, suppressing a cough.

She had infuriated him.

The chaos finally began to subside when Jason dispatched a team of security officers to maintain order.

"Oh my god... you're Alea... how could you be..."

Ada approached Evadne, covering her mouth, her eyes welling up with tears in disbelief.

"I didn't intentionally hide my identity. These titles are nothing more than worldly possessions to me. I simply have a love for designing jewelry and don't wish to be in the limelight."

Evadne's attitude towards Ada remained as gentle as ever, "I know you appreciate my work and I'm honored to have your admiration."

Her grace and charm were amazing!

"I'm sorry... Miss Eva... no, Miss Alea. Please forgive my past indiscretions."

Ada was filled with regret, her throat bitter. Recalling her previous cold words and dismissive attitude towards Evadne, she wished she could pluck out her own eyes in penance!

What was this if not failing to recognize a true gem?

"I am Alea, and also the general manager of K Orld Hotel. My other identity doesn't excuse the hotel's failure in maintaining confidentiality. I have never blamed you, and you need not blame yourself."

At this moment, Evadne was like a mirror.

It was time for Elspeth and her daughter to reveal their true colors.

"'Whispering Waters Jewels' is one of our lesser-known pieces of Alea's private collection, rarely ever displayed publicly. Aside from Alea, no one else in the world owns it."

Liva's sharp gaze bore into Glynnis, "So there's no doubt, the necklace Glynnis gifted to Ada is a counterfeit.

Daring to imitate one of Alea's works is a severe infringement on Alea's rights and creative property. Every piece of Alea's work is heavily insured.

The consequences and penalties you'll face, Ms. Glynnis, you should be well aware of, seeing as you're no stranger to the law."
