The sound of machines beeping mixed with the sound of the people rushing through the hallways stressed Jason till he felt suffocated in the hospital room.
It was three in the morning and Lily was connected to some wires and machines and seeing her like this, so pale and lifeless, was messing with Jason's head.
When he rushed her to the hospital he asked for her doctor and called her family. Her parents left a few minutes ago to get some stuff back from their home. His parents also left since his dad has some work to finish and his mom needs to check on the kids.
There's no point of them being here anyway.
He asked his dad if he said something that might have caused her to faint, but he said he just talked about them and their honeymoon and so on.
The doctor said that she's just tired from the busy week they had. Lily's cancer is growing fast and she'll need more rest now, more than before.
That scared Jason shitless.
What does he mean it's growing fast , will Lily leave him earlier than he thought. No, it couldn't be.
Jason intertwined their hands together and watched the sleeping beauty carefully. He was watching every move , every breath and every twitch hoping she'd wake up soon.
Two hours later and Lily wasn't awake yet.
The low light in the horizon marked the beginning of a new day and new hopes and opportunities and yet Lily was still asleep.
Hours spent in that hospital room and Jason didn't leave her side not even for a second. Lily's parents failed to convince him to go sleep or eat , even his parents failed to convince him when they visited.
Nothing will make him leave her side, not even for a millisecond. Jason paced around the room, looked out of the window, held hands with Lily and watched her peacefully sleeping and still she's asleep.
It was driving him crazy and each time the doctor said that it's just her body taking time to rest and gain her energy back.
Finally, at four in the afternoon, Lily groaned and moved in her sleep. Jason, who barely closed his eyes for a second, jerked up and squeezed Lily's hand in anticipation.
"Lily, my love?"
Lily flattered her eyes open and looked up at the concerned face of Jason in confusion. The moment his eyes caught hers a sigh of relief left his lips and he bent down placing a long kiss on her forehead.
"Finally, Fiore, you scared me to death. How are you feeling, baby"
"What happened? Why am I in the hospital"
"You fainted back in my house and I brought you to the hospital"
"Oh, I'm sorry for worrying you"
"Nonsense, no need to apologize, love"
"My parents?"
"They went to get some to eat from the cafeteria"
"What did the doctor say?"
Jason hesitated for a moment, what was he supposed to tell her now?
"He just said that this week might've been a little too much for your body and that you need more rest"
"Oh yeah maybe"
"I will go call the doctor okay"
"Okay"
Two hours later and Lily was charged out of the hospital and ready to go back home.. but where is home.
Jason said that they are going to live alone from now on. And quite frankly she didn't know where that was.
"Jason?"
"Yes, Fiore"
"Where are we going now?"
"Remember the apartment I brought you to the first day we met?"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah we will be staying there until we find a place that we could call home, does that sound good?"
"It does, babe"
"I love it when you call me that"
"And I love you ... babe"
Jason held her chin and kissed her with need, ignoring the existence of the driver for a few seconds. Jason dismissed both their parents and assured them he will be taking care of her and that he will keep them updated .
He promised that they can visit tomorrow, but for today he didn't want any noises around Lily he just wanted her to relax in between his arms.
Three months later.....
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR, JASEY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!"
"Thank you, Fiore. I thought I told you not to do anything"
"Are you kidding me? Of course I will. Now blow the candles and don't forget the wish"
"Really, baby? What am I, a five years old kid"
"Oh come on, Jasey bear, don't be so grumpy. Pleaseeee for me?" Lily said using her secret weapon... the cute pouty face.
"How can I ever say no to my wifey?" Jason said, kissing her forehead before taking a second then blew the cake.
"What did you wish for?"
"I wished that y-" Lily closed his mouth before he could complete his sentence.
"Shh Jason, are you crazy? You're not allowed to tell anyone or else the wish won't come true"
"Who the fuck believes this shit?"
"Oh my god, you're such a buzz kill"
Lily did a small birthday surprise for Jason in their new home, just her and him. Jason doesn't like celebrating his birthdays, he says birthdays are overrated and makes no sense.
It's been three months now, not much has changed since then except for the growing love of Jason and Lily.
As for Lily's illness... it was growing as fast as their love. She's lost a couple of pounds now, her hair color looks a bit dull and her skin is as pale as ever.
She was still more than beautiful in Jason's eyes. She is the most perfect human being to him.
Lily dropped out of the school due to the frequent hospital visits and instead lived her days fully with Jason by her side. He made every day a special day even if they were staying home and made sure to fulfill all her wishes.
As the taste of the creamy cake hit the taste buds of hers Lily felt nauseous and ran directly to the bathroom. Jason followed her with fear ripping through his heart and held her hair back as she emptied her stomach.
"You okay, baby?"
"I feel dizzy all of a sudden"
"Let's take you to the hospital"
"No I don't want you to spend your birthday in hospitals"
"Baby, I don't give a fuck about my birthday. I just want to make sure you're okay"
"But Jason-"
"No buts Lily, we're going and that's final"
"Okay" Lily said in a sad tone "I just didn't want to ruin your birthday like I ruined so many days before"
"Lily, baby, don't say that . We're married now and that means we'll stay together through bad and good days. I don't wanna hear saying something like that again, understood?" Lily nodded her head in agreement.
"Good girl, now I promise that I am not mad we can still celebrate my birthday after coming back from the hospital. We can watch a movie, you can choose this time, how does that sound?"
"That sounds great" As her face lit up like a little girl.
"Lily"
"Yes, Jasey?"
"Stop it"
"Stop what?" Lily's face fell as she thought about what he meant.
"Stop being so damn cute, Fiore"
"Awww you're so cheesy"
"You love it"
"Mhm, I also love you"
"Not more than I do, let's go"

"Lily? Everything okay?" Lily's doctor asked as she entered his room.
"She's feeling a bit dizzy and she puked" Jason explained on her behalf.
"We'll run some tests on you, but it's a good thing you're both here. I was going to call you later tonight.... I have some news to you"
"Is everything okay?" Lily asked hesitantly.
"Yes, yes don't worry it's good news"
"What is it?" Jason asked.
"Let's run the tests on her first and then we can sit and talk, her health is our priority"
"Alright"
After the nurses finished drawing blood out if Lily, she and Jason headed back to his room and took a seat waiting patiently for him to come and tell them what's going on.
"Sorry for making y'all wait"
"Not a problem" Lily replied politely.
"Lily, I'm aware that you didn't want to get treatment because you're already in stage four and you didn't want to stay in the hospital. But, there's a new cancer treatment that has been used a few times and has given great results in treating cancer. It does involve chemotherapy, but it's more effective and efficient. So I'm here to offer you a chance to get rid of your cancer or at least expand your life. Do you approve of undertaking this treatment?"
A glimpse of hope sparked through Jason's veins as he looked back at Lily who seemed lost and dazed.
There's a chance of him keeping her forever by his side and he would do everything in his power to convince Lily to get this treatment.
She can be treated.....
