VEDANT

i have been awake for a while now it's probably 4 in the morning and sleep is far away from my eyes

she died for me i wish i could have saved her i wish i wasn't born

if i would have listened to her..

long lost in my thoughts i didn't realise that she wrapped her arm around my waist tightly even if she's sleeping she calms me down she provides a kind of serenity to my soul that none could ever fill me with

i smiled looking at her she has always made my birthdays special even when she was a teen she knew how to light up the world around her she made  things beautiful around her

i remember when i was probably 19?she literally ate my ears off saying it's my last year as a teen and i should enjoy it to the fullest i chuckled and then looked at her face thinking of that day that's probably the longest i have talked to her

"vedant come downstairs and have your breakfast" i heard maa calling i came out of the room drying my hairs with a towel when the chaos maker decided to bump into me

"watch where you are going" i said coldly glancing at her as she passed by me but stopped and turned

"toh aap aankh khol ke chaliye na" she said it was unlike her to behave like that her expressions were saying she had a fight

"did krishiv said something to you again?" i asked crossing my arms over my chest

"aapka bhai, nahi vo kahan kuch kehta hai saari galti toh meri hoti hai humesha vo toh devta hai devta" she said while her hands synced in motion with the frustration she was holding on to and i couldn't help but shake my head

"sorry aapke samne he aapke bhai ki burai kardi" she said smiling sheepishly

this girl i swear

i shake my head before turning on my heels to head downstairs

"wait" she said too loudly for my ears

i looked at her raising my eyebrow

"Happy Birthday" she said forwarding a chocolate to me

do i look like a kid too her? nevermind

"thanks" i muttered taking the chocolate from her

"so where are you celebrating?" she asked me taking small steps until she was standing two steps away from me and looked over at me

she's short not in a bad way, in a cute way

"i don't do celebrations" i said before i took steps towards the stairs and she followed beside me

"may i ask why?" she asked wiggling her eyebrows

"no" i replied blankly

"you are rude" she said scrunching up her nose

cute.no no no do.not.think.about.her.

" i know" i said tugging my hands in the pockets of my trouser

"nevermind. you should celebrate no? it's literally your last year as a teenager" she said her voice too loud for my liking

"happy birthday vedant" maa said as she realised i was downstairs

i bent down to touch her feet when she patted my head

"there's nothing to be happy about" i said smiling at her before she gave me the prashad she makes on my birthday

"aunty yeh aise he rehte hain humesha?" she asked while filling her mouth with a chocolate cupcake maa set on the table for her it's her favourite

"kaise?" maa asked looking at her from the kitchen counter top

"Sadu types" she said avoiding eye contact with me to which maa laughed

sadu? seriously?  i rolled my eyes before taking my seat at the dining table

"at least have your breakfast peacefully mihi bakwas nahi karte zyada" krishiv said as he descended the stairs and she made a face looking at him

"shut up i am having an important discussion" she said before diverting her attention towards me

"haan toh mr.malhotra you are giving us a party" she said more like ordered and i shook my head

only if she knew  that i wasn't a normal teen who enjoyed their youth without caring about the cruel world but she did celebrate my birthday she made me order her all her favourites and forced me to eat all with her and Krishiv

a heavy sigh left my lips i didn't wanted to think anymore i wanted to just shut off my fucking brain but i think god doesn't even allow me to do that

i closed my eyes when i felt her clinging on to me more as if she wants to protect me from my demons

i gulped when dryness took over my throat i looked at her, she looks adorable while sleeping like a baby

i caress her hair my other hand wrapping around her as i covered her with the quilt she just threw away with her leg

this woman is clumsy and i would never complain about it a low chuckle scaped my mouth

my precious little baby

my eyelids felt heavy and i soon dozed off in her arms, in my comfort zone

....

