"I will leave you both alone to discuss this matter together, I will go get the test results meanwhile"
Lily's doctor excused himself and left the couples in the loud silence that enveloped the room. Lily's mind was simply... lost. She couldn't wrap her mind around what's happening and she had no idea what she wanted.
She knew from day one that she doesn't want to get treatment at this late stage, but now that there are higher hopes and now that she wants to stay with Jason forever she doesn't know if that's what she wants anymore.
Jason on the other hand had one thought on his mind and that is how to get Lily to approve of the treatment. He loved her dearly and he was so selfish that he wanted her with him every second of the day for the rest of their lives.
He stared at the scrunched face of her, one thing about Lily is that she wears her emotions on her face and Jason saw all the confusion and fear written all over it.
"Lily, what's going through your mind, baby?"
"Nothing and everything"
"Talk to me, love"
"I just ... I don't know what to do Jason. I'm so lost, what do you think I should do?"
"Are you seriously asking me that question, Fiore?"
"What do you mean?"
"Imagine I just heard that there's a huge chance of you getting better. Imagine that I just got to know that it's possible for me to keep you by my side as my wife for eternity.
I want to grow old with you, Lily.
I want to have my kids with you, I want to travel the world with you, I want to see you aging like a fine wine. I want to be with you on the good and bad days.
I never forced you to do anything, Lily, but God knows how much I want you to listen and take the treatment. Please Lily."
Lily's eyes welled up with tears as Jason's words penetrated her heart like a russian bullet. It was now clear what her decision will be, just for Jason she's willing to undergo the therapy even though it will suck, but she'll do it.
But Lily finally got to realize something, it's not about the place or the journey, it's all about the people you're with. Cause that's all what it matters being surrounded with the people you love and with the people that own your heart.
"I will do it"
Jason's eyes sparkled, whether it was caused by the pure happiness that was swirling in them or the tears that threatened to escape, they sparkled with hope.
"You will?" Jason asked for affirmation , wanting to make sure he heard her right.
Lily nodded with tears running down her face before hugging him with so much emotions shared in that hug.
"I see that you guys made your decision" Lily's doctor said, interrupting the moment as he entered the room with the test results in his hand.
"Yes" Jason said and looked back at Lily who stared back at him with a smile on her face.
"I will take the treatment"
"That's the right thing to do, Lily, I am happy for you"
"Thank you so much doctor, you've been a great help"
"Not a problem, I'm just doing my job. Now I have another good news for you love birds"
Lily looked between doctor and Jason in confusion and Jason mirrored her reaction.
"Lily is ... pregnant"
Silence... you could hear a pin drop in the quietness of the room.
Pregnant? Holyy sh.....
"A- What?" Jason asked with a loss of words
"Your wife is pregnant Mr.King"
Seconds passed as both Jason's and Lily's mind's tried to process the news. A baby is on its way to make their life brighter.
Jason stood up in shock and stared down at Lily's arms that were wrapped around her stomach. He then grabbed her out of her seat and held her face between his hands as a silly smile covered his face.
Jason placed his forehead on Lily's and said with happiness dripping out of his voice " You're pregnant! We're going to be parents, you will be able to have the family you always dreamed off"
Lily nodded in a daze, a small laugh escaping her lips as she couldn't yet believe it.
She's gonna be a mother.
But what about her cancer?
She quickly turned around towards the doctor she unconsciously placed on her stomach.
"But what about the treatment? Won't the chemotherapy affect the baby?"
"Chemotherapy is not recommended before fourteen weeks of pregnancy as it can harm the developing baby or cause a miscarriage, but luckily for you you are already fifteen weeks pregnant so it won't be harmful for the baby"
"Oh thank god" Lily sighed in relief.
"Is there anything we have to do, like any instructions or anything" Jason asked.
"The most important thing is that Lily needs a lot of rest. She needs to take things slowly and make sure to eat and sleep well. Also, the chemotherapy sessions will be held on the weekends and you will have to stay in the hospital of course."
"Of course, she won't even lift a plate up and I will feed her till she becomes like a stuffed bear"
"Good luck with mama bear, Lily" The doctor joked " I prescribed these pills to help with the nausea and dizziness, also the secretary will inform you of your first chemotherapy appointment date and time and if you want I can recommend you a doctor for the baby. You are free to leave now"
"Thank you so much for your help doctor."
And with that Lily and Jason left the hospital with new hopes and dreams for their future. The whole day Jason wouldn't let Lily move out of the bed, he got her everything she needed to their room and didn't even let her walk to the bathroom, yes he carried her.
He was a bit overprotective, but Lily went with it if that's what will get him peace of mind. Plus, it felt good being treated like a princess even more than before.
They were now on their way to the restaurant to announce the news to both of their parents who were waiting for them there.
"You ready, babe?" Jason asked, placing his hand on Lily's lower back.
"Yeah, let's get this over with"
Jason smiled at her with encouragement and led the way towards their table.
Jason and Lily were kinda nervous about how their parents' reaction would be, not towards the treatment they were sure they would be happy with, but the baby matter though... that would probably cause some drama.
"The love birds are finally here" Jason's mother said with a soft smile.
"Sorry we got stuck in the traffic" Lily said as they greeted everyone around the table.
"It's okay we were chatting together , we didn't really notice the time" Lily's mother said, hugging her daughter.
"So, what's the news? Tell us we're so curious"
"Let's eat first, Lily should eat now and also we can catch up before that" Jason said.
After chatting, laughing and eating it was finally time for the announcement .
" So we're here to inform you of our new decision, after speaking with Lily's doctor and after he explained to us about the new promising treatment ... Lily will be undergoing treatment starting from Friday"
Lily's parents were shocked to say the least, her dad hid his face in his hands in disbelief and relief while her mother broke down in tears. Jason's parents watched this wholesome scene with a smile.
"Oh my god honey this is the best news I have heard for a while now" Lily's mother cried out.
"We're so happy for you, Lily, and if you ever need anything you can always tell us" Jason's father said.
"I doubt she'd ever need anything with Jason by her side" Jason's mother offered a soft smile.
Lily's father who was sitting on her right around the round table hugged her sidley and kissed the top of her head which got Lily emotional and crying, the hormones weren't helping either.
"Okay now to the second news" Jason said, grabbing everyone's attention. He held Lily's hand and placed a kiss on the back of it.
" All of you know that today is my birthday and thank you for the gifts you sent, but the best gift I've ever received throughout my life was from my love , my wife, Lily. She made me the happiest person ever today ,we will be soon to be parents and y'all will soon have a grandchild"
The shocked faces almost made Jason and Lily laugh. Both the mothers gasped and placed a hand on their mouth , while the dads just looked horrified.
This was one of the wholesome moments in Lily's life, seeing the happiness radiating around her and being surrounded by her loved ones while carrying a bundle of joy.
It's all about who you surround yourself with.
