Jareth stepped out of the room, not in a hurry to leave. Instead, he began to wander around the Abernathy mansion.
His actions seemed casual, but he had ulterior motives.
He was hoping to see that little girl with the droopy head and sad appearance.
He never claimed to be a good person.
But the pitiful little girl could always stir his soft spot.
"Mr. Jareth? What brings you here?" Alva happened to bump into him, walking over with a surprised look on her face.
"Ah, um." Jareth's expression was a bit awkward. He stammered and gathered his courage to ask in a low voice, "Alva, where does Marilla stay?"
Alva looked at him in surprise.
Even with a brain, she couldn't associate the man in front of her with the young lady.
"What do you want to do? Mr. Jareth, Marilla is still a minor and rarely sees strangers. You must not scare her!"
Jareth raised his eyebrows, "Alva, you've watched me and Thad grow up. Don't you know what kind of person I am?"
"You are absolutely good to our young master." Alva gave a thumbs-up.
"But for women, you can only be this." Alva pointed her thumb down.
Jareth held his forehead.
After a lot of persuasion and whitewashing of his playboy image, Alva reluctantly took him to see Marilla.
"I'll wait at the door. Say what you want to say quickly. It's not good to be seen by others." Alva stood at the door, solemnly instructing him.
Jareth couldn't help but laugh, "Alva, you're not a matchmaker, and I'm not a playboy. You don't need to be so nervous."
Having said that, he strode into the room and closed the door.
Alva was stunned for a moment, and then she came back to her senses, her eyes wide with anger, "This stinky boy! How dare he mock me?"
As soon as Jareth walked into Marilla's room, he was taken aback.
Compared to his sister's extravagant princess room, Marilla's room seemed too simple. Apart from the basic decoration and furniture of the mansion, there were no decorations. It was as empty as a snow cave.
Jareth heard some movement in the bedroom, so he slowed down and tiptoed towards the room.
The door was slightly ajar, and he entered silently.
He saw Marilla's slender figure sitting at the large desk, hunched over and seemingly writing something.
Jareth's eyes deepened a bit, and he quietly walked behind her, craning his neck to peek at what she was writing.
Suddenly, his heart trembled violently, and his pupils contracted.
Marilla was seriously drawing on the paper, and the person in the picture was him!
Marilla put down her pen, her deer-like eyes bent, and she picked up the drawing to admire.
"When do you plan to give it to me?"
"Ah!" Marilla let out a scream, jumped up from the chair, and tried to cover the drawing but it was too late.
Jareth was quick and sly. He directly pulled the drawing from under her thin arm.
"Give it back to me!" Marilla's cheeks flushed. She stood on her toes and reached out to grab it.
The man's tall figure was like an insurmountable mountain for her. In her embarrassment, she directly grabbed his tie with one hand and reached around his waist with the other to snatch the drawing.
"Let go, I'm choking!"
Jareth could hardly breathe. He had no choice but to bend down, pick Marilla up by her thin waist, put her on the table, and relieve a bit of the suffocating pain.
"Give it back to me! That's my drawing!" Marilla's clear eyes were filled with stubbornness.
"The person in the drawing is me. Logically speaking, you've infringed on my portrait rights, haven't you?"
Jareth looked into her eyes, his gaze gradually warming, "As compensation, will you give this drawing to me, Marilla?"
Marilla's face turned red with shyness, she grabbed the man's tie and pulled hard.
Jareth suddenly widened his eyes, his body surging forward, pressing Marilla tightly under him.
Their lips were only a hair's breadth away from merging into one.
The lingering kisses from last night resurfaced, and he suddenly felt a burning sensation in his lower abdomen.
"Eh. ticklish."
Marilla quickly turned her face away, the man's breath with a hint of tobacco smell made her feel ticklish.
Her heart was pounding.
Jareth felt a bit dizzy. The girl's body was so soft, softer than his mattress.
It made him reluctant to leave.
Jareth used all his strength to suppress the wildfire in his body, straightened his waist, and stood upright.
His eyes were moist, and his breathing became heavy.
Although Marilla was of age, she was born small and thin. Curled up on the table, she looked pitiful.
She buried half of her face between her knees and reached out to the man, "Give it back to me."
"I saved your teddy bear last night. As a thank-you gift, can't you even give me a drawing?"
Jareth's solid arm rested on the edge of the table, and he leaned slightly towards her, "I really like this drawing, will you give it to me?"
"I've already prepared a gift for you." Marilla's voice was timid, her toes curled up.
"Where is it?" Jareth's eyes lit up.
Ten minutes later, Jareth returned to his car.
He was holding a cake box in his left hand and the rolled-up portrait in his right hand. The corners of his lips kept rising, his heart was filled with unprecedented satisfaction.
Actually, as early as at Hamiltion's birthday party, when he saw the painting that Marilla gave to her grandfather, he secretly wished that he could also get such a painting.
A unique painting created just for him.
Unexpectedly, he really got it.
The joy and the sense of happiness were indescribable.
Jareth happily put away the painting, and couldn't wait to open the cake box.
Inside was a plain, even somewhat ugly, blueberry mousse cake.
He picked up a piece of cream with his fingertip and put it in his mouth, sucking on his finger.
Jareth frowned and chewed.
The taste was a bit sour.
Late at night, Evadne was applying a face mask, sitting in front of the computer in her study room, playing games without rest.
Actually, she was tired long ago, but tonight Jason went out to track Kevin at her command and hadn't come back yet. She was worried, so she played games to stay awake while waiting for his news.
The game's admin had sent her emails, more than once, inviting the internationally-renowned female slayer to participate in professional tournaments. But she had always refused.
She played video games for fun, not for fame or fortune. Did she look like she needed the money?
A message popped up. Avery had logged in.
[Fancy a game, Rose?]
[Sure, Ciferok. Send me an invite.]
Avery connected with her in voice chat, his melodic voice resonating in her study.
"Good evening, Miss Ciferok."
"Good evening, Mr. Rose."
"It seems you have a strong resilience. Ada's issue doesn't seem to affect you much." Avery chuckled softly.
"Of course. I've trained in some special technique."
"What does that mean?"
"The outside world can't affect me. The only thing I care is my integrity."
Avery couldn't help but laugh. After a pause, he asked, "Can I help with Ada's situation?"
"No need. This is a dispute between me and the Abernathy Group. Even though it's not a big issue, I can't involve the Chambers Group. Thank you for your kindness." Evadne declined politely.
"I'm not representing the Chambers Group. I just want to help you as an individual." Avery's voice was soft and filled with concern.
Evadne raised an eyebrow, "Don't you trust my abilities? Think I can't handle it alone?"
"No." Avery let out a helpless laugh, "I just don't want you to work too hard. Save some time to play games with me. You haven't logged in for several days."
Evadne was taken aback, blinking her eyes.
Could it be he had been waiting for her online these days?
Oh, indeed. He just returned from Helgen, idle and friendless. No wonder he was always clinging to her.
That was kind of pathetic.
At that moment, there was a knock at the door. Jason's voice came through.
"Miss Evadne! I'm back!"
Finally, she had been expecting him. She hastily said goodbye to Avery, "Mr. Avery, I have something urgent to deal with. Goodnight!"
Without waiting for his response, she exited the voice chat.
On the other end.

"Good night, Evadne."
Then, his eyes darkened as he clicked his mouse twice.
Replacing the game interface on the screen were detailed backgrounds of Jason and his two brothers from the Dempsey family.
