"Then I told them that it was just me jumping and not an earthq.... okay wow, why do you look like you came straight out of walking dead?" Max said surprised as I approached them outside the school entrance.
I waved them off and walked with a slacking posture, "I was up whole night."
The both of them looked at me concerned before Henry put one of his hands against my forehead to check my temperature. I swatted it away while snarling at him.
"You should have stayed home and rested." Henry said, "It would have been better than you being grumpy whole day and cursing at us." He mumbled the last sentence to himself.
I rolled me eyes, "If only I had enough energy I would have made you beg for your life for saying that."
Without saying anything I went inside with Max and Henry tagging on either side of me.
"Soooo...what were you doing last night?" Henry tickled me on my sides. I stepped away from him and glared at him.
"I told you I couldn't sleep."
Max looked at Henry knowingly before looking back at me.
What? Why were they looking at each other like that? What was going through their minds?
"Just before we met with you, we saw Alec." Henry grinned.
He came.
The only thing I could of was, will he ignore me? Or will he try to avoid me just like he did back then? He didn't say one word while coming back from the beach and silently just dropped me off.
The moment I told him about my feelings I could feel the change in his mood. He was surprised but I could see that he was just expecting it.
"Let me take you home." Was all he said.
He filled the silence of the car with music while I avoided looking at him at all. It was awkward. But I am glad that I could confess my feelings.
It was better than keeping them to myself for I don't even know how long.
"Let me tell you," Max's words brought me back to the present, "it didn't seem like he had any sleep either." He wiggled his brows at me indicating what I didn't even want to think.
"So?"
"You were together, weren't you?" He grinned at me.
Henry came and threw his arms around my shoulder, "Max, don't tease Serene!"
I snapped my head to his and said as fast as I could, "But nothing happened!"
"SO BOTH OF YOU WERE TOGETHER!" Henry screamed in excitement getting attention from people who were around us.
I slapped my hand against his mouth making him shut up. For god's sake how much attention was he craving today?
"I will make you question your existence if you don't shut that mouth of yours." I hissed, before removing my hands.
"I love you too." He grinned at me.
"Who do you think you are to harass my boyfriend?" Max asked proudlyâfolding his arms. He puffed his chest out as he came near me.
"Aww Max. I know you will protect me!" Henry blushed.
I cried out loud, "I will make you both breakup if that is how you will make me feel."
They were making me feel like a third wheel. I mean, I know I was one. But not exactly? I am their best friend so cornering me like that is the last thing they should do.
No. I am not actually crying.
I turned away from them to leave them alone. Before I could even take a step away from them I felt a pair of hands wrap around my legs. I couldn't even say anything when I was thrown lightly into the air.
"Put me down!" I screamed as I heard continuous giggles from Max.
"You enjoy this?" He asked before lightly making me jump in the air.
I laughed and screamed at the same time while shaking my head, "Nooo, I don't. Put me dowwwwwwn."
"Are you guys putting up a show at the entrance?" A serious voice interrupted us in between.
Max lightly put me down before turning towards the speaker. Brian stood there with a serious expression on his face. He had his bag slung over his shoulders. For once I didn't see Evelyn or Liya by his side.
The smile from Max's face vanished too as he took a step towards him and gazed down, "We are. You want to too?"
Were they going to fight? Out of nowhere? I thought we had become friends. Henry and Max actually liked Brian so why were they having this tension now?
I looked around at Henry and found him standing there laid back.
How was he taking it so lightly? For all we know a person could be going home with an open head.
I lightly ran towards him and nudged him, "Go and stop them from fighting." I whisper yelled at him.
He looked down at me with a quizzical expression, "Who is fighting?"
I pointed towards Max and Brian and looked in their direction.
I swear, I have never even seen Henry throwing himself at Max like Brian did in front of my eyes. Both of them were laughing heartily while shaking their hands.
"Throw me up like a man." Brian said loudly calling Henry over for help.
Henry patted me lightly against my back before going and joining them. Henry held Brian by his upper body while Max took the other side and then they threw Brian into the air as he squealed with joy.
I stood there with my mouth gape open. I don't know if I should be happy or smacking them against their heads for scaring me like that.
"Crazy, aren't they?" I jumped a little and stepped away as I looked beside me.
Evelyn and Liya stood there with smile on their faces and looking at me.
Yeah, I am surely going to be found in a hospital soon if they keep giving me heart attacks like that every few seconds.
"Y-yeah." I agreed to their previous statement.
Both of them held either of my hands in theirs and looked at me expectantly. I raised my eyebrows and tried to smile at them.
"You have no idea how glad we are to have another girl friend." Liya said ecstatically.
"I was craving for some girl energy too." Evelyn fanned her face before looking at me with a huge smile on her face, "I know you have been too! I mean, look at them." Naturally all of us looked at the three monkeys putting up a show for themselves and everyone, "tsk tsk. I wish I could just make them invisible so that it wasn't so embarrassing."
"Tell me about it." Liya muttered from beside me.
Liya turned to me and looked at me expectantly, "Let's have some girls time after school."
"That sounds so good!" Evelyn jumped in excitement, "Serenity, you can't say no!"
I mean, this was the first time I was invited and was forced to come without any answer. But also, I was enjoying it. Having two girls wanting to be my friend. I actually felt special.
I was rather missing that girl energy in my life. Especially after not meeting my mother for a long time. So it was just normal for me to get excited with them over this.
So I did what I had to do to match their energy. Yeah, I jumped with them. The unexpected, isn't it?
"Sure!" I nodded my head ecstatically.
"Serene."
I stopped in between and the smile from my face vanished as soon as I heard his voice. I clutched my hands involuntary. I was still holding onto Liya and Evelyn's hands so they could feel me tightening my clutch because I could feel them giving me a reassurance squeeze.
They don't even know if anything was wrong.
Alec stood there with bags under his eyes; I wonder whether it was because of staying up all night or hearing to my confession.
Maybe both?
He came and stood in front of me. His blonde hair sticking out in all directions as if he ran his hands continually through them.
"Can we talk later?" He asked.
Talk about what? Your rejection? Your feelings towards Liya which weren't dead yet? Talk about what? And was I ready to listen?
"Maybe later after our girls time." Liya came in front of me sensing my discomfort.
Alec looked at Liya and I swear I could see his eyes softening around the corners. I couldn't help but clench my jaws tight.
Has he ever looked at me like that?
His eyes turned to me and the only thing I could see was tiresome eyes. I could feel my heart breaking.
Is that the only thing I was making him feel? Tired of his feelings?
"I'll meet you later." I spoke up finally.
It was better to get over with it. If he was going to reject me then better get over with it too. At least it would be easier to move on.
"I'll be waiting for you." He said at last before leaving.
The only thing I knew was that it was going to be a heated conversation. And I was so not looking forward to it.
