Gu Mengmengâs tears were still stained on her face as she widened her eyes in anticipation at Snakel.
Snakel smiled and pulled her back into his embrace. He said, sighing, âI walked around the mortal world and suffered all those trouble for you....Twomeng, you have to remember that youâre the only one who can ride on my neck so donât be a coward and donât cry. Just await my return....â
Gu Mengmeng did not know what Snakel was planning to do. She just felt her heart being tugged at mercilessly. She grabbed tightly onto Snakelâs clothes out of instincts and without knowing what she was showing her displeasure at, she shook her head profusely.
Snakel smiled, kissing her lips.
This was his first time genuinely kissing her, kissing Gu Mengmengâs true presence.
He hugged her with all his might and wanted to rub her into his chest so badly.
He said, âJust like how Zhuangzi dreamed of a butterfly, you are a blessing and a misfortune....Twomeng, do you know? The moment I saw you, I heard seven words from the Beast Deity â there is no escape from your doom.â
Gu Mengmeng felt Snakel slowly vanishing, just like colorful bubbles dancing in the summer wind, being blown away little by little. She could neither catch up nor could she grab or touch him...
âAh Kel....Ah Kel......donât......no noâahââ
Gu Mengmeng tried to grab onto Snakel with all her might but he eventually disappeared.
Before he completely vanished, he maintained his smile at Gu Mengmeng and left one last sentence behind, âI waited for you twice in the previous and present life. This time round....itâs your turn. Wait for my return and donât abandon me again.....Twomeng, I love you.....â
âAhâ! Ah Kel!â Gu Mengmeng hollered at the top of her voice but did not manage to call Snakel back.
Once again, Snakel vanished for her...
Following Snakelâs disappearance, the gigantic door closed slowly and soon, screechâbang!
Gu Mengmeng stared at the closed doors of time and space and continued lying on the ground, not able to get herself together. With her mouth wide open, she sobbed sorrowfully and tragically but not a sound could be heard.
A few human figures surfaced after the doors disappeared, just like how they were originally standing behind the doors but were just blocked from sight.
âXin, Iâm back.â The biggest figure walked past Gu Mengmeng and stood before Wang Xiaoxin, hugging her in his arms.
Wang Xiaoxinâs eyes turned red instantly as she hugged the person back tightly. Her emotions that remained calm for a thousand years were in an upsurge. Her eyes were dropping tears but her lips were curved in a smile. After trying to catch her breath for a while, she cried, âI hate you to death, why did you make me wait for such a long time?â
âIâm sorry, I took too long to return.â That person hugged Wang Xiaoxin and kissed the top of her head. After hugging each other for a long time, the male sighed and said, âLetâs settle this little trouble first, youâll lose your breath if you keep crying.â
âYeah.â Wang Xiaoxin nodded, melancholy filling her eyes. She asked, dispirited, âDid I do it....wrongly?â
The male answered, âIn my eyes, everything you do is correct.â
Wang Xiaoxin chuckled, huddling in the maleâs arms, commenting, âWales, youâve changed. Youâre not so glib-tongued a thousand years ago.â
Wales did not deny as he carried Wang Xiaoxin and walked to Gu Mengmeng. Then, he kicked Gu Mengmeng and said, âHey, Gu Twomeng, when are you going to stop crying? My son risked his life to close the doors of time and space for you, are you not going to make a wish and call your two trash back?â
Gu Mengmeng was still choking with tears on the ground. After hearing a familiar voice, she turned around but could not recognize the person before her.
