"Mom?"

Jason looked up at his mom with those innocent eyes that held so many questions behind them.

"Yes, Jason?"

"Why is Mr.Harper crying?"

"Oh.. well it's because Mrs. Harper got sick and she died, honey"

"But, mom, you told me that when someone dies they go to heaven, right?"

"Yes"

"Then why is he crying? She is going to a better place, like heaven is so cool! Shouldn't he be happy for her?"

"People cry when someone dies because they miss their presence , even if they believe the person is going to heaven, the pain of losing someone is still there. Crying help them deal with the sadness and cope with the loss, sweetheart"

Six years old Jason looked around him as he thought deeply of his mother's words, then he looked back at his mother determined.

"I won't cry if someone I love dies, mom. It's stupid, I Should be happy they're going to heaven and can do anything they want there. I think it's selfish, mom, if someone cries because he wants you to stay with him and doesn't want you to go to heaven."

"What if I die, will you not cry?" Jason's mother asked as she looked down at her adorable son with a unique way of thinking.

Jason looked at her with a hard look on his face as he tried to process the question.

"I- I will be sad, but then I will remember you're in better place and happy and then I will not be sad anymore"

Jason's mother smiled down at him and ruffled his hair " I hope you never have to deal with the grief of losing someone you love ever, my sweet baby"

Jason's eyes blurred as the sounds around him got too much. The beeping sounds, the nurse's voice, Lily's mother's crying and that loud annoying sound of Jason's heartbeat.

It's like his heart is in his ears pounding hardly as he struggles to breathe. Jason pressed his hands on his ears to block the noises and regulate his breathing.

He closed his eyes and breathed in and out while counting to ten

One, inhale and exhale..

Two, inhale exhale.....

.

.

Ten, deep breath in and out.

(A/N: you guys put your hands in your ears and do the same, it will be more real)

Jason removed his shaky hands off of his ears slowly and opened his eyes, there was an eerie silence.

No more beeping sounds, no more nurses shouting and running around, even Lily's mother was still. It's like everyone just stopped the chaos.

The silence was scary, Jason wished everyone was running around because this quietness was the calmness before a storm.

And then Jason heard the words coming out of the doctor's mouth and his world collapsed.

"Time of death seven thirty A.M"

And then the silence was penetrated with the cries and shouts of Lily's parents as Jason stood there in front of Lily's door and saw them covering her face with the white blanket.

Jason was losing his mind and then he remembered...Hope?

He ran towards the doctor and held his shirt desperately " What about our baby? What about Hope?!"

"I'm sorry, she couldn't make it." The doctor said ,pitiful.

"No no no no no " Jason tugged his hair, refusing to believe that this is happening.

He ran towards Lily's room and uncovered her face. She can't breathe like this, why would they cover her face, are they trying to kill her?

Lily's face was brighter than the snow in the middle of the night. Her lips were colorless and chapped, she looked... dead.

Jason's shaky hands slowly approached Lily's face and the coldness of her skin against Jason's warm hand stung.

"Lily, tell me this is a prank. Come on I won't be mad I swear. Open your eyes, baby."

And of course no response.

"Fiore, they're stupid, they're saying you left me here alone. They're saying you took our daughter with you and left me here all alone, they're idiots. They don't know that you would bever do this that you promised we will stay together forever. My daffodil would never leave me."

Lily's parents entered the room as her mom broke down in tears next to her.

"Oh my sweet baby, why did you leave us so early my beautiful girl" Lily's mother caressed her hair.

"No! She's not dead!"

"Jason, son, she's g-gone" Lily's father said as his voice quivered.

"No no , she's not. Don't touch her if you think she's dead" Jason screamed at them and hugged her to his chest which got Lily's mother crying more over her dead daughter, over her grandchild she never got to see, over her son in law who was losing it.

"Jason, honey" Jason's mother placed her hand on Jason's back trying to calm him down.

The men they had around informed them about what happened and they rushed to the hospital.

"M-mom" Jason cried out.

"I'm here, honey"

"They're saying that she's gone mom, tell them it's not true, tell them that Lily would never leave me like that"

Jason's mother broke down as she saw her son losing his mind. She knew this was going to happen, she tried to protect his heart from the start, but he wouldn't listen.

Jason's father took Lily out of his grip and laid her back down on the bed before hugging his son to his chest.

Jason finally broke down in tears in the embrace of his father. His tears came out running and wouldn't stop, Jason's parents have never heard him wail like this even when he was a kid.

"She's gone, dad. She's gone..." Jason finally admitted it to himself and his dad hugged him harder as his mother rubbed his back with tears in her eyes.

The next few hours were a blur to Jason. They were unreal like a nightmare only that he couldn't wake up from this nightmare.

He cried and cried and screamed and shouted till his tears dried and his eyes puffed and his throat got numb.

His brothers came to stand by him and say their goodbye's. Sophia was not with them , she's too young to go through funerals and grief. She didn't even get to meet Lily ...

People came and left offering their condolences and prayers. And Jason just stood there unmoving as if his body was there, but his soul was somewhere else.

He didn't lose one girl, he lost both his girls and that was enough to break him down. How will he ever recover from this? Why would he live anymore? There's no reason for him to stay alive without his girls, maybe he should join them.

Yeah maybe he should.

The funeral ended and people were leaving slowly, Lily's mother approached Jason and hugged him to her chest like she used to do to Lily.

"I don't know what to say to make this easier for you, I don't anything right now will help, but I just wanna say thank you, Jason." She pulled away from him and stood back into her husband's embrace.

"Thank you, Jason"

"Why are you guys thanking me?"

"Thank you for coming into Lily's life, thank you for making her happier, thank you for making her enjoy last days, thank you for being by her side and supporting her" Lily's mother said.

"I am glad my daughter met you and married you, son. You're a good person, kiddo."

"Don't stop your life here, honey, Lily wouldn't want that, stay strong for both your girls and make them proud, i'm sure they're watching over you" Lily's mother added.

"This is from Lily, she said if anything ever happens to her she wanted us to give you this" Lily's dad said as he handed him a shoe box.

Jason nodded and held the box tightly between his hands, one last gift from his flower.

"Let's go home, Jason" His oldest brother, Mason

said, squeezing his shoulder.

Home...

His home was where he and Lily lived, that's his home, but no his home was not their actual house, his home was Lily and now she's gone.

"I want to be alone for a bit" Jason said, lost in his thoughts.

"I don't think that's a good idea, you're not in your... you shouldn't be alone with your thoughts, Jason"

"I will be okay" Jason said, trying to convince his brother, but who was he kidding? He was far from okay.

"Jason, come on, please?" His brother, Luke, said joining the conversation.

"I just want to take a walk and clear my mind, I will be fine"

Luke and Mason shared a look before reluctantly letting him go. They noticed their mother looking at them questionably and they just shrugged.

If they forced him to go back home he would blow up in their face, he needed some time. But that didn't mean they weren't going to follow him, they had to look out for their brother and watch over him.

That's what family is for...