"good morning husband" she said kissing the top of my nose her wet hair falling on my eyes making me smile

"good morning beautiful" i said tucking her hair behind her ear and opened my eyes

"happy birthday" she said while throwing herself on me i wrapped my arm around her waist

"thank you wifey" i said before kissing her cheek

"okay so now we are heading home get ready maa is waiting for us" she said and my lips turned into a thin line

"can't i spend the day with only you" i asked nuzzling my face into the crook of her neck

"ved.. everyone's waiting" she said cupping my cheeks in her small palms as if pacifying a baby

"i'll go but only on one condition" i said looking into her eyes

"you'll give me kisses whenever i ask" i said a slight smirk taking over my features

"haww you are so shameless ved ji" she said hitting my chest lightly to which i chuckled

"abhi toh besharmi dikhai nahi toh aap sharma rahi hain jaan " i said tracing her jaw with my thumb

"ved.." she whispered as she gazed into my eyes

"ji jaan" i whispered back looking at her soft features she's beautiful and she's mine

"go take a shower" she said lightly hitting my cheek and tilting it to the other side making me chuckle

"i'll get back at you for this" i said and she giggled running out of the room

although i didn't wanted to go to the mansion i did afterall that's what she wanted but i got a text from anant my secretary that he needed my presence at the company so i left her at the mansion and came directly to the office

"Sir, the deal from italy has been stuck for a while and i think it's time for you to visit italy" anant said placing a pile of files in front of me

"schedule my flight the coming weekend" i said signing through the papers

the ringing of my phone took my attention who is it? ofcourse my biwi

"ji sunaiye" i said waving anant off

"patidev i want you home.now" she said more like ordered only she could do that

"banda khidmat mai hazir hai jaan-e-jahan" i said before picking up my over coat walking out of my office

"jaldi kijiye janab mujhe intezar karna pasand nahi" she replied a giggle escaped her mouth

"10 minutes and i'll be there" i said settling on the passenger seat as anant drove off

"sir, are you sure he wouldn't try to attack you after we killed one of his important man?" anant said his voice tensed

"don't worry in the mean time they will find out who did this i'll send them another man of theirs" i said a satisfying smirk flashing over my lips

"abheer sir wanted to discuss something about saransh mehra" he said before he put the engine on halt as we reached the malhotra mansion

"tell him to join the celebration tonight" i said getting out of the car when i saw her rushing towards me she was wearing a maroon saree and to be honest my heart skipped a beat her hair framing her face waving down to her waist her eyes captivating yet calm

she's gorgeous and mine

"easy there wifey" i said smiling at her

"everything's ready and i am so excited for you to see it" she said squealing in happiness as he held my hand and dragged me along with her and i followed her of course

she's so excited as if it's her birthday not mine

as i stepped inside the mansion the smell of roses filled my nostrils the mansion was decorated from top to bottom

"i planned it all" she said tugging on my arm like a kid

"it's beautiful just like you" i said kissing her forehead to which she blushed but quickly composed herself

*cough*

i looked into the direction and saw my cousins and little brother and i couldn't help but sigh

"thoda romance room ke liye bhi bacha liya karo" ritvik said with a teasing glint

"i can say the same, you know i saw what you did in the kitchen" mihi said giving him a teasing smirk

"bhabhi gandi baat" ruhi said shaking her head

"aree chalo aap toh boht achi baat karti ho na" krishiv said making us all laugh

"guys wish him" ishani said gesturing towards me

"happy birthday bhai" they said in unison and i nodded muttering a thanks

before i ascended the stairs towards my room as I entered my room i was greeted with darkness but the dim light coming from the window made things a little clear I took few steps further but pause at my place when I sensed someone behind me

unki khushboo unke aane se pehle mere paas aa jati hai

"Biwi do you think you can hide from me?" i asked still at my place when I felt her hands over my chest as she hugged me from behind her head resting on my back

"Meri ruh ka hissa hai aap aapse chup ke Kahan jaungi?" She said leaving soft giggles behind

I smiled before turning and facing her  as I held her hands in mine before grabbing her waist and pulling her close to me

"i got these for you" she said gesturing towards the gifts  placed on the bed

"don't you think they are too much for a man like me?" I asked looking at the presents that covered almost half of the king size bed

"ek laute pati ho aap mere aapke liye ni karungi toh kiske liye karungi?" She said wiggling her eyebrows making me chuckle

Thank you God, for her

"But you already gave me a ring jaan" I say as she made me sit on the bed

"Shh..just see them" she said glaring at me

"Okay mam as you say" I say holding up my hands in the air to which she laughed

"I'll get ready in the mean time" she said before disappearing in the bathroom

I fixed the cufflinks of the shirt before pulling up my blazer and running my hand through my hair one last time

And about the gifts she literally gifted me everything that she asked me one fine day that I like from shoes to my favourite cake she did it all

