Ben come home early, his stomach flipped as he walked into his empty house. He couldn't help but feel guilty over what he was about to do. What kind of monster would leave his wife and two month old son for another woman right in the middle of a family crisis?
Maybe he should wait until things cooled down? No, he wasn't being fair to any of them if he waited, he had already left things too long.
He regretted not being honest with Demi right from the start, or at least the day she had gone into labour with Trevor. Instead he let things drag on, played happy families to please everyone but himself, he shouldn't have done that!
Demi would be home any minute, things wouldn't go smoothly when he told her. He wouldn't be spending the night at home, so Ben packed a duffel bag of clothes and foraged around on the top of his wardrobe for his small hand gun. He smiled, Demi didn't know he had it, she hated guns and violence. He made sure the guns safety had been clicked on and slipped it into the bottom of the bag and took everything out to his car and stashed it.
Once inside he took off his shoes and socks, made himself a scotch and promised himself he wouldn't argue or get angry at Demi. He would be calm, reasonable, and apologetic. This wasn't her fault, they hadn't been right for each other from the start, his heart belonged to someone else... His heart belonged to Sarah.

Demi pulled up in the driveway of her house, it was just on dark. The first thing she saw was Ben's car in the driveway and felt a surge of rage, causing her to grip her fingernails deep into the steering wheel.
Ben hadn't come home the night she had caught him masquerading around the hospital complex arm in arm with Victoria's blonde bimbo of a mother. It had been fermenting in the back of her mind all day at the courthouse, she hadn't even been able to contain her resentment when she took the stand.
Demi didn't mean to be so harsh on Victoria, in the beginning she had wanted to do anything she could to help her. They were friends, her, Ben, Victoria and Danny had been so happy, but things had changed a lot.
Demi hoped Ben would be home tonight, this was as good a time as any to take out the garbage. Even if he wasn't home she would have made it her mission to find him. Trevor and Amanda were with Misty for the night as an afterthought she called Danny for back up. She may have been angry, but she wasn't stupid.
Crashing in through the front door she yelled, "Where the hell are you!"
Ben sat in the lounge room, his bare feet rested on her coffee table. His shoes and socks sat neatly on the floor beside him and he was about to down a scotch on the rocks.
"Hey honey, rough day?" he asked her innocently.
"Oh sweetheart it's about to get rougher. I want to talk!"
"Hey settle down Dem," then looking at the door expectantly he asked, "where are the kids?"
"The kids are safe, which is more than I can say for you, how about we finish our conversation from two weeks ago!"
"Well sure honey, what's on your mind," he asked with a smile.
She hated when he took that condescending tone with her, it made her angrier.
"Let me see, where to start, I know, let's talk about the day I went into labour with Trevor, how about that?"
"It was the greatest day of my life, meeting our beautiful baby boy for the first time!" he said patronizingly.
"I'm glad it was the greatest day of your life, me, and all I could think about was you getting your rocks off with your receptionist!"
He dropped the nice act and looked at her shaking his head in dismay.
"Dem I'm sorry you saw that, I'm sorry it happened, but why are you getting so angry about it all now, it happened ages ago. Why wait until now to get your panties in a bunch about it?"
"Well Ben that is a great question, I'm so glad you asked me that!"
"You are shouting Dem, calm down, what will the neighbour's say."
"I don't give a flying fox what the damn neighbour's say, did you have fun last night with your blonde bimbo?"
"What?"
"Oh don't play stupid with me Ben, were long past that. For a manager of a big car yard you're stupid to think you could get away with picking up a woman at the very same hospital my niece is in....."
A knock at the door sent both Demi and Ben's heads whirling towards the front door.
"Demi, its Dan, want me to come in?"
"Danny I'm so glad you're here, you are just in time to hear a feeble excuse from my husband as to why he was out on the town last night with a blonde bimbo. Here take a seat little brother, this is going to be good, well Ben come on we are waiting." said Demi.
"It wasn't like that Dem, you don't understand...."
"Ahhh I get it, I guess it wasn't like that with your receptionist either. I guess she tripped over her massive breasts and fell on you?"
"Jesus Dem settle down and let me explain to you."
"Who was she Ben, did you even catch her name before...."
"I didn't know who she was at first, that's what I was trying to tell you,"
"Danny, would you like to tell this pathetic little excuse for a man who he picked up and drove off in his car with, while we stood in the car park of the hospital and watched in horror?"
"Victoria's mother, Marilyn," said Danny and cleared his throat.
"That's right, as if we haven't been through hell and back with everything else, you decided it might be fun to hump the leg of Victoria's mother, way to go asshole!"
"Please Dem, you aren't listening it isn't like that. I wasn't, she was... she is my boss's girlfriend, I was picking her up and taking her to meet him. I didn't have a clue at the time it was Vic's mother."
"Ben you are a liar, a cheat, do you have any idea how much pain and anguish you have caused. I hope it was worth it because the truth is...I'm too good for you - your reputation precedes you. Jesus Ben you are nothing but a slimy car salesman, and I'm done with you, get out of my home. Get out of my life, go for a long walk off a short jetty for all I care, I'm done."
"Danny help him out of my house." said Demi as she took Bens shiny black shoes from the floor and hurled them across the room at him, "and take these with you too."
"Dem please, don't be like this..." said Ben as he dodged the flying shoes and inched closer.
"You heard my sister, you should leave," said Danny standing up to block Ben's path.
"Who asked you Danny boy, this is none of your business, coming between a man and his wife. Haven't you got enough troubles in your own backyard," said Ben as he pushed Danny provocatively.
"Get out of my house," screamed Demi moving closer to the two men with her fists clenched.
"Don't push me Ben, just leave!"
Danny stood his ground his hands balled up into fists by his side.
"Make me, come on tough guy, if you play your cards right you could always beat me up and end up in the cell next to that child basher of yours!"
Out of nowhere Danny's fist connected with Ben's face, he hit him hard and he crumpled to the floor. A stream of blood sprang out like a waterfall from his nose. A look of horror come over Ben as he tried to stem the flow of blood with one hand and crawled towards the door. He stopped and looked back at Demi, smiling through the blood covering his face.
"I'm going, but before I go - I never stopped cheating on you, that's right you stupid cow. You remember the receptionist with the red hair and big tits... serves you right for being such a bitch, I'm going all right, I can't stand you anyway, frigid little ice queen!"
"Just leave Ben, I hate you so much," cried Demi slamming the door behind him.
"I will pay you back for this, you stupid bitch!"
Demi crumpled to the floor as Ben's car speed off into the night.
"Oh my god Danny, why is this happening to us!"
"It's going to be ok Dem, we will get through this together, I promise," as Danny sat down on the floor and hugged his twin sister.
"What if he does do something to pay us back?"
"He won't, he was angry and if he tries he will have to get through both of us first, get up we are going to get our kids!"
