This is known as 'flaying' and was used thousands of years ago on witches, captured soldiers and to execute criminals.
In one method, peoples hands were tied above their head while the torturer cut off all his skin wig a knife, starting at the face.
Another method involved being severely sunburned and then having your skin peeled off.
Lastly, they could be boiled, burning their skin off.