I heard her clearing her throat as she emerged out wearing a gorgeous white saree which had some kind of design on it's border the saree made her look like a fairy

Her hairs wavy falling down to her waist her rosy cheeks and innocent eyes made her look so pure so divine

My goddess

"You are injurious to my heart biwi" I mutter stepping closer to her

"Huh?" She looked at me oh so innocently

I held her hand and kept it over my chest

"Feel what you do to me?" I ask my voice low as I looked at her

I would be a fool if I took off my eyes from her and I felt her cheeks turning a shade of crimson

"You look handsome, like the man of my dreams" she said kissing my cheek

and I felt heat creeping up in my whole body

*Throat clearing sound*

She quickly took few steps backward as I looked in the direction of the nuisance i mean my brother

"Kyun aaya hai?" I asked looking at him

"Chalo bulawa aaya hai maata ne bulaya hai" krishiv said before holding mihika's hand dragging her outside

"Kabab mai haddi nahi toh" I mutter under my breath before I followed them behind

"Happy birthday partner" abheer said wrapping his arm around my neck

"Thanks.Get your hands off me.now" I say as we sat at the bar counter after the necessary celebrations like cake cutting, photo sessions and many morep

"Be a little chill..anyways about that saransh he's in Italy with his father" abheer said sipping on his drink

"Any idea about the attack which happened four days ago" I asked looking at my gorgeous wife from afar

"We're tracing the information but I think it's not saransh" abheer said opening a file on his laptop showing me the screen

"He's not that capable to pull off this" anant said as he came from behind looking at the broken door of the back gate of my mansion

"I agree" i say nodding

"Replaced the security locks of the mansion?" I asked anant it was to be made sure that when mihi reaches there it's still safe for her

"Yes..we need to be careful i think they know we are finding him" anant said before I could talk further i saw dadi lashing out on her

AUTHOR'S POV

"Bhabhi have this it tastes wow" ruhi said forwarding a glass of mocktail towards her

"What's this?" Mihi asked holding the glass while she held little ruhan in his other arm

"I don't know I had and it tasted quite good" ruhi said taking another sip of her drink

"Well then I'll try" she said taking a sip from her drink then proceeded to gulp it down

"I think I'll take another one too" mihika said taking another glass from her which had alcohol in it

"What are you ladies having" krishiv asked taking ruhan from mihika's hold

"Lo tum bhi pi lo" ruhi said giving another glass of the same drink to krishiv while the waiter gave them a look

As krishiv took a sip his eyes widened

"Bhabhi do you know what drink you were having?" Krishiv asked keeping the glass back

"Pata nahi taste acha kar rahi thi" ruhi said shrugging her shoulders

"Alcohol mix hai usme" krishiv said making mihika spit the drink out the second she heard this

"Mihi bhabhi mera favourite kurta tha yaar" krishiv said wiping his hand from the pallu of ruhi's saree

"Meri saree kyu kharab kar rhe ho toh" ruhi said hitting his arm

"Abhi toh boht kuch kharab hoga jab bhai ko pata lagega kya Piya aapne" krishiv said with a teasing smirk

"toh tumhare Bhai rakshas hain kha jayenge humein?" Mihika said sitting on the chair as she felt dizzy

"And either way ruhi made me drink it" mihi said looking at ruhi who was sober

"Ruhi do kyun dikh rahin hai vaise aur mere pati kidhar gayab hain?" Mihika asked blinking her eyes

"I thought- nevermind bhabhi aap room Mai jao the alcohol is acting up" ruhi said taking ruhan from krishiv

"Take her in the room before bhai gets to know or else we are gone" ruhi said  making her stand up

"Your bhai he is a cutie you know that" mihi said as she walked towards the bar area

"Yes..no well he's only cute with you" krishiv said holding her arm to which she giggled her cheeks having a red hue

"Udhar Kahan ja Rahi ho aap" he said dragging her with him towards her room

"Tumhare bhai dikh rahe hain dekho kitne mast dikhte haina" she said while doing the evil eye off gesture from her hands

"Hayee my husband" mihika said keeping her hand to where her heart is her eyes sparkling with admiration

Krishiv chuckled before taking her away from there

"You wait here I'll get you a lemonade" krishiv said before making her sit on the bed comfortably
