Victoria spent the night at the hospital beside Emily and after a quick visit to the bathroom she was on her way back. As she reached her daughter's room she was met the ward doctor.

"You must be Miss Thorne," he said shaking her hand.

"How is my daughter, will she be ok?"

"Emily is a very determined little girl, she will pull through this. We aren't sure if there will be permanent damage, if there is it will take time to surface. But the main thing is she will be ok."

Victoria hugged the doctor.

"Thank you, it means so much to me."

The doctor smiled and nodded his head and then left.

Taking in a huge gulp of air Victoria opened the door.

Danny was inside next to Emily, her first impulse had been to leave the room.

"Please, Victoria, don't go..." he called after her.

Victoria stopped and looked at Danny, his eyes were red and puffy. She wanted to feel sorry for him, but couldn't.

"The doctor said she would be all right."

Danny stood up and walked over to Victoria.

"I am sorry Vic."

Victoria closed her eyes and turned away.

"Will you come home?"

"Don't ask me right now, I need time to get my head straight."

"Vic I've missed you."

"How is Amanda?" she asked to change the subject.

"I didn't think you would want to hear about her?"

"Of course I do, I love her like she was my own, and it was an accident after all!"

"She will have to go and see a psychiatrist regularly. I guess I didn't realize how mixed up she was after the way her mother treated her, she misses you..."

Victoria turned away and closed her eyes.

"Come back, I don't know what to do without you."

"I can't Danny, please don't put me in this position, after everything that happened we can't go back and pretend that it didn't. I can't hold you in my arms, knowing what you did..."

"Where will you go?"

"Well for now I'm staying close to the hospital, besides I still have Nan's house she left me..."

"Do you want your things?"

"No, sell them, give them away to the needy, whatever you think is best..."

Victoria smiled sadly and opened the door.

"You should go now, please."

"You will consider coming home... won't you?" said Danny as he left the room.

Victoria nodded, then watched him leave.

"Goodbye Danny," she whispered as he disappeared down the corridor and out of sight.
